What is it?

A two-component, 100% solids pure polyurea elastomeric coating (Part A ISO + Part B AMINE) that is machine-sprayed to form a seamless, jointless protective floor film.

Where is it used?

Industrial floors, food-processing areas, warehouses, car parks, workshops, plant rooms, helipads and stadia where floors face abrasion, chemicals and thermal shock.

Why use it?

It combines waterproofing, corrosion protection and heavy-duty abrasion resistance in a single monolithic coat, cures in seconds and lets the area reopen within an hour.

How is it applied?

Hot, high-pressure plural-component spray equipment (Graco or GlasCraft type) applies it over a primed substrate at roughly 2.0 mm thickness using a cross-hatch pattern; certified applicators only.

About Fosroc Polyurea FLM

Fosroc Polyurea FLM is a fast-setting, 100% solids pure polyurea coating built for floors that take a beating. It arrives as two liquids, Part A ISO and Part B AMINE, that are metered 1:1 through a heated, high-pressure spray rig and react on contact to form a tough, flexible, seamless film. Because there are no solvents flashing off and no water to evaporate, the coating builds full thickness in one pass and gels within seconds, so a shut-down bay or production floor can be handed back in a fraction of the time a conventional epoxy or PU system would need. The result is a jointless skin that waterproofs, resists corrosion and shrugs off wheeled and foot traffic across a wide temperature band.

For Indian sites, the appeal is practical. A single sprayed coat replaces the multi-layer, multi-day sequences that stall operations, and the film tolerates the thermal swings of an uninsulated shed or an open car-park deck. It bonds to both concrete and steel once the surface is correctly prepared and primed, and it can be enhanced with fillers or fibres for anti-slip finishes or extra-heavy service. As an authorised Fosroc distributor and applicator across Delhi NCR and Pan-India, Space Arc supplies the FLM, the matched Nitoprime 31 or Primer 195 systems, and the trained spray crews and equipment that this product genuinely requires.

The technical insight

Polyurea chemistry is what makes the speed possible. When the isocyanate (Part A) meets the amine resin (Part B), they react almost instantly through an addition reaction that needs no catalyst and is largely indifferent to ambient moisture and temperature. That is why FLM gels in 5 to 10 seconds and is walkable in about 2 minutes, where a moisture-cured or catalysed system would be waiting on humidity and heat. The two components are held at 70 to 80 degrees Celsius in the machine block and hose and forced together at 120 to 150 bar so they atomise and mix at the gun tip, which is precisely why brush or roller application is impossible and dedicated plural-component equipment is non-negotiable. The cured elastomer carries the load: over 300% elongation at break (ASTM D412) lets it bridge minor movement and hairline cracking without splitting, while tensile strength above 16 MPa and Shore D hardness of 47 give it the toughness to resist impact, puncture and abrasion. Being a 100% solids, zero-VOC film, it also builds real thickness in one pass, so 2 mm of durable, low-permeability protection goes down where a thinner coating would need several coats.

Where it is used

  • Chemical-resistant flooring in food-processing and beverage plants
  • Heavy-duty industrial and manufacturing floors subject to abrasion and impact
  • Warehouse and logistics floors with forklift and pallet-truck traffic
  • Car park and garage deck coating (waterproof and trafficable)
  • Workshop, production-facility and plant-room floors
  • Secondary containment and bund areas needing chemical resistance
  • Helipads and stadia decks requiring seamless, durable finishes
  • Anti-corrosion protective lining over prepared steel surfaces

Key advantages

  • 100% solids and zero VOC, so it builds full thickness in one coat with no solvent emissions
  • Ultra-fast cure gels in 5 to 10 seconds; the floor is walkable in about 2 minutes and in service within an hour
  • Seamless and monolithic, including at field joints, leaving no weak lines for water or chemicals
  • High elongation over 300% (ASTM D412) bridges minor movement and hairline cracks
  • Excellent impact, abrasion and puncture resistance with Shore D 47 and tensile strength above 16 MPa
  • Broad application window from -30 to +70 degrees C and service from -30 to +135 degrees C
  • Strong chemical resistance to oils, fuels, many acids, alkalis and sea water
  • Significantly extends the durability of reinforced concrete through low permeability

