STP ShaliCure Acrylate
A high-solids acrylic copolymer that cures fresh concrete and seals it against dust, stains and weathering in a single spray-applied coat.
What is it?
A solvent-based, high-solids acrylic copolymer from STP that works as both a concrete curing compound and a clear protective sealer, complying with ASTM C 309 Types 1 & 1D, Class B.
Where is it used?
Industrial floor slabs, parking garages, warehouses, exterior pavements and roads, terrazzo floors, dry-shake hardened floors, walls and columns, and passenger or freight terminals.
Why use it?
It replaces a separate curing compound and floor sealer, locking in mix water for a proper cure while impregnating the surface pores to leave a hard, dust-proof, stain-resistant film.
How is it applied?
Spray, lamb’s-wool applicator, short-nap roller or brush in two coats onto clean, dry concrete above 10 C; on fresh slabs apply as soon as the surface sheen disappears.
About STP ShaliCure Acrylate
STP ShaliCure Acrylate (formerly marketed as ShaliSuper Rez-Seal) is a high-solids acrylic copolymer that solves two problems on a concrete floor with one product. On freshly placed slabs it forms a continuous film that holds mix water in the concrete, allowing cement to hydrate fully and develop its designed strength and abrasion resistance. On the same pass, and on older concrete, that film becomes a permanent clear seal: it bonds tenaciously to the surface, impregnates the top layer of pores, and leaves an inert, impervious skin that shrugs off construction dust, dirt and staining. The result is a slab that cures correctly and stays easy to clean for years, without the labour of ponding, wet hessian or a second sealing operation later.
For engineers and contractors in Delhi NCR and across India, the appeal is a genuinely dual-purpose material carried by a single line item. Because it is resin-based rather than a wax emulsion, the film does not simply dissipate; it stays put as a working seal that resists the alkali of fresh cement, salts and many site chemicals, and it remains compatible with paints, adhesives and resilient floor coverings applied over it. Space Arc Engineering supplies ShaliCure Acrylate as an authorised STP distributor and applicator, so specification support, batch consistency and site guidance come from the same source as the material.
The technical insight
The performance rests on the difference between retaining moisture and building a film. At roughly 30% total solids, ShaliCure Acrylate lays down far more resin per litre than a thin dissipating membrane, so the dried coat is thick enough to both seal in curing water and act as a durable wearing skin. As the solvent (xylene carrier) flashes off, the acrylic and polystyrene copolymer coalesces into a continuous, low-permeability film that slows evaporation from the slab during the critical first days, giving cement the water it needs to hydrate and gain strength instead of drying out and dusting. That same film keeps working after the cure: it penetrates surface porosity to lock loose fines in place, which is why the treated concrete stops generating dust and resists the ingress of dirt, grease and stains. The cured coat passes 500-hour salt-spray and 48-hour alkali-exposure testing and adheres to both concrete and asphalt tile, which is what lets one product serve as curing membrane, dust-proofer and long-term seal.
Where it is used
- Curing and sealing freshly placed industrial floor slabs in a single spray operation
- Dust-proofing and sealing existing warehouse and factory floors that are shedding fines
- Curing and protecting terrazzo floors while enhancing surface sheen
- Sealing dry-shake metallic and non-metallic hardened floor toppings
- Protecting exterior pavements, roads and parking-garage decks from weathering
- Curing walls and columns immediately after formwork stripping
- Sealing floors in passenger and freight terminals for easy maintenance
- Preparing cured slabs to receive compatible paints, adhesives or resilient floor coverings
Key advantages
- Combines a curing compound and a floor sealer in one product, cutting a step and a line item
- High 30% solids content delivers efficient curing and a durable, dust-proofing film
- Dries to a clear finish that does not mask the concrete or terrazzo underneath
- Bonds tenaciously and impregnates surface pores, hardening the slab and improving abrasion resistance
- Resists alkali from fresh cement, salts and many construction stains
- Passes 500-hour salt-spray and alkali-exposure testing for lasting protection
- Fast drying (under one hour) so floors return to service quickly
- Compatible with many subsequent paints, adhesives and resilient floor coverings
Limitations & considerations
- Solvent-based (xylene carrier) with a 43 C flash point, so it needs good ventilation and ignition control during application
- Must not be applied below 10 C ambient or substrate temperature, or over bleed water or standing water
- Two coats are required for a uniform seal and gloss; worn or porous areas may need more
- Not a bond-breaker or dissipating membrane, so where a temporary curing film must fully break down before an overlay, a wax-emulsion curing compound is the correct choice
- Only minimal resistance to solvents, so it is not a chemical-duty coating for aggressive spillage areas
- Shorter 9-month shelf life than many aqueous curing compounds, so stock should be rotated
Selection & best practice
On fresh concrete, apply as soon as finishing is complete and the surface sheen of moisture has just disappeared; delaying past this window lets curing water escape. Work in small areas, never covering more than can be finished in about ten minutes, because the membrane starts to skin over quickly. Use a high-pressure industrial sprayer, lamb’s-wool applicator, short-nap roller or brush, laying a thin, even film with no dry spots and touching up as needed for homogeneous performance. On old concrete, first make the surface clean and dry, removing wax, grease and oil with strong soaps or caustics rather than acids, then apply two coats. Do not apply below 10 C or over bleed or free-standing water, keep the product away from heat and ignition sources, and clean tools with solvent immediately after use before the film hardens.

Industry use cases
Industrial & Warehousing
Cures and seals large factory and warehouse floor slabs in one pass, then stops the surface from dusting under forklift and foot traffic.
Infrastructure & Transport
Protects exterior pavements, roads, parking-garage decks and passenger or freight terminal floors against weathering and heavy use.
Terrazzo & Decorative Floors
Cures and clear-seals terrazzo and decorative concrete, enhancing sheen while keeping the finish easy to clean.
Precast & Formed Concrete
Applied to walls and columns immediately after formwork stripping to cure and seal vertical surfaces without wet curing.
Hardened Floor Toppings
Seals dry-shake metallic and non-metallic floor hardeners so the toppened surface cures properly and resists abrasion.

How we position STP ShaliCure Acrylate
ShaliCure Acrylate is the pick when you want curing and permanent sealing in one resin-based product, especially on floors that will stay exposed and need to be dust-proof and easy to clean. Within STP’s own range, choose ShaliCure Acrylate WB 10 instead when a water-based, white-pigmented curing membrane is preferred over a solvent-based clear coat, or the paraffin-based ShaliCure PA M series and aluminised ShaliCure AL grades for pure curing duty where a permanent seal is not needed. Where the surface will later receive a bonded topping, screed or heavy-duty resin floor, a dissipating curing compound is the better upstream choice so nothing has to be ground off first. For that scenario we also stock Fosroc’s curing membranes, and for the finished floor protection itself our Fosroc Nitocote and epoxy floor-coating lines cover chemical-duty and decorative requirements that a cure-and-seal is not designed for.
Fosroc Concure WB — Specify Concure WB when the job needs a purely temporary, dissipating wax-emulsion curing membrane that breaks down before a bonded overlay, rather than the permanent acrylic seal ShaliCure Acrylate leaves behind.
