Fosroc Auramix DIS
PCE-based high-range water-reducing superplasticiser engineered for long workability retention, high-strength RMC and concrete pumped to great heights.
What is it?
A new-generation polycarboxylic-ether (PCE) high-range water-reducing superplasticiser from Fosroc, supplied as a ready-to-use light brown liquid for batching directly at the RMC plant or site.
Where is it used?
Ready-mix concrete plants, high-rise and infrastructure pours, pumpable and high-strength mixes, and concrete using fly ash/GGBS replacements or manufactured (M-) sand across Delhi NCR and Pan-India.
Why use it?
It cuts water demand sharply while holding slump for extended periods, giving higher strength, lower permeability and pumpability to great heights without raising cement content.
How is it applied?
Dosed into the mix water or added to wet concrete at roughly 0.5-1.5 litres (about 0.3-1.3%) per 100 kg of cementitious material, established by site trials; never dispensed onto dry aggregate.
About Fosroc Auramix DIS
Fosroc Auramix DIS is a high-range water-reducing superplasticiser built on Fosroc’s polycarboxylic-ether (PCE) polymer technology, the same long-lateral-chain chemistry that underpins the wider Auramix range. The “DIS” designation places it among Fosroc’s dispersion-optimised admixtures intended for demanding ready-mix and site concrete where both deep water reduction and extended workability retention are needed in the same mix. In practical terms, it lets a producer hold a target slump or flow for the time it takes to batch, transport and pump concrete across a congested Indian site, while simultaneously trimming the water-cement ratio to lift strength and durability.
The product is a single-component, chloride-free liquid that is added during batching. Because the PCE polymer disperses cement grains by a combination of electrostatic and steric (physical) action rather than by simple surface wetting, a small dose unlocks a large reduction in water demand. That mechanism is what separates a modern PCE such as Auramix DIS from older naphthalene (SNF) or melamine (SMF) sulphonate superplasticisers, which lose workability much faster and cannot match the same water reduction at equal dose.
For contractors, consultants and RMC producers, the appeal is straightforward. The admixture is engineered for low viscosity, so the resulting concrete pumps cleanly to greater heights with less line pressure, an important factor on high-rise residential and commercial towers around Delhi NCR. At the same time, the lower water-cement ratio it permits reduces drying-shrinkage cracking, lowers permeability, improves resistance to carbonation and aggressive ground conditions, and increases long-term durability. Auramix DIS is also formulated to work with the realities of modern Indian concrete: fly ash and GGBS cement replacements, and manufactured sand, both of which can make mixes “thirsty” and harsh to pump.
Space Arc Engineering supplies Auramix DIS as an authorised Fosroc distributor and applicator. Because the uniformity parameters of any superplasticiser are tuned to a specific mix design, the figures below should be read as typical for the DIS family and confirmed against the Manufacturer’s Test Certificate (MTC) issued for the exact product configuration you are buying.
The technical insight
The defining feature of Auramix DIS is its polycarboxylic-ether backbone carrying long lateral (comb) chains. When the admixture enters the mix, the anionic backbone adsorbs onto the cement particle while the side chains project outward, creating a physical (steric) barrier that keeps grains apart long after the initial electrostatic charge has dissipated. This two-stage dispersion is why a PCE holds slump far longer than a naphthalene-based product: SNF relies almost entirely on electrostatic repulsion, which decays quickly as hydration consumes the adsorbed polymer. The consequence for a producer is a genuinely flat slump-loss curve, allowing a single dose to survive a long haul and a wait at the pump without re-tempering with water. Verified family data show a light brown liquid of volumetric mass around 1.08 plus or minus 0.02 kg/litre at 25 degrees C, a minimum pH of 6.0, and chloride content nil to IS:456, so it does not contribute to reinforcement corrosion. It is classified to IS 9103:1999 and meets ASTM C494 as a Type F (high-range water reducing) admixture at normal dose and Type G (high-range water reducing and retarding) at higher dose, the retarding behaviour being a function of dosage rather than a separate retarder. A practical caution: overdosing a PCE such as this is unforgiving, it shows up as bleeding, segregation, a slight rise in entrained air and extended set, so dispensing accuracy and trial-established dosage matter far more than with traditional admixtures.
