Fosroc Structuro 343T
New-generation high-range water-reducing superplasticiser engineered for tunnel-lining and self-compacting concrete, supplied across Delhi NCR and Pan-India by Space Arc Engineering.
What is it?
Fosroc Structuro 343T is a water-based, new-generation high-range water-reducing (HRWR) superplasticising admixture from the Fosroc Structuro range, formulated specifically for tunnel-lining concrete and other high-fluidity, high-early-strength mixes.
Where is it used?
Used in tunnel and metro segmental/cast-in-situ linings, self-compacting (SCC) and self-levelling concrete, precast units, and any structural concrete demanding very high flow without vibration plus strong early-age strength.
Why use it?
It dramatically cuts mixing water at constant workability, lifting early and ultimate compressive strength while producing a stable, homogeneous, segregation-resistant concrete that can be placed without vibration.
How is it applied?
Dosed into the concrete during batching at roughly 0.6-1.5% by weight of cement, dispersed in the mixing water or added to the wet mix; the optimum rate is fixed by site trials with the actual materials.
About Fosroc Structuro 343T
Fosroc Structuro 343T sits in Fosroc’s premium Structuro family of high-performance concrete admixtures and is positioned as a tunnel-lining superplasticiser. It is a new-generation, high-range water-reducing additive built to deliver a large reduction in mixing water without any loss of workability or performance. In practice this lets a producer either slash the water/cement ratio at constant slump to gain strength and durability, or hold the w/c ratio and gain dramatic flow — the dual behaviour that defines a true superplasticiser rather than an ordinary plasticiser.
The product is engineered around the demanding requirements of tunnel and underground concrete, where pumpability, long-distance placement, congested reinforcement and the need to avoid vibration all converge. Structuro 343T allows the production of extremely fluid concrete that can be poured and placed without vibration, which is exactly what segmental linings, invert and arch pours, and shotcrete-adjacent cast-in-situ work demand. Beyond tunnelling it is well suited to self-compacting and self-levelling concrete, precast elements, and any structural mix that needs a normal workability window combined with high initial strength and high ultimate performance.
For the Indian market — where metro corridors in Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai and the expanding tunnelling programmes of NHAI, hydroelectric and rail projects drive enormous demand for lining concrete — Structuro 343T is a specialist admixture for ready-mix and site-batched concrete that has to flow far, set up homogeneously and reach early strengths quickly so that formwork and segment moulds can be cycled fast. Space Arc Engineering supplies it as an authorised Fosroc distributor across Delhi NCR and Pan-India, with the technical back-up to design trial mixes and dosages for a given project’s cement, supplementary cementitious materials and aggregates.
The technical insight
Structuro 343T behaves as a high-activity water reducer/superplasticiser and complies with EN 934-2 (the harmonised European standard for concrete admixtures, referenced as UNE-EN 934-2:2010 Tables 3.1 and 3.2 — the superplasticiser/high-range water-reducer classifications). Functionally it works by steric and electrostatic dispersion of cement particles: the polymer adsorbs onto cement grains and pushes them apart, releasing trapped water and unlocking flow at a much lower water demand. That is what produces the characteristic combination of very high fluidity AND improved early and ultimate mechanical strengths — the strength gain comes from the lowered w/c ratio that the released water permits. The admixture is water-based and non-flammable, and the dispersion mechanism is what keeps the resulting concrete stable and very homogeneous, resisting bleed and segregation even at high slump-flow. Because performance is sensitive to the specific cement chemistry, SCM content (fly ash/GGBS), aggregate grading and ambient temperature, the dosage must be optimised by trial — the published 0.6-1.5% by weight of cement is a working envelope, with around 1% being typical for self-compacting concrete. For the lowest possible w/c ratio it is intended to be used within the Fosroc Structuro/Euco superplasticiser system rather than blindly cross-mixed with admixtures from other suppliers.
