What is it?

A ready-to-use, single-component blend of inorganic cements, graded aggregates, special fillers and chemical additives that needs only clean water on site to produce a free-flowing, self-compacting, high-strength repair concrete with rapid early strength gain.

Where is it used?

Emergency and fast-turnaround reinstatement of damaged or deteriorated concrete — airport runways and aprons, highways and toll roads, dock and port pavements, warehouse and factory floors, and any horizontal area where wheeled traffic must return to service quickly. Used internally and externally.

Why use it?

It restores load-bearing concrete and reopens the area to vehicular traffic within hours rather than days, self-compacts to eliminate honeycombing, resists abrasion and weather, and contains no chloride admixtures — ideal where downtime is the real cost.

How is it applied?

Saw-cut and break out the repair to at least 20 mm, saturate the substrate (prime with Nitobond AR where soaking is not possible), force-action mix one full bag with clean water, then pour or pump in a single continuous operation up to 100 mm thick. Cure immediately with Concure.

About Fosroc Patchroc RSP100

Fosroc Patchroc RSP100 belongs to Fosroc’s Patchroc family of rapid-setting patch repair concretes, engineered specifically for situations where a concrete pavement or floor has failed and the owner simply cannot afford a long closure. It is supplied as a factory-blended powder that requires only the addition of clean water on site. Once mixed, it behaves as a fluid micro-concrete that flows into the prepared cavity, self-compacts around any reinforcement and into corners, and then sets and hardens far faster than conventional repair mortars or site-batched concrete. The result is a dense, high-strength patch that can carry wheeled traffic the same shift it is laid. The “RSP” designation stands for Rapid Setting Pavement repair, and the product is positioned for the most demanding fast-return applications — most notably airport runways and aprons, where a runway closure is measured in lost flights, and highways and toll plazas, where lane closures carry heavy penalties. In the Indian market this makes RSP100 a specialist product rather than a general-purpose patching compound: it is chosen by airport authorities, NHAI and PWD contractors, port trusts, and large industrial occupiers who need a verifiable, branded, single-pack system that performs predictably in the field. Because it is a controlled factory blend, it removes the variability of site-mixed sand-cement-additive repairs and gives consultants a documented, ASTM-tested product to specify. Space Arc Engineering supplies and applies the Patchroc range across Delhi NCR and Pan-India as an authorised Fosroc distributor and applicator, with technical back-up on substrate preparation, priming and curing — the three areas where rapid-set repairs most often go wrong on site.

The technical insight

The performance of Patchroc RSP100 comes from its cement chemistry, not from a polymer film. The Fosroc Patchroc RSP system is built on a blend of inorganic cements plus special fillers and chemical additives that deliberately control the rate of strength gain — giving a workable fluid mix for placing, then a fast, controlled set. On the tested RSP datasheet this delivers an initial set of about 10-15 minutes and a final set of 30-40 minutes, with compressive strength (ASTM C109/C109M) climbing to 30-35 N/mm² by 4 hours and 61-70 N/mm² at 28 days — strength comparable to or exceeding the parent concrete it repairs. Crucially, this is achieved with no chloride admixtures, so there is no added corrosion risk to embedded steel, and the material shows good thermal compatibility with the surrounding concrete, so the patch expands and contracts with the slab instead of debonding at the edges. The two technical decisions that govern a successful pour are water content and placement window: the typical mix is run at a low water:powder ratio (around 0.18, roughly 5-5.5 litres of clean water per 30 kg bag), and the fluid mix must be placed within about 10 minutes of mixing to use its full self-levelling flow before the set begins. Get those two right, and you get a void-free, self-compacting patch; get them wrong, and the fast set works against you.

Where it is used

  • Emergency reinstatement of damaged or deteriorated concrete pavements and floors
  • Airport runway, taxiway and apron repairs requiring fast return to aircraft and ground-vehicle traffic
  • Highway, expressway and toll-road carriageway patch repairs with minimal lane-closure time
  • Port, dock and container-yard pavement repairs under heavy wheeled and point loads
  • Industrial and warehouse floor repairs where production downtime must be minimised
  • Bridge deck and approach-slab spot repairs ahead of overlay or resurfacing
  • Repairs to loading bays, ramps and hardstandings subject to abrasion and impact
  • Full-depth and partial-depth patch repairs from 20 mm up to 100 mm in a single pour (deeper sections bulked with graded aggregate up to 250 mm)

Key advantages

  • Rapid strength gain — accepts vehicular traffic within hours, slashing road and runway closure time
  • Self-compacting fluid micro-concrete eliminates honeycombing and voids without heavy vibration
  • High strength: up to 61-70 N/mm² compressive at 28 days, matching or exceeding host concrete
  • Excellent abrasion and weather resistance for exposed trafficked surfaces
  • Contains no chloride admixtures — no added corrosion risk to reinforcement
  • Single-component, factory-blended powder — only clean water added, removing site-mix variability
  • Good thermal compatibility with concrete, reducing the risk of edge debonding and cracking
  • Can be bulked with graded aggregate for deeper sections, improving economy on thick repairs
  • Usable internally and externally, on horizontal surfaces and (with formwork) vertically

