MC-Bauchemie Dreitop FH Std
A non-metallic dry-shake hardener that turns fresh concrete into a dense, oil- and abrasion-resistant industrial floor, indoors or out.
What is it?
A powder-form, non-metallic dry-shake surface hardener — a polymer-modified cementitious binder bound with graded natural hard aggregate — broadcast onto fresh concrete to densify and toughen the wearing surface.
Where is it used?
Industrial plants, warehouses, workshops, loading bays, parking ramps and any heavy-traffic floor, indoors or out, including wet areas, wherever MC-Bauchemie’s Dreitop FH Std is dry-shake broadcast onto green concrete or a bonded screed.
Why use it?
Non-rusting unlike metallic hardeners, it can go into wet rooms and outdoor floors without staining, while still roughly doubling the abrasion resistance of plain concrete and shrugging off rolling, sliding, impact and oil spills.
How is it applied?
Broadcast by hand in two passes at right angles onto stiffened but still-green concrete or a fresh screed, floated in, then power-floated and cured — typically 2.5 to 9 kg/m² depending on traffic class.
About MC-Bauchemie Dreitop FH Std
Plain trowelled concrete is not built for a factory floor. Under forklift wheels, dragged pallets, dropped tools and constant foot traffic, the top few millimetres of a standard slab dusts, pits and wears through within a couple of monsoons. Dreitop FH Std is MC-Bauchemie’s answer at the construction stage itself: a factory-blended, grey cementitious powder — a polymer-modified binder tightly bound with well-graded, cubical natural hard aggregate — that is dry-shake broadcast into the still-green concrete rather than applied as a separate coating later. Worked in with float and trowel, it fuses monolithically with the base slab, leaving one denser, tougher wearing course with no bond line to fail.
What sets it apart from the classic iron-filings floor hardener is simple: it doesn’t rust. That single property opens up wet rooms, washdown bays, dairies, breweries and open-to-sky loading yards that a metallic hardener would eventually stain or streak. Space Arc supplies and applies Dreitop FH Std across Delhi NCR and pan-India as an authorised MC-Bauchemie distributor-applicator, typically specified wherever a project needs a hard-wearing, non-dusting floor at a materially lower cost than an epoxy or PU topping system — new industrial sheds, warehouse extensions, and re-topped older floors bonded over a fresh screed alike.
The technical insight
The performance of a dry-shake hardener is decided in a narrow window during the pour, and Dreitop FH Std’s data sheet is explicit about it. Broadcasting must begin only once the base concrete has taken its initial set — stiff enough for light foot traffic to leave a 2-3 mm footprint — and after all bleed water has evaporated. Go early and the aggregate sinks, leaving a dusting surface; go late and the powder never properly hydrates, and strength is lost. Applied correctly, in two passes at right angles to each other, the fine cementitious fraction draws up the concrete’s own surface moisture while the cubical, well-graded natural aggregate packs the top layer to near-maximum density — the real source of the roughly 2x abrasion resistance the data sheet claims over plain concrete. The base slab still has to earn its keep: a minimum 300 kg/m³ cement content and a 28-day strength of at least M30, or a bonded 25-30 mm compensating screed is mandatory first.
