MC-Bauchemie Muraplast F BV
The SNF superplasticizer Delhi NCR precast yards trust for next-day demoulding strength.
What is it?
A liquid, chloride-free SNF (sulphonated naphthalene formaldehyde) superplasticizer from MC-Bauchemie that pushes one-day concrete strength to roughly 1.5x normal while keeping the mix pumpable.
Where is it used?
Ready-mix batching plants, precast and prestressed yards casting beams, columns, slabs, railway sleepers, piles, poles and pipes, and any site running an accelerated formwork-stripping schedule.
Why use it?
Faster de-moulding cycles, homogenous bleed-free concrete, and the option to trim cement content by roughly 20% at equal slump and strength — a genuine cost lever on high-volume precast and RMC work.
How is it applied?
Dosed at 0.8-3.0% by weight of cement into the mixing water (after about 70% of the gauging water is added), never onto dry aggregate or cement, and mixed long enough for the admixture to unfold fully.
About MC-Bauchemie Muraplast F BV
Muraplast F BV is MC-Bauchemie’s sulphonated naphthalene formaldehyde (SNF) based superplasticizer, sold in India for well over a decade under this name after starting life as Zentrament F BV — the current data sheet still carries that legacy line, so don’t be thrown if an older invoice or drum label says Zentrament. It is a chloride-free, brown liquid admixture built specifically to push early-age strength: MC-Bauchemie’s own figures show roughly 1.5 times the one-day strength of a plain reference mix at the same slump, which is the whole reason precast and prestressed producers reach for it. The product is formulated to IS 9103.
In practice, that early-strength push is what earns Muraplast F BV its place on Delhi NCR job sites and precast yards — it’s the difference between stripping formwork the next morning versus waiting two days, which compounds fast across a casting yard running several pours a week. It isn’t the newest chemistry on the market; polycarboxylate-ether (PCE) superplasticizers now dominate high-range, long-slump-retention work, and MC-Bauchemie itself sells a PCE line alongside this one. But for high-early-strength, fast-turnaround concrete — ready-mix pours, sleepers, poles, pipes, precast panels — SNF chemistry remains a proven, cost-effective, well-understood workhorse, and Muraplast F BV is a credible, IS-compliant version of it.
The technical insight
SNF superplasticizers work by anionic electrostatic dispersion: sulphonate groups adsorb onto cement particles and give them a negative surface charge, so particles repel each other instead of flocculating, freeing trapped water and improving flow without adding more water to the mix. That’s mechanically different from PCE admixtures, which rely on steric hindrance from comb-shaped polymer side chains for higher water reduction and longer slump retention, but can be more sensitive to cement alkali content. SNF chemistry is comparatively robust across the variable OPC/PPC blends common on Indian sites — part of why it has stayed relevant for precast. The data sheet’s two dosage bands, 0.8-1.6% for flow concrete and 1.5-3.0% for high early strength, are worth setting by objective, not habit.
Where it is used
- Ready-mix concrete for structural pours needing higher one-day strength
- Precast elements — beams, columns, slabs, boundary panels
- Prestressed concrete: railway sleepers, poles, piles, rails
- Precast concrete pipes and posts
- Work programmes needing early formwork stripping and fast mould turnaround
- Concrete designed up to 40 MPa
- Combined dosing with other MC admixtures (retarders, air-entrainers) for tailored performance
Key advantages
- Roughly 1.5x the one-day strength of an unadmixed reference mix at equal slump
- Chloride-free — suitable for use near reinforcement and prestressing strand
- Reduces bleeding and segregation for more homogenous concrete
- Improves pumpability while cutting the compaction effort required
- Can support ~20% cement reduction at matched slump and strength — a real cost lever on high-volume work
- Works with all standard cements and can be combined with other MC-Bauchemie admixtures
- IS 9103 compliant, with a long-established, predictable SNF chemistry
Limitations & considerations
- SNF chemistry retains workability for a shorter window than PCE superplasticizers, so it suits close-to-plant dosing better than long-haul RMC deliveries
- Reaching the high-early-strength end of the dosage band (up to 3.0%) costs more per cubic metre than a standard water-reducer dose
- Not an air-entraining or corrosion-inhibiting admixture on its own — those need a separate MC product
- Overdosing can cause bleeding, segregation and delayed setting, so a site trial ahead of a large pour is non-negotiable
- Bulk pack sizes (250 kg drums, 30 kg cans) suit RMC and precast volumes, not small retail or repair jobs
Selection & best practice
Dose Muraplast F BV into the mixing water, ideally after about 70% of the gauging water is already in the drum — never onto dry cement or aggregate — and mix long enough for the admixture to fully unfold its plasticizing effect. Run a site trial batch first: cement source, sand grading, ambient temperature and site water can all shift the optimum dosage away from the data-sheet midpoint. Store drums unopened, away from rain, direct sun, heat and frost, and use within the 12-month shelf life. Pair with an Emcoril curing compound to protect the early strength gain from rapid moisture loss.

How we position MC-Bauchemie Muraplast F BV
Within the MC-Bauchemie range, Muraplast F BV is the SNF early-strength specialist, alongside Centrament Eco 400 (PCE-based, better suited to longer workability retention and higher-range water reduction) and MC-Crete 200 (a simpler IS 9103 water reducer for general C20-C35 site-mixed work) — Space Arc can help match the mix design to the right one rather than defaulting to whatever’s on the shelf. Outside the MC range, Fosroc’s Conplast SP430 is a genuine like-for-like SNF, chloride-free alternative; specifiers already standardised on Fosroc documentation, or needing BS 5075/ASTM C494 references for an export-spec project, often choose it instead.
Fosroc Conplast SP430 — Specifiers already standardised on Fosroc’s admixture range, or needing BS 5075 Part 3 / ASTM C494 documentation for an export-spec project, often choose Conplast SP430 as a like-for-like SNF, chloride-free alternative.
