Fosroc Concure 90
Spray-applied curing membrane that locks moisture into fresh concrete for stronger, more durable, dust-free surfaces on large-area pours.
What is it?
A spray-applied liquid membrane-forming curing compound that seals the surface of freshly placed concrete to retain mix water and ensure complete cement hydration.
Where is it used?
Large-area horizontal pours – airport runways, highways, RCC pavements, bridge decks, slabs and industrial floors across Delhi NCR and Pan-India.
Why use it?
Eliminates the labour, water and supervision burden of ponding or wet hessian curing while reducing surface cracking, dusting and permeability.
How is it applied?
Sprayed in a single even coat over green concrete as soon as surface water has disappeared, forming a continuous moisture-retaining film.
About Fosroc Concure 90
Fosroc Concure 90 is a spray-applied membrane-forming curing compound engineered to retain moisture within freshly placed concrete so that cement hydration can proceed fully and uniformly. When concrete is poured, its strength and durability depend almost entirely on how well the mix water is kept in place during the first critical days. In Indian field conditions – high ambient temperatures across the plains, dry winds in the North, and acute water scarcity on remote highway and runway stretches – traditional curing by ponding or wet hessian is difficult to control, labour-intensive and inconsistent. Concure 90 addresses this directly. Applied as a fine spray, it lays down a continuous film over the green surface that dramatically slows evaporation, holding the water of convenience inside the slab where it is needed for hydration rather than allowing it to escape into a hot, dry atmosphere. The result is concrete that develops its designed strength, gains a harder and more abrasion-resistant top surface, and shows a markedly lower tendency to crack, dust or craze. Fosroc positions Concure 90 squarely at large-area concreting – it is of particular benefit on airport runways, roads and bridgeworks where the sheer surface area makes wet curing impractical and where uniformity of curing across thousands of square metres is essential. Light-reflective grades within the Concure family also help by reflecting solar radiation, keeping the slab cooler and reducing the thermal gradients that drive early-age cracking. For a Fosroc-authorised distributor such as Space Arc Engineering, Concure 90 is a core specification item for infrastructure and pavement contractors who need predictable curing performance without the logistics of water bowsers and curing crews on every pour.
The technical insight
A curing compound works on a simple but unforgiving principle: hydration of Portland cement continues only while free water remains available, and a slab that loses its mix water in the first 72 hours can forfeit a large share of its potential strength and almost all of its surface durability. Concure 90 functions as a physical barrier – a thin film applied at the moment the surface bleed water has just disappeared – that suppresses evaporation rather than adding water back. The efficiency of any such membrane is measured against BS 7542 (water-retention / curing efficiency test) and ASTM C309; Fosroc’s high-efficiency Concure grades are formulated to deliver in the order of 90% water retention, and the “90” designation reflects this performance class. The key engineering judgement on site is timing and uniformity: applied too early it sinks into bleed water and is ineffective; applied too late, evaporation has already begun and plastic shrinkage cracks may have formed. A single, unbroken coat at the manufacturer’s stated spreading rate is what delivers the rated efficiency – thin or patchy application leaves windows through which water escapes. Because exact figures vary by grade and revision, the project-specific spreading rate, efficiency value and grade colour must be confirmed against the current Fosroc Concure 90 Technical Data Sheet for your region before specification.
Where it is used
- Curing of airport runway, taxiway and apron concrete pavements
- Curing of highway and expressway rigid (RCC) pavements and service roads
- Bridge decks, approach slabs and large bridgeworks
- Industrial ground-floor slabs and warehouse floors
- Large-area raft foundations and water-retaining structure bases
- Canal linings, hardstandings and other extensive horizontal concrete surfaces
Key advantages
- Improves cement hydration for fuller strength gain and more durable concrete
- Controls moisture loss, raising surface quality and reducing permeability
- Produces a harder-wearing, dust-free surface less prone to abrasion
- Minimises surface cracking, crazing and plastic shrinkage
- Spray application is fast and cuts the labour cost of wet curing
- Eliminates the need for ponding, hessian or water bowsers on large pours
- Light-reflective grades reduce solar heat gain and thermal stress
- Ideal for water-scarce sites where conventional curing is impractical
Limitations & considerations
- A curing aid only – not a decorative, waterproofing or protective topcoat
- Must be applied at the correct time (after bleed water disappears) for rated efficiency; patchy or late application reduces performance
- May need removal or scarification before applying bonded toppings, screeds, tile adhesives, coatings or membranes
- Resin/solvent-based grades require ventilation and fire precautions; check the SDS
- Performance figures (coverage, efficiency, grade) vary by region and revision – always verify against the current TDS
- Not a substitute for correct mix design, placing and compaction
Selection & best practice
Apply Concure 90 as a single continuous spray coat immediately after the surface bleed water has evaporated and the concrete has lost its sheen, but before the surface dries out – on hot, windy Indian sites this window can be very short, so keep the spray equipment ready at the pour. Use a clean, low-pressure sprayer held roughly 450 mm from the surface and maintain steady pressure to lay down a fine, even mist with no gaps, streaks or pooling. Apply at the spreading rate stated on the current TDS; under-application is the most common cause of poor curing efficiency. On freshly struck vertical or formed faces, treat as soon as forms are removed. Where a bonded screed, topping, flooring, tile adhesive, coating or waterproofing membrane is to follow, plan to mechanically remove the cured film (e.g. by grinding or scarifying) so the overlay can bond, or specify a curing method compatible with the subsequent finish. Always confirm grade selection, coverage and overcoating compatibility with Space Arc Engineering’s technical team before ordering.

How we position Fosroc Concure 90
Concure 90 sits in Fosroc’s high-efficiency curing range and is the go-to choice for very large horizontal pours where wet curing is impractical. Within the Fosroc line it is closely related to Concure LP90 and Concure LP90(M) (the aluminised, light-reflective polymer grade that dries to a silver film), to the water-based Concure WB and Concure WB Std (lower-VOC, white-pigmented options favoured where solvent emissions or appearance matter), and to economy grades such as Concure A and Concure S. Choose a higher-efficiency or light-reflective Concure grade for runways and exposed highway slabs in peak summer; choose a water-based grade where low odour, low VOC or a reflective white finish is preferred. Against competitor curing compounds – Sika Antisol and Sika Antisol E/WB, MYK / MBS / BASF MasterKure, Dr. Fixit Pidicure, and STP curing compounds – Concure 90 competes on Fosroc’s documented BS 7542 / ASTM C309 performance and the assurance of buying genuine, batch-traceable product with technical backup from an authorised distributor. For any bonded flooring, screed or coating overlay, confirm compatibility first, as all film-forming curing compounds (Fosroc or otherwise) may need removal before overcoating. Space Arc Engineering can specify the correct Concure grade and supply genuine stock across Delhi NCR and Pan-India.
