MC-Bauchemie Emcekrete 90DS
A dual-shrinkage-compensated cementitious grout built for machine foundations, precast joints and anchor fixings that cannot afford to move once set.
What is it?
A ready-to-use, single-component cementitious powder grout that needs only clean site water. It’s built on MC-Bauchemie’s dual-shrinkage-compensation chemistry, tested to ASTM C1107 Grade C, so it resists shrinking away from the substrate both while fresh and after it hardens.
Where is it used?
Under turbine, compressor, generator, gearbox and pump base plates in power and process plants; beneath crane rails and bridge bearings; in precast joint grouting; and for anchor-bolt and column base-plate fixing — up to 150 mm pour depth in a single lift.
Why use it?
It’s chloride-free, so it won’t corrode the steel and anchor bolts it’s protecting; it carries EN 1504-6 certification as an anchoring product; and its dual-phase shrinkage compensation holds dimensional contact under sustained dynamic and vibratory load, not just at initial cure.
How is it applied?
Gauged with a measured quantity of clean water to a free-flowing consistency, then poured or pumped through a head box into fully shuttered formwork under the base plate. Its low water-to-powder ratio lets it self-compact without vibration, provided the shuttering is sealed tight.
About MC-Bauchemie Emcekrete 90DS
MC-Bauchemie is a German construction-chemicals major with a long-standing grouting range under the Emcekrete name, and Emcekrete 90DS sits in its high-performance grouts family alongside products such as Emcekrete 100F. Its India datasheet leads with “dual-shrinkage compensation” — control of volume change in both the fresh, plastic state and the hardened state, tested against ASTM C1107 Grade C. In practice that’s a grey portland-cement-based powder gauged with water on site, with no resin component to meter. It’s formulated chloride-free so it can sit permanently against reinforcement and anchor bolts without setting up a corrosion cell.
For Indian buyers, its natural home is where the India datasheet points: machine and equipment foundations in power and process plants, crane rail beds in steel and cement plants, bridge bearing plinths, and precast joint grouting. It’s an EN 1504-6 certified anchoring product, rated across a wide spread of exposure classes (XC, XD, XS, XF, XA) — a reasonable proxy for humid, coastal and industrially aggressive Indian conditions. Space Arc Engineering supplies and applies it pan-India as an authorised MC-Bauchemie distributor and applicator, pairing it with the wider Emcekrete/Emcofix anchoring and repair range for single-vendor accountability on a foundation package.
The technical insight
A conventional non-shrink grout usually compensates only for plastic-state shrinkage — staying put while fresh, before it sets. But cementitious materials keep losing a little volume as they hydrate and dry over the following weeks, and under static load that rarely matters. Under dynamic load — a running turbine, a crane rail taking repeated impact — even a sub-millimetre hardened-state gap becomes a place for load to concentrate and vibration to amplify. ASTM C1107 Grade C requires controlled plastic-state expansion and near-zero shrinkage after hardening, addressing both phases separately. That’s why 90DS gets specified under rotating and impact-loaded equipment: less about peak strength, more about staying in full, gap-free contact with the plate for the machine’s life.
Where it is used
- Machine and equipment base-plate grouting: turbines, compressors, generators, gearboxes, pumps
- Precast concrete element joint grouting on infrastructure and building projects
- Anchor bolt and bolt-pocket grouting
- Steel column and stanchion base-plate grouting for structural steel and PEB structures
- Bridge bearing plinth and pedestal grouting
- Crane rail bedding in steel plants, cement plants and ports
- Void filling under load-bearing plates during plant retrofits and re-commissioning
- Rigid-joint grouting wherever a chloride-free, dimensionally stable cementitious grout is needed
Key advantages
- Dual-shrinkage compensation to ASTM C1107 Grade C covers both plastic and hardened-state shrinkage
- Chloride-free formulation protects embedded reinforcement and anchor steel from corrosion
- High early and final strength supports faster equipment commissioning timelines
- Certified anchoring product to EN 1504-6
- Excellent pourability at a low water-to-powder ratio, giving good self-compaction without vibration
- Ready-to-use single-component powder — only site water is added, cutting batching error
- Rated across a wide span of exposure classes (XC, XD, XS, XF, XA), suited to humid and industrial Indian sites
- Backed by Space Arc’s local application crews and MC-Bauchemie’s applicator network pan-India
Limitations & considerations
- Capped at 150 mm grouting height per pour; deeper voids need staged pours or a different product
- Cementitious, not epoxy — very high point-load mounts in aggressive settings still favour an epoxy grout
- Portland-cement based, so wet mix and dry powder are skin/eye irritants per the SDS; PPE is mandatory
- Needs accurate water dosing — over-watering reduces strength and undermines the shrinkage chemistry
- Needs sealed shuttering and a continuous head-box pour; poor formwork defeats its flow advantage
- Public India page doesn’t publish strength, coverage or pack-size figures — confirm via TDS or a Space Arc quote
Selection & best practice
Saturate the substrate to surface-dry and roughen it to expose aggregate — a smooth, laitance-covered base is the commonest cause of bond failure under machine grouts. Seal formwork on three sides with a head box on the fourth for constant pour pressure, pouring continuously from one direction so air is pushed ahead rather than trapped under the plate. Mix only what you can place within the working time, using a calibrated water quantity — never adjust flow with extra water. Damp-cure the exposed edge for at least three days before commissioning the machine.

How we position MC-Bauchemie Emcekrete 90DS
Emcekrete 90DS sits inside MC-Bauchemie’s Emcekrete high-performance grouting family, sharing its dual-shrinkage logic with siblings like Emcekrete 100F; Space Arc can pair it with Emcofix anchoring mortars or Emcekrete repair mortars where the same foundation needs structural patching too. For a second credible brand to benchmark against, Fosroc’s Conbextra GP2 is the closest genuine equivalent — a free-flow, high-early-strength precision grout for machine bases, and among India’s most widely specified grouting names. For lower-load, non-dynamic work on a tighter budget, Fosroc’s standard Conbextra GP is a reasonable step-down; Space Arc can quote either line.
Fosroc Conbextra GP2 — A free-flow, high-early-strength cementitious precision grout for machine bases and dynamic loads — a genuine equivalent worth quoting alongside Emcekrete 90DS when a project’s vendor list already favours Fosroc.
