Nitoproof Damp Protect
Bitumen Polymer Damp Proofing Coating for Below-Grade Wall Protection
Authorized Project Distributor — Fosroc India | Space Arc Engineering, Ghaziabad
Product Overview
Nitoproof Damp Protect is a solvent-based, bitumen polymer modified damp proofing coating for application to the external (buried) faces of basement walls, retaining walls, and below-grade masonry to provide protection against rising damp, soil moisture, and non-hydrostatic water penetration from the surrounding ground. It provides a black, flexible, tough bituminous coating that is resistant to the ground chemicals, sulphates, and weak acids typically encountered in Indian subsoils. Applied by brush, roller, or spray in two coats to the prepared external concrete or masonry surface before backfilling, Nitoproof Damp Protect forms a continuous, bonded protective layer between the structure and the backfill soil. It is primarily a damp proofing product for moderate conditions rather than a full hydrostatic waterproofing membrane — for basements subject to significant hydrostatic water pressure from a high water table, a fully reinforced sheet or liquid applied waterproofing system such as Proofex Engage or Brushbond TGP is required instead. Space Arc Engineering distributes Nitoproof Damp Protect for residential and commercial below-grade construction projects across Delhi NCR, Ghaziabad, and Northern India.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is Nitoproof Damp Protect sufficient for waterproofing a basement in a high water table area?
Nitoproof Damp Protect is a damp proofing coating designed for protection against soil moisture and non-hydrostatic damp conditions. If the site has a high water table or the basement is below the groundwater level, the structure may be subject to significant hydrostatic water pressure, which is beyond the performance range of Nitoproof Damp Protect. In this case, a properly designed hydrostatic waterproofing system — such as Proofex Engage HDPE membrane, Nitoproof 600 self-adhesive membrane, or Brushbond TGP flexible cementitious waterproofing — must be specified. A structural or waterproofing engineer should be consulted to assess and specify the correct system.
How many coats of Nitoproof Damp Protect are required?
Two coats of Nitoproof Damp Protect are required for adequate coverage and to build up the minimum dry film thickness. Apply the first coat and allow to dry completely (typically 4 to 6 hours at 30 degrees C) before applying the second coat in the opposite direction for uniform, pinhole-free coverage. Do not backfill until both coats are fully dry and cured — typically 24 hours after the final coat.
What substrate preparation is needed before applying Nitoproof Damp Protect?
The concrete or masonry surface must be dry, clean, and free of dust, oil, and loose material. Tie bolt holes and surface defects should be filled with a suitable mortar before coating. The surface must be dry — do not apply to wet or damp concrete. Block porous substrates with a diluted first coat if suction is very high. Ensure blinding concrete and masonry joints are sound and do not present sharp protrusions that could damage the coating during or after backfilling.
