Product Overview
Conbextra HR is a factory pre-blended, single-component, heat resistant, non-shrink cementitious precision grout designed for grouting machinery and equipment whose base plates or foundations are subject to elevated service temperatures. Ordinary Portland cement-based grouts suffer progressive strength loss and expansion when exposed to temperatures above approximately 80 degrees C in service — a problem that causes loosening of grouted machine bases and eventual misalignment of rotating equipment. Conbextra HR uses refractory grade cementitious binders that are stable at elevated temperature, maintaining structural integrity and positive contact with the base plate even when subject to long-term elevated temperature exposure. It is used for boilers, kilns, hot gas fans, high-temperature compressors, and other process plant items where the temperature at the grout interface may exceed normal cementitious grout service limits. Does Conbextra HR require special curing procedures?
Conbextra HR should be cured in the normal manner after placement — wet curing for a minimum of 3 days. It should not be exposed to its elevated service temperature while still green. Allow the grout to cure fully (typically 7 days before gradual first heat-up) and follow any plant commissioning warm-up protocol to allow controlled thermal expansion of the assembly before full operating temperature is reached.
Can Conbextra HR replace standard Conbextra GP grouts on all grouting work?
Conbextra HR is a specialized product for high-temperature applications and is more costly than standard Conbextra GP grouts. It should be specified only where the service temperature at the grout interface will exceed what a standard cementitious grout (typically 80 degrees C sustained) can handle. For ambient temperature machinery grouting, standard Conbextra GP3 or GP4 are preferred for both performance and economy.
