Fosroc Concure P
A spray-applied PVA emulsion curing membrane that seals fresh concrete against moisture loss, cutting plastic shrinkage cracking and ensuring complete cement hydration on slabs, decks and walls.
What is it?
A ready-to-use, milky-white liquid curing compound based on a non-toxic PVA (polyvinyl acetate) emulsion with plasticisers, which dries to a clear, continuous film over fresh concrete.
Where is it used?
Freshly placed slabs, pavements, bridge decks, floors, columns and walls on building, infrastructure and industrial projects across Delhi NCR and Pan-India.
Why use it?
It retains mix water in the concrete so cement hydrates fully, developing design strength and durability while preventing plastic shrinkage and surface crazing, without the labour of ponding or hessian.
How is it applied?
Sprayed (knapsack or motorised) or applied by soft brush, broom or roller in a single even coat at not more than 6 m2 per litre, as soon as surface bleed water disappears after final trowelling.
About Fosroc Concure P
Fosroc Concure P is a membrane-forming concrete curing compound supplied as a milky-white liquid that cures to a clear film. Chemically it is a stable emulsion built on a suitably processed, non-toxic polyvinyl acetate (PVA) emulsion combined with plasticisers, and it is delivered ready for immediate use straight from the container. When sprayed or brushed onto freshly finished concrete, the emulsion dries within roughly 60 to 120 minutes (1 to 2 hours) to lay down a thin, non-staining, continuous film. That film acts as a physical barrier that holds the mixing water inside the concrete instead of letting it evaporate into the hot, dry, or windy conditions that dominate much of the Indian construction calendar.
Proper curing is the single most cost-effective step in achieving the 28-day strength and long-term durability that a concrete mix is designed for, yet it is routinely shortchanged on site. Traditional methods such as ponding, wet hessian, sand layers, or polyethylene sheeting are water-intensive, labour-heavy, and almost impossible to keep continuously moist on large pours or vertical faces. Concure P replaces all of these with a one-time application. As soon as the bleed water has disappeared after final trowelling, the compound is applied in a single even coat at a rate of not more than 6 m2 per litre. On vertical work, such as columns and walls, it is applied immediately after the formwork is struck.
The product is positioned by Fosroc within its surface-treatments and curing-membrane range. A white-pigmented version of Concure P is also available where light reflectance is specified, for example on large exposed slabs where reducing solar heat gain during early-age curing helps limit thermal stress. Because the film can be over-coated by later trades (rendering, painting and similar finishes) where conditions allow, Concure P fits cleanly into a normal construction sequence rather than dictating it. For Space Arc Engineering customers in Delhi NCR and across India, it is a straightforward, dependable curing solution for slabs, pavements, floors, decks and structural concrete where water curing is impractical or unreliable.
The technical insight
Concure P works by film-forming water retention rather than by chemically reacting with the concrete. The PVA-emulsion solids coalesce as the water phase evaporates, knitting together into a continuous membrane that drastically slows further moisture loss from the surface. This keeps the internal relative humidity high enough for the cement’s hydration reactions to continue, which is what actually builds strength and a dense, low-permeability surface zone. The efficiency of the film is governed by applying a genuinely continuous, unbroken coat, which is why the maximum spread rate of 6 m2/litre matters; stretching the material thinner leaves pinholes and compromises retention. With a specific gravity of 1.020 to 1.030 at 25 degrees Celsius, it is essentially a water-thin emulsion, so it must not be diluted with solvent, and equipment is cleaned with water before the film sets. A key practical distinction: Concure P is a PVA-based membrane that can be over-coated by later trades, whereas resin or wax curing compounds in the wider Concure family (such as the wax-emulsion Concure WB309, which is independently classed as an ASTM C309 Type 2 compound) form films that may need mechanical removal before bonded finishes. Fosroc does not publish a numeric water-retention efficiency or an ASTM C156 figure for Concure P, so specifiers needing a certified retention class should request that data or select a grade that carries it.
