Sprayset HBP
High-Build Polymer-Modified Render for Spray Application on Concrete and Masonry
Authorized Project Distributor — Fosroc India | Space Arc Engineering, Ghaziabad
Product Overview
Sprayset HBP is a polymer-modified, high-build cementitious render from Fosroc formulated for application by mechanical spray equipment — typically a plastering machine or render pump — on concrete walls, masonry, block work, and rough concrete substrates. High-build renders can be applied in thicker single coats than conventional sand-cement plaster, reducing the number of coats needed to achieve the final surface profile and saving time on large area applications. The polymer modification of Sprayset HBP provides several key improvements over plain sand-cement render: higher bond strength to the substrate (including smooth or low-porosity concrete surfaces that would not accept plain cement render), greater flexibility to accommodate the differential thermal movement between render and substrate without cracking, and reduced water absorption for improved durability in external exposure. Machine spray application provides significant productivity advantages over hand application — a spray machine with a skilled operator can apply render to several hundred square metres per day, compared to 30 to 50 square metres for a skilled hand plasterer. This makes Sprayset HBP particularly valuable for large-area render applications on tall building facades, tunnel linings, and large civil engineering structures. Sprayset HBP produces a surface that can be left as the final textured finish (for industrial and infrastructure applications) or finished with a fine coat or paint system for decorative applications. Space Arc Engineering distributes Sprayset HBP for building facade, tunnel, and infrastructure rendering projects across Delhi NCR, Ghaziabad, and Northern India.
Applications

Frequently Asked Questions
What type of spray machine is needed to apply Sprayset HBP?
Sprayset HBP is designed for application by continuous-mixer render spray machines — the type of equipment commonly referred to as a plastering machine, render pump, or mono pump. These machines mix the dry powder with water continuously and pump the fresh render through a hose to a spray gun, from which the render is projected onto the substrate by compressed air. Standard worm-drive (Mono-type) pump machines with air spray guns are suitable. The machine should have sufficient pump capacity to maintain continuous application without interruption. The nozzle type, hose diameter, air pressure, and water addition rate all affect the quality of the applied render and should be calibrated on a test area before full production. Hand application by trowel is also possible for small areas, but the product is specifically optimised for machine application.
Can Sprayset HBP be applied directly to smooth concrete without a key or bonding agent?
Polymer-modified renders like Sprayset HBP have better bond to smooth concrete than plain sand-cement renders, but for reliable adhesion to smooth or low-porosity concrete (such as fair-faced concrete or concrete with mould oil contamination), a bonding agent is recommended. Nitobond SBR diluted with water and applied as a slurry to the substrate before rendering significantly improves bond. Alternatively, mechanical preparation of the substrate (scabbling, bush hammering, or hydroblasting) to provide a rough surface with aggregate exposure creates a mechanical key that helps the render bond. Very smooth or contaminated concrete may not be suitable for render application regardless of the render type without thorough mechanical preparation.
How thick can a single coat of Sprayset HBP be applied?
Sprayset HBP is a high-build product capable of being applied in coats of 10 to 20 mm per coat. This is significantly thicker than conventional sand-cement hand render (5 to 10 mm per coat maximum). The maximum thickness per coat without risk of sagging depends on the consistency of the mix, the ambient temperature, and the absorption of the substrate. On very smooth, low-porosity substrates, the thick render coat may sag if the substrate does not absorb enough water to stiffen the applied render quickly. For very large thickness requirements (greater than 30 mm total), applying two coats with adequate setting time between them is preferable to single very thick coats.