Where it is used
- Cast-in-situ and segmental tunnel-lining concrete (arch, invert, sidewall pours)
- Metro, rail and road tunnel concrete requiring long-distance pumping without segregation
- Self-compacting concrete (SCC) for congested or inaccessible sections
- Self-levelling concrete for slabs and infill
- Precast concrete elements needing fast mould turnaround and high early strength
- High-performance structural concrete where low w/c ratio and high durability are specified
- Ready-mix concrete plants serving infrastructure and underground works
Key advantages
- High water-reduction at constant workability, lowering w/c ratio for greater strength and durability
- Significant improvement in both early-age and ultimate compressive strength
- Produces extremely fluid, flowable concrete that places without vibration
- Yields stable, homogeneous concrete with strong resistance to segregation and bleed
- Purpose-engineered for tunnel-lining and self-compacting concrete applications
- Water-based and non-flammable, simplifying site storage and handling
- Compatible within the Fosroc Structuro/Euco superplasticiser system for optimised low w/c mixes
- Complies with EN 934-2 (Tables 3.1 and 3.2) as a high-range water reducer / superplasticiser
Limitations & considerations
- Optimum dosage must be established by site trials with the actual cement, SCMs and aggregates — it cannot simply be copied between mixes
- Designed for compatibility within the Fosroc Structuro/Euco range; arbitrary mixing with admixtures from other manufacturers can compromise the lowest achievable w/c ratio and is not advised without trials
- Over-dosing a high-range superplasticiser can cause excessive retardation, bleeding or segregation, so batching tolerance must be controlled
- As a water-based product it should be protected from freezing and stored within the recommended temperature range
- It is a workability/strength admixture only — it does not air-entrain, waterproof or inhibit corrosion; those functions require separate Fosroc products
- Performance and slump retention are temperature-sensitive, so hot-weather concreting in Indian summers needs mix-design adjustment
Selection & best practice
Always begin with laboratory and field trial mixes using the project’s own cement, fly ash or GGBS, aggregates and water, dosing within the 0.6-1.5% by weight of cement range (about 1% as a starting point for SCC) and adjusting to hit the target slump-flow and early strength. Add Structuro 343T to the wet mix or disperse it in part of the mixing water rather than onto dry cement, and never simply add it to compensate for water already lost. Keep the admixture in its original sealed containers, protected from frost and direct heat, and use within its stated shelf life of 12 months when stored between 2°C and 40°C. For the lowest w/c ratio, keep the admixture system within the Fosroc Structuro/Euco range. In hot Indian site conditions, control concrete temperature and re-validate slump-retention. Engage Space Arc Engineering’s technical team early so dosage, slump-flow targets and any combination with retarders or other Fosroc admixtures are designed for the specific tunnel or SCC application.

How we position Fosroc Structuro 343T
Within the Fosroc range, Structuro 343T is the tunnel-lining/SCC specialist in the Structuro high-range superplasticiser family — sitting alongside general-purpose Structuro grades such as Structuro 351 and self-compacting variants like Structuro 311, and complemented by Fosroc’s Auramix/Conplast superplasticisers and Renderoc repair mortars on larger infrastructure jobs. Against competitors, it competes directly with polycarboxylate-based high-range water reducers such as Sika ViscoCrete (Sika), MasterGlenium / MBS (Master Builders Solutions), and the admixture lines from STP and Dr. Fixit (Pidilite); each offers tunnel-lining and SCC superplasticisers of broadly comparable class. The honest positioning is that Structuro 343T is chosen where a project already specifies the Fosroc system or values Fosroc’s tunnelling and underground-works track record and technical service — for lowest w/c performance it is intended to be used within the Fosroc Structuro/Euco range rather than cross-blended with rival admixtures. Buyers should select on documented trial-mix performance with their actual materials, EN 934-2 compliance, slump-retention in local temperatures, and the supplier’s site support, all of which Space Arc Engineering provides as an authorised Fosroc distributor.
