BrandUltraTechCategoryGrouts & AnchorsFormA single-component, cement-based precision grout — add water, pour, and it self-levels into a dense, non-shrink layer…

What is it?

A single-component, cement-based precision grout — add water, pour, and it self-levels into a dense, non-shrink layer rated up to 80 MPa.

Where is it used?

Under machine base plates, turbine and compressor beds, precast anchors, holding-down bolts, micropiles and pile caps.

Why use it?

A shrinking or voided grout under a base plate means misalignment and vibration later; Powergrout NS2 is formulated to show nil shrinkage and nil bleeding, so plate-to-foundation contact stays intact.

How is it applied?

Mix with 14-15% water by weight to a flowable, lump-free consistency, let it stand two minutes, remix, then pour continuously from one side — never vibrate it.

About UltraTech Powergrout NS2

The gap between a machine base plate and its foundation is small — often just 20-40 mm — but it carries the full static and dynamic load of the equipment above. Fill it with ordinary sand-cement mortar and you inherit shrinkage cracks and bleed-water voids that let the machine work loose over time. UltraTech Powergrout NS2 exists to remove that risk. It’s a ready-mixed, polymer-enriched cementitious grout that needs nothing on site beyond clean water and a mechanical mixer. Once mixed, it’s poured rather than packed or vibrated, and it flows into every corner of a congested cavity, wrapping fully around anchor bolts and embedded steel without leaving voids.

Powergrout NS2 sits at the high-strength end of UltraTech’s cementitious grout range, rated up to 80 MPa at 28 days with a 60-minute pot life — enough working time for a properly planned pour. It’s available in a Normal grade for standard pours and a Flowable grade for longer travel or narrower gaps, and it can be extended with 12-20 mm graded aggregate at 1:0.5 to control cost on large-volume machine beds. As an authorised UltraTech distributor and applicator across Delhi NCR, Space Arc supplies and, where needed, places Powergrout NS2 on site, working to the same mixing and QA discipline the manufacturer’s data sheet specifies.

The technical insight

Cement paste shrinks slightly as it hydrates and dries; under a rigid steel base plate, that shrinkage becomes a gap. Non-shrink grouts counter it by combining a controlled expansion component, active while the grout is still plastic, with polymers and plasticisers that let the mix flow at a water-to-powder ratio of just 14-15% — far below the 20%+ a normal mortar would need for similar fluidity. Less mixing water means less water left behind as porosity, which is why Powergrout NS2 reaches 30-35 MPa within a day yet still tests nil for expansion and bleeding under ASTM C940.

Where it is used

  • Base plates for turbines, compressors, boilers and feed pumps
  • Machine foundations and beds under static and vibratory load
  • Anchoring and holding-down bolts for structural and mechanical fixings
  • Precast element bedding and fixing
  • Micropile and pile-cap grouting
  • Shear-wall bond beams and structural column bedding
  • Manufacture of high-strength precast pavers and blocks

Key advantages

  • Single-component and ready-to-mix — only clean water needed on site
  • Nil measured expansion and nil bleeding (ASTM C940) for full, lasting plate contact
  • Self-compacting flow — no mechanical vibration, so anchors and rebar stay undisturbed
  • High early strength: 30-35 MPa within 24 hours
  • Chloride-free formulation, safe around embedded steel
  • Extendable with 12-20 mm graded aggregate (1:0.5) to cut cost on large pours
  • Normal and Flowable grades to match gap size and pour distance
  • Documented IS/ASTM technical data and a 6-month shelf life for straightforward QA sign-off

Limitations & considerations

  • 60-minute pot life — plan batch size and pour sequence before mixing
  • Fixed 14-15% water ratio; extra water added for workability cuts strength and defeats the non-shrink chemistry
  • Must never be mechanically vibrated — it’s designed to self-compact
  • Application limited to 5-50°C; below 20°C, allow extended cure time before loading
  • Moderate, not high, chloride-penetration resistance — not the first choice for permanently wet or marine exposure
  • Not intended for heavy dynamic or fatigue-duty machinery, where an epoxy grout performs better

Selection & best practice

Prepare the substrate as carefully as you mix the grout: clean back to sound, laitance-free concrete, saturate it so it doesn’t draw water from the fresh mix, and keep shuttering tight — Powergrout NS2 is fluid enough to find any gap. Mix only what you can place inside the 60-minute pot life, to a lump-free flowable consistency, and pour continuously from one side so air is pushed ahead of the grout rather than trapped under the plate. Never vibrate the mix or add water to extend working time. In peak summer, work early or late and keep materials shaded; below 20°C, allow extra time before loading the foundation.

Frequently asked questions

What’s the difference between Powergrout NS2 Normal and Flowable?
Same strength and chemistry; Flowable is formulated to self-level further, for narrower gaps or longer pour distances, while Normal suits shorter, thicker pours.
Can I add aggregate to reduce material cost?
Yes — extend it with 12-20 mm well-graded aggregate at a 1:0.5 ratio by weight for large-volume pours, without losing the non-shrink performance, as long as you don’t exceed that blend.
How soon can the equipment be loaded after grouting?
It reaches 30-35 MPa within 24 hours under normal conditions, and UltraTech specifies a minimum 24-hour wait before subsequent use; below 20°C, allow extra time.
Does it need wet curing like regular concrete?
Only in extreme heat or cold. Its low water-to-powder ratio means normal site conditions don’t require the wet curing a standard concrete pour would.
Is it suitable for marine or chemically aggressive foundations?
Not as a first choice — its chloride-penetration resistance is rated moderate. For permanently wet, marine or chemical-process exposure, an epoxy grout such as Fosroc’s Conbextra EP range holds up better.

How we position UltraTech Powergrout NS2

Within UltraTech’s own range, Powergrout NS2 is the high-early-strength choice; for lighter, non-machine-critical bedding, UltraTech’s standard cementitious grouts are a more economical fit, and Space Arc can advise at BOQ stage. Where conditions call for something beyond cementitious chemistry — permanently wet foundations, process-chemical areas, or heavy dynamic/fatigue loads like reciprocating compressors — we also supply and apply Fosroc’s Conbextra epoxy grout range. For a direct cementitious equivalent from Fosroc, Conbextra GP2 is comparable. We size the recommendation to load, exposure and budget rather than one brand by default.

Preferred brand · Fosroc equivalent

Fosroc Fosroc Conbextra GP2 — Conbextra GP2 is Fosroc’s free-flow, non-shrink cementitious precision grout for machine bases and anchor bolts — the same category as Powergrout NS2. Its typical 28-day strength (around 65 MPa) runs lower than NS2’s 80 MPa rating, so GP2 suits standard-duty base plate and anchoring work rather than the highest-load applications.