Limitations & considerations

  • Requires heated, high-pressure plural-component spray equipment and trained, certified applicators; it cannot be brushed or rolled
  • Being an aromatic polyurea, it will discolour under prolonged UV exposure (physical properties are unaffected)
  • Mandatory primer step: Nitoprime 31 for sound dry concrete at 25 degrees C and above, Primer 195 for all other conditions
  • Substrate must be clean, dry and blast-prepared with an adequate profile; below +5 degrees C longer cure times apply
  • Supplied in bulk 200-litre drums, which suits sizeable projects rather than small patch jobs
  • Some aggressive chemicals (for example concentrated nitric acid or Skydrol) are not recommended for immersion

Selection & best practice

Success with Polyurea FLM is decided before the gun is switched on. Prepare the substrate to ISO 8504 so it is clean, dry and sound, then abrasive-blast concrete to expose a proper profile (ASTM D4259) and fill blow-holes, or blast steel to Sa 2.5 with a medium G roughness. Always prime: Nitoprime 31 on sound dry concrete at 25 degrees C or above, Primer 195 everywhere else, broadcast with fire-dried sand for optimum adhesion, and let it become touch-dry before spraying. Keep block and hose at 70 to 80 degrees C, run 120 to 150 bar at a 1:1 ratio, and spray a cross-hatch pattern to a minimum 2.0 mm at the recommended 2.0 litres per square metre (never below 1.5 or above 3.0 in a single coat). Do not dilute any component. Time the traffic loading correctly: light foot traffic after 15 to 20 minutes, medium-duty after 24 hours, heavy-duty vehicle traffic only after 7 days. For anti-slip or extra-heavy service, add fillers or fibres per the Fosroc Polyurea Method Statement.

Frequently asked questions

Can Polyurea FLM be applied with a brush or roller?
No. It is a fast-setting pure polyurea that gels in seconds and must be applied with heated, high-pressure plural-component spray equipment (Graco or GlasCraft type) by trained, certified applicators. Brush and roller application is not possible.
How soon can the floor be used after coating?
Very quickly. It is walkable after about 2 minutes and light-foot trafficable in 15 to 20 minutes. For vehicle and forklift loading, allow 24 hours for medium-duty and 7 days for heavy-duty traffic.
Does it need a primer, and which one?
Yes, priming is mandatory. Use Fosroc Nitoprime 31 on sound, dry concrete at 25 degrees C and above, and Fosroc Primer 195 for all other conditions, including steel and cooler or damper substrates.
Will the colour change over time?
Because FLM is an aromatic polyurea, it will discolour under prolonged UV exposure. This is cosmetic only and does not affect the coating’s physical or protective performance. Where colour stability is critical, ask us about alternatives.
What chemicals does it resist?
It resists a broad range including motor and hydraulic oils, diesel, petrol, kerosene, sea water, 50% sodium and potassium hydroxide, and several dilute acids on 72-hour contact. A few aggressive chemicals such as concentrated nitric acid and Skydrol are not recommended; we can confirm suitability for your specific exposure.
What pack sizes and coverage should I plan for?
Both components are supplied in 200-litre drums. Plan coverage at 1.5 to 3.0 litres per square metre, with 2.0 litres per square metre as the normal rate for a minimum 2.0 mm dry film in a single cross-hatch application.

How we position Fosroc Polyurea FLM

Polyurea FLM is Space Arc’s answer when a floor needs to be chemical- and abrasion-resistant, seamless and back in service fast. Within the Fosroc pure-polyurea family, pair it with the matched primers, Nitoprime 31 or Primer 195, and reach for Fosroc Polyurea WPE when the priority shifts from a trafficked floor coating to a spray-applied waterproofing membrane for roofs, decks, tanks and buried structures. Where a project calls for a cementitious or PU-based waterproofing membrane instead of spray polyurea, or a resin screed floor rather than a coating, we also carry Dr. Fixit and Sika systems and can match the right product to the substrate, budget and equipment available on site.