Where it is used
- Curing of freshly cast suspended and ground-bearing slabs in commercial and residential buildings
- Curing of concrete pavements, hardstandings and industrial floor slabs
- Bridge decks, culverts and other infrastructure concrete where continuous water curing is impractical
- Curing of vertical concrete such as columns, retaining walls and shear walls immediately after de-shuttering
- Large exposed pours where the white-pigmented grade is used to reflect solar heat during early-age curing
- Rendered and screeded cementitious surfaces requiring controlled moisture retention
- Hot, dry or windy site conditions typical of North Indian summers where evaporative water loss is severe
Key advantages
- Ready to use straight from the container with no mixing, batching or dilution required
- Single spray or brush coat replaces water-intensive ponding, hessian, sand or polyethylene curing
- Reduces plastic shrinkage and surface crazing by sealing in mix water for fuller cement hydration
- Fast film formation in 60 to 120 minutes lets follow-on site activity resume quickly
- Forms a non-staining, clear, continuous film that does not discolour finished concrete
- Can be over-coated by later trades such as rendering and painting where conditions permit
- Non-flammable and non-toxic under normal usage, simplifying handling on busy sites
- Low labour requirement and fast coverage lower the in-place cost of effective curing
- White-pigmented option available where light reflectance is specified
Limitations & considerations
- Must not be used where after-trade painting or rendering is critical and bond is essential, or where back-water pressure or condensation is expected
- Must not be applied to stained, oily or contaminated concrete or render, which causes discolouration, non-uniformity or poor bond of later treatments
- Must not be diluted with solvent; the emulsion is supplied at working consistency
- Effectiveness depends on a continuous unbroken film, so the 6 m2/litre maximum spread rate must not be exceeded
- Containers must be kept sealed and stored under cover, away from direct sun, to avoid the emulsion destabilising
- Fosroc does not publish a numeric water-retention efficiency or ASTM C156/C309 classification for this grade; projects needing a certified retention class should request data or choose a classified product
- As a water-based emulsion it is sensitive to rain or wash-off before the film has formed
Selection & best practice
Apply Concure P in one even coat the moment the surface bleed water has evaporated after final trowelling, typically 1 to 2 hours after finishing depending on temperature and humidity; do not wait until the surface has dried out, and do not flood the membrane on while bleed water is still present. Stir the container thoroughly before use, then spray with a knapsack or motorised sprayer for the most uniform film, keeping the spread rate at or below 6 m2/litre. Where spray gear is unavailable, use a soft brush, broom or wide-nap roller once the surface is hard enough to walk a finish without marking it. Treat vertical concrete immediately after stripping formwork. Confirm the surface is free of oil, stains and curing-incompatible residues first, especially where a bonded render, screed, paint or flooring system will follow, and on those bonded interfaces verify compatibility or select an over-coatable detail before committing. Flush all spray lines and nozzles with water immediately after use, store sealed containers under cover out of direct sun, and protect freshly applied membrane from rain until the film has fully formed.

How we position Fosroc Concure P
Concure P sits at the economical, general-purpose end of the Fosroc curing range as a PVA-emulsion membrane and is best chosen when fast, low-labour curing is needed and a certified retention class is not mandated. Within the Fosroc family, step up to the wax-emulsion Concure WB309 (described as an ASTM C309 Type 2 compound) or the resin-based Concure series when a classified water-retention efficiency is specified, and consider the white-pigmented grade for large exposed pours needing solar reflectance. Against competitor products, it is comparable to Sika Antisol curing compounds, MBS (Master Builders Solutions) MasterKure, Dr. Fixit Pidicure, and STP curing compounds; the practical selection usually turns on whether a bonded finish will follow, whether an ASTM C309 certificate is required, and local availability. As an authorised Fosroc distributor, Space Arc Engineering can cross-reference these alternatives and recommend the right curing membrane, alongside complementary Fosroc concrete admixtures, waterproofing membranes, joint sealants, grouts and repair mortars for a single-source supply.