Where it is used
- Automobile and auto-ancillary assembly floors under continuous trolley and forklift traffic
- Warehouses, distribution centres and loading/unloading bays
- Foundries, steel mills and metallurgical plants with heavy impact loads
- Dairies, breweries, food processing and pharmaceutical plants needing a non-rusting, washable floor
- Workshops, service bays, car ramps and shipyards
- Power plants, chemical plants and electrical substations
- Railway platforms, bus depots and public utility buildings
- Multi-level parking, exhibition halls and stadium concourses
Key advantages
- Non-rusting and waterproof — safe for wet rooms, washdown areas and open exteriors that would stain a metallic hardener
- Roughly doubles the abrasion resistance of plain trowelled concrete, per the manufacturer’s data sheet
- Withstands rolling, sliding, percussion and impact loads from hard-wheeled traffic
- Resistant to deicing salts, petrol and mineral oil spillage
- Naturally non-skid, even where oil has spilled on the surface
- Bonds monolithically with the base slab — no separate topping layer to delaminate or peel
- More economical than epoxy, PU or metallic hardener systems for an equivalent duty floor
- Works on new pours directly, and on old floors via a bonded compensating screed
Limitations & considerations
- Narrow application window — broadcast too early and the aggregate sinks and dusts, too late and the binder never hydrates properly; this needs an experienced crew, not a DIY finish
- Supplied only in grey, with no integral colour range the way pigmented metallic hardeners or epoxy toppings offer
- Base concrete must meet a minimum spec (≥300 kg/m³ cement, M30 strength) or a bonded compensating screed becomes mandatory first
- Curing is non-negotiable — skipping it undermines the very surface hardness the product is specified for
- As a non-metallic system it won’t match a true metallic (iron/emery) hardener’s ultimate wear life under continuous steel-wheel or tracked-vehicle traffic
- Shelf life is a modest 6 months from date of manufacture, so it shouldn’t be bought far ahead of the scheduled pour
Selection & best practice
Treat the timing instructions on the data sheet as the whole job, not a footnote. Mark out the floor area first and weigh out the correct quantity for the traffic class you’re building for — heavy (6-9 kg/m²), medium (4-6 kg/m²) or light (2.5-3.5 kg/m²) — so the crew isn’t guessing mid-pour. Broadcast half to one-third of the material by hand or scoop, wait until it darkens evenly from absorbed bleed water, then float; repeat the balance at right angles to the first pass and float again, finishing with a power float where possible for maximum density. Always use full 30 kg bags — the aggregate grading is engineered per bag, and part-bags disturb the mix, so if a partial quantity is genuinely needed, empty and remix a whole bag rather than eyeballing a scoop. Cure immediately with a proper membrane-forming compound, keep heavy stress off the floor for a full week, and treat edges near walls and columns first since they’re hardest to broadcast evenly.

Industry use cases
Automotive & Auto-Ancillary Plants
Assembly-line and material-handling floors under continuous trolley, forklift and hand-truck traffic specify Dreitop FH Std at the heavy-traffic dosage (6-9 kg/m²) to resist rutting and dusting.
Warehousing & Logistics Parks
Loading bays and racking aisles use the medium-traffic dosage to hold up against pallet trucks and rolling stock without the cost of a full epoxy system.
Food, Dairy & Pharma Facilities
Its non-rusting, waterproof nature suits washdown floors and processing areas where a metallic hardener would eventually stain or contaminate product.
Workshops, Service Bays & Car Ramps
Oil and petrol resistance plus a naturally non-skid finish make it a practical fit for vehicle service floors and ramps.
Public Infrastructure
Railway platforms, bus depots and utility buildings use it where a durable, low-maintenance, dust-free surface has to survive years of foot and light vehicle traffic.

How we position MC-Bauchemie Dreitop FH Std
Within the MC-Bauchemie system, Dreitop FH Std is rarely specified alone — the same data sheet calls out Nafufill BB2 and Zentrifix AS as the bonding coats for screed-over-old-floor applications, and Emcoril curing compounds to protect the surface right after floating; Space Arc supplies all three as a matched package rather than mixing brands mid-floor. For projects already standardised on Fosroc, or where the specifier wants a different aggregate hardness grading, Nitoflor Hardtop Standard is a genuine non-metallic dry-shake equivalent worth comparing. And where the duty cycle calls for chemical resistance beyond oil and abrasion — aggressive acids, alkalis, or a seamless hygienic finish — MC-Bauchemie’s epoxy/PU flooring range (the MC-DUR series) is the more appropriate step up rather than a heavier dry-shake dosage.
Fosroc Nitoflor Hardtop Standard — For projects already standardised on Fosroc across the site, or where the specifier wants a different aggregate hardness grading, Nitoflor Hardtop Standard is a genuine non-metallic dry-shake equivalent worth comparing line-by-line against Dreitop FH Std.