Where it is used
- High-strength and high-performance RMC for columns, cores, transfer slabs and raft foundations
- Concrete pumped to great heights on high-rise residential and commercial towers
- Long-haul ready-mix where slump must survive transport and queuing at the pump
- Pumpable concrete requiring low viscosity and clean line flow
- Mixes incorporating fly ash or GGBS cement replacements
- Concrete made with manufactured (M-) sand that needs improved cohesion and workability
- Low water-cement-ratio durable concrete for water-retaining and aggressive-exposure structures
- Infrastructure works such as bridges, flyovers and industrial floors needing controlled workability retention
Key advantages
- High water reduction lifts compressive strength without adding cement
- Extended workability retention with a flat slump-loss curve for long hauls and pumping delays
- Low viscosity allows pumping to greater heights at lower line pressure
- Lower water-cement ratio reduces drying-shrinkage cracking and permeability
- Chloride-free (nil to IS:456), so no contribution to reinforcement corrosion
- Improves resistance to carbonation and aggressive atmospheric and ground conditions
- Performs well with fly ash, GGBS and manufactured-sand mixes
- Single-component liquid, easy to dose at plant or site with standard dispensers
- Compliant with IS 9103:1999 and ASTM C494 Type F and G
Limitations & considerations
- Overdosing causes bleeding, segregation, slightly higher air entrainment and delayed set, so accurate dispensing is essential
- Optimum dosage must be established by trials with the actual job materials, not assumed from the label
- PCE chemistry is sensitive to changes in cement, fly ash and sand source; mix re-validation is needed when materials change
- Not an air-entraining admixture; a separate AEA is required for freeze-thaw durability
- Not a curing compound, mould-release agent or waterproofing additive, despite the broad Auramix family name
- Cannot fully compensate for poor aggregate grading or excess fines in M-sand
- Shelf life is limited to about 12 months and the product should be protected from freezing and storage above 50 degrees C
- Exact specific gravity, pH and chloride values vary by configuration and must be checked against the batch MTC
Selection & best practice
Always fix the working dosage by laboratory and site trials using the exact cement, fly ash or GGBS, sand and aggregate that will be used in production, then lock it into the batching system. Add Auramix DIS to the mix water or to wet concrete that already contains some water; never dispense it onto dry aggregate or dry cement, where it cannot disperse properly. Keep dispensing equipment calibrated, because the gap between optimum and overdose is narrow with a PCE. Do not pre-mix it with other admixtures in the same dispenser line; if a retarder, AEA or VMA is also required, dose each separately and run a trial for compatibility. Store drums under cover between 20 and 50 degrees C, keep them sealed, and use within the 12-month shelf life. For high-rise pumping, confirm the held slump and pumpability on a trial pour before committing to a full pump cycle. Verify the specific gravity and chloride content on delivery against the MTC supplied with the consignment.

How we position Fosroc Auramix DIS
As an authorised Fosroc distributor and applicator serving Delhi NCR and Pan-India, Space Arc Engineering positions Auramix DIS as the PCE superplasticiser of choice when a single admixture must deliver both deep water reduction and long workability retention, especially for pumpable, high-strength RMC on high-rise and infrastructure projects. Within Fosroc’s own catalogue it belongs to the Auramix PCE family alongside Auramix 300, 350, 350 DIS, 400 and 500, which share the chemistry but differ in their water-reduction, retardation and strength-gain balance; for heavily retarded mass pours the retarding Auramix grades or Fosroc Conplast retarders may suit better, and for durability it complements Fosroc Concure curing compounds and waterproofing systems. Credible competing PCE admixtures in the Indian market include Sika ViscoCrete, MBS (Master Builders Solutions) MasterGlenium, Dr. Fixit and STP superplasticisers; selection usually turns on local technical support, consistent MTC values and proven performance with the project’s actual cement, fly ash and manufactured sand.