Limitations & considerations

  • Very short working life — mixed material must be placed within about 10 minutes, demanding adequate mixing capacity and labour to pour continuously
  • Do not apply below 5°C substrate/air temperature; in hot conditions (above 30°C) store in shade, use cool water and prefer night-time pours to avoid evaporation cracking
  • Part bags must never be mixed — the controlled blend depends on the full pack
  • Requires a properly saturated (or Nitobond AR primed) substrate and immediate curing; skipping either step causes debonding or surface scour
  • Minimum applied thickness 20 mm — not suited to thin feather-edged or skim repairs
  • Should not be exposed to moving water during application; heavy rainfall before final set can scour the surface
  • A forced-action mixer is essential — hand mixing or a free-fall drum mixer is not acceptable
  • For very large pavement and floor areas, Fosroc recommends a screed product such as Paveroc rather than patch-grade RSP

Selection & best practice

Treat preparation, water control and curing as the three make-or-break steps. Saw-cut the perimeter and break out to at least 20 mm to avoid feather edges, remove all unsound concrete, laitance, oil and corrosion deposits, and blow clean with oil-free compressed air. Saturate the substrate thoroughly, then remove standing water to leave it saturated surface-dry immediately before placing; where soaking is impossible, scrub in Nitobond AR primer and place while it is still tacky. Use a forced-action mixer, add the full bag to the measured water (never the reverse), and keep mixing capacity and labour high enough to place each repair in one continuous pour within 10 minutes. Hold to the low water content — over-watering kills strength and invites cracking. Cure immediately with a Fosroc Concure curing membrane, and back it up with polythene sheeting in hot or fast-drying conditions and frost protection in the cold. Always run a small site trial when bulking with aggregate for deep sections.

Frequently asked questions

How quickly can traffic run on Patchroc RSP100?
It is designed for fast return to service. On the Patchroc RSP system, pedestrian access is possible after about 1-2 hours and the material develops 30-35 N/mm² compressive strength by 4 hours, so wheeled and vehicular traffic can typically be accepted within hours of placing — which is the whole reason it is specified for runways and highways. Confirm the exact figure for your job temperature against the current Fosroc datasheet.
What thickness can I apply in one pour, and what is the minimum?
You can place up to 100 mm in a single application. The minimum applied thickness is 20 mm, so it is not suitable for thin feather-edged or skim repairs. For deeper sections up to 250 mm, the material is bulked with graded silt-free aggregate to a Fosroc-recommended mix design — run a site trial first.
How much water do I add, and can I mix part of a bag?
Use only clean water at a low water:powder ratio (around 0.18, roughly 5-5.5 litres per 30 kg bag). Always add the powder to the water and use a forced-action mixer. Never mix part bags — the controlled cement and additive blend depends on the full pack, and part-mixing will give inconsistent set and strength.
Does it need a primer or bonding coat?
Usually no separate primer is needed if the substrate is properly saturated then brought to a saturated surface-dry condition before placing. Where soaking is not possible, scrub in Fosroc Nitobond AR and place the Patchroc while the primer is still tacky. Re-prime if the primer dries before you pour.
How is coverage calculated for ordering?
Yield is approximately 15.5 litres per 30 kg bag, which covers about 0.76 m² at 20 mm thickness. Scale by your actual patch depth and add a wastage allowance for irregular break-outs. Space Arc Engineering can work out bag quantities from your repair schedule.
Is Patchroc RSP100 safe for reinforced concrete?
Yes — it contains no chloride admixtures, so it adds no corrosion risk to embedded steel, and it has good thermal compatibility with the surrounding concrete. As with any cementitious repair, expose and treat corroded reinforcement first (Fosroc Nitozinc primer is commonly used) before placing the patch.

How we position Fosroc Patchroc RSP100

Patchroc RSP100 sits at the rapid-set, fast-return-to-traffic end of Fosroc’s concrete repair range, above general patching mortars and below large-area screeds. Within the Fosroc system it is closely related to Patchroc RSP and Patchroc GP, pairs naturally with Nitobond AR primer and the Concure curing range, follows Nitozinc/Nitobond reinforcement treatment where steel is exposed, and hands over to Paveroc when the area is too large for patch-grade work; for flowable structural repairs of larger sections, Renderoc and Conbextra grouts cover adjacent needs. Compared with competitor systems, the most direct alternatives in the Indian market are Sika’s rapid repair concretes (e.g. SikaQuick / Sika MonoTop fast-set grades), MBS (MYK Schomburg) ASOCRET fast-repair mortars, Dr. Fixit’s repair-mortar range from Pidilite, and STP / Sika fast-set pavement products. Where buyers should choose RSP100 is the specific case of trafficked horizontal concrete that must reopen the same shift — runways, aprons, highways and heavy industrial floors — with a documented, ASTM-tested, chloride-free single-pack blend. For thin cosmetic or vertical/overhead repairs, a thixotropic mortar such as Renderoc or a competitor equivalent is a better fit. As an authorised Fosroc distributor and applicator across Delhi NCR and Pan-India, Space Arc Engineering can supply RSP100 with the matching primer and curing products and provide on-site guidance so the rapid set works for you rather than against you.
