Fosroc Patchroc
A rapid-setting, single-component cementitious patch mortar that lets roads, floors and pavements carry traffic again within hours of the repair.
What is it?
A pre-bagged, single-component rapid-setting cementitious repair mortar (Fosroc’s Patchroc GP grade) for fast reinstatement of localised concrete patches. It complies with BS EN 1504-3 Class R4.
Where is it used?
Concrete pavements, roads, industrial and warehouse floors, access ramps, airport aprons, kerbs, footpaths and car-park decks where downtime must be kept short.
Why use it?
It develops early strength quickly, so a patch can accept foot and then vehicular traffic the same shift, avoiding overnight or multi-day lane and floor closures.
How is it applied?
Break out to a square edge, saturate and prime the substrate, gauge one bag with clean water in a forced-action mixer, place and compact into the prepared pocket, then finish and cure.
About Fosroc Patchroc
Patchroc is Fosroc’s answer to the repair that cannot wait. Sold in India as Patchroc GP, it arrives as a factory-blended dry powder of cements, graded aggregates, special fillers and performance additives, and it needs nothing on site except clean water and a mixer. That single-component format matters on a live site: there is no separate liquid polymer to gauge, no batching guesswork, and no batch-to-batch drift, so the mortar a contractor mixes at 6 a.m. behaves the same as the one mixed at noon. Because it is shrinkage-compensated and alkaline in nature, it bonds tightly to sound concrete and helps protect embedded reinforcement rather than leaving it exposed to fresh corrosion.
What sets it apart from a general-purpose repair mortar is the pace of strength gain. Patchroc is engineered to accept traffic in a matter of hours, not days, which is exactly what a highway authority, a warehouse operator or an airport maintenance team needs when a pothole, spall or delaminated slab is disrupting operations. For Space Arc’s clients across Delhi NCR and pan-India, that translates into repairs scheduled around a night shift or a plant shutdown window, with the surface back in service before the next one begins. It is a horizontal-repair product first and foremost, chosen where speed of reinstatement and durability under wheel loads both matter.
The technical insight
The speed comes from the cement chemistry and a deliberately low water demand. The blend is formulated to reach a workable, near self-compacting consistency at a small water addition, and low water content is the single biggest lever on early strength and long-term durability in a cementitious mortar. Less mixing water means a denser matrix, fewer capillary voids and faster hydration, which is why Patchroc can pass useful compressive strength within the first few hours and continue climbing to a high 28-day figure. The shrinkage-compensating additives counteract the drying shrinkage that would otherwise open a debonding crack around the perimeter of a thin patch, so the repair stays keyed into the parent slab. Its thermal compatibility with concrete keeps the patch and the substrate expanding and contracting together under daily temperature swings, and because the mix carries no added chlorides and stays alkaline, it reinstates the passivating environment around any rebar within the repair zone instead of accelerating its corrosion.
Where it is used
- Emergency pothole and localised patch repair on concrete roads and highways
- Reinstatement of spalled or delaminated industrial and warehouse floor slabs
- Repair of access ramps, loading bays and vehicle-trafficked decks
- Airport apron, taxiway and hardstanding patch reinstatement
- Kerb, channel and footpath repairs in urban infrastructure
- Car-park and multi-storey deck surface repairs
- Making good defects and blow-holes in precast concrete elements
- Fast reinstatement around drainage covers, joints and slab edges
Key advantages
- Rapid strength gain lets the repair accept traffic in hours, minimising closures
- Single-component, water-only mixing removes site batching and polymer gauging errors
- Factory pre-blending gives consistent, repeatable quality bag to bag
- Shrinkage-compensated formulation resists perimeter debonding on thin patches
- Near self-compacting consistency fills pockets and awkward profiles cleanly
- Alkaline, chloride-free matrix helps protect embedded reinforcement
- Good abrasion and weather resistance for exposed, trafficked surfaces
- Complies with BS EN 1504-3 Class R4 for structural concrete repair
Limitations & considerations
- Designed for horizontal repairs; not intended for vertical or overhead patching (use a Renderoc reinstatement mortar instead)
- Short working life of roughly 20-30 minutes means only one bag should be mixed and placed at a time
- Rapid set makes it unforgiving in hot weather; over 35 C plan night work and cool the mixing water
- Applied within a defined depth band per pocket; deeper or very large sections need a Patchroc C / Paveroc-type product or built-up layers
- Demands proper substrate preparation, saturation and priming, or the fast set can compromise bond
- A forced-action or heavy-duty paddle mixer is essential; free-fall drum mixers are not suitable
Selection & best practice
Cut back the repair extremities to a square edge to avoid feather-edging, then break out to the specified minimum depth over the full patch. Remove all unsound concrete, dust, oil and laitance, and grit-blast any exposed steel back to bright metal before priming it with Nitoprime Zincrich. Saturate the substrate with clean water, remove standing water, and apply a bonding primer such as Nitobond AR or diluted Nitoprime 330, placing the mortar while the primer is still tacky. Gauge one full bag with the recommended clean water in a forced-action mixer for about three minutes, then place, compact and finish promptly within the working life. Mix only what can be placed in that window, and in hot weather shift the work to a night shift and use cool water to protect workability and bond.

Industry use cases
Highways & Roads
Overnight pothole and joint-edge repairs on concrete carriageways, reopening the lane to traffic before the morning peak.
Warehousing & Logistics
Patching spalled floor slabs and loading-bay edges during a single shutdown window so MHE and racking traffic can resume the same shift.
Aviation Infrastructure
Rapid apron, taxiway and hardstanding patch reinstatement within tight non-operational slots between aircraft movements.
Industrial Plants
Fast repair of trafficked floors, ramps and equipment plinths during planned maintenance shutdowns to limit production downtime.
Urban & Municipal Works
Kerb, channel, footpath and car-park deck repairs where public access has to be restored quickly with minimal cordoning.

How we position Fosroc Patchroc
Within the Fosroc concrete-repair range, Patchroc GP is the horizontal, fast-set specialist. For vertical, overhead or reprofiling repairs, pair or substitute with Fosroc Renderoc GP, and prime substrates with Nitobond AR or Nitobond SBR and exposed steel with Nitoprime Zincrich for a complete, warranty-friendly system; larger pavement areas are better served by a Paveroc-type product. Where a client’s specification calls for another brand, Space Arc can also supply equivalent fast-setting repair mortars from Sika, MC-Bauchemie and Dr. Fixit, but for BS EN 1504-3 Class R4 rapid patching on trafficked concrete, Patchroc GP remains the direct, proven choice.
