Conbextra GP4
Dual Shrinkage Compensated High Strength Free-Flow Cementitious Grout (Type C)
Authorized Project Distributor — Fosroc India | Space Arc Engineering, Ghaziabad
Product Overview
Conbextra GP4 is a factory pre-blended, single-component, free-flow, dual shrinkage compensated (plastic and long-term) cementitious precision grout conforming to Type C of BS EN 1504-6. It delivers higher compressive and flexural strength than Conbextra GP3, making it the preferred choice where elevated load-bearing capacity is required in the grouted joint — for example, heavily loaded machine bases in power generation, large crane pedestals, structural column base plates in high-rise construction, and pre-cast concrete connection joints subject to high design loads. Like all members of the Conbextra GP family, GP4 is non-shrink and maintains positive contact between the base plate and foundation at all times, ensuring full bearing area. The dual shrinkage compensation system addresses both plastic shrinkage (during setting) and long-term drying shrinkage (during curing), giving the most complete dimensional stability of any cementitious grout. Space Arc Engineering distributes Conbextra GP4 for power sector, heavy industrial, and large structural projects across Delhi NCR and Northern India.
Applications
- Heavily loaded machine base grouting requiring high compressive strength
- Large turbine and generator base plate grouting
- High-load crane and gantry pedestal grouting
- Structural column base plate grouting in high-rise and heavy structures
- Pre-cast connection joint grouting under high design loads
- Rail bearing and bridge shoe grouting requiring high strength specification
Key Advantages

Frequently Asked Questions
When should Conbextra GP4 be specified over GP3?
Conbextra GP4 should be specified when the design loading on the grouted joint requires compressive strength above 50 MPa, or when the specification explicitly calls for a high-strength cementitious grout in addition to Type C dual shrinkage compensation. For standard machine base and column base plate grouting where 50 MPa is sufficient, GP3 is typically adequate.
Is Conbextra GP4 suitable for use in tropical climates?
Yes. Conbextra GP4 is suitable for tropical and high-temperature climates. However, in very high ambient temperatures (above 35 degrees C), the working time reduces and the rate of strength gain accelerates. Pre-cooling the mixing water and keeping substrate and aggregate cool will help maintain adequate working time. Consult Space Arc Engineering for advice on hot weather grouting procedures.
Can Conbextra GP4 be extended with aggregate to reduce cost?
For gap thicknesses above 100 mm, Conbextra GP4 can be extended with clean, well-graded washed aggregate (maximum 10 mm size, pre-wetted). The aggregate must be free of dust and deleterious materials. Extending reduces cost and also reduces heat of hydration in thick pours. The proportion of extension should not exceed what Fosroc recommends in the TDS, and Space Arc Engineering can advise on mix design for extended pours.
