What is it?

A low-viscosity, two-component polyurethane duromer injection resin in ready-metered twin-chamber cartridges. It reacts fast, displaces standing water, and cures hard into a resin that both blocks the leak and re-bonds the surrounding concrete or masonry.

Where is it used?

Cracked, void-filled concrete, masonry and natural stone in buildings, basements, tunnels and hydraulic structures; pipe couplings, manhole ring joints, sheet-pile and diaphragm-wall seams — any rigid joint actively weeping water that needs both a stop and a structural gap-fill.

Why use it?

It does two jobs in one shot — stops the water and restores some load path across the crack — using a cartridge system a two-man crew can run without bulk-mixing drums or batching pumps.

How is it applied?

Set injection packers along the crack or joint, load the twin-chamber 400 ml cartridge into the pneumatic MC-Fastpack Power-Tool, and inject through the built-in MC-Quadro static mixer at a metered 1:1 ratio — components A and B mix only at the point of injection.

About MC-Bauchemie MC-Fastpack 2700

MC-Fastpack 2700 is MC-Bauchemie’s cartridge-based answer to a problem every site engineer in Delhi NCR knows well: a crack or joint that’s actively weeping water and needs fixing now, not after four weeks of drying and epoxy prep. It’s a low-viscosity, two-component polyurethane duromer resin — components A and B sit in a twin-chamber cartridge and meet only inside the static mixer at the point of injection. On contact with water it foams in a controlled way, displaces the flow, and cures hard within minutes into a resin with real compressive and tensile strength, not a soft, springy foam.

That distinction matters for how you specify it. Most PU water-stop resins on Indian sites are chosen to stay flexible, tolerating some ongoing crack movement. MC-Fastpack 2700 sits a notch further into structural territory — built to seal and reinforce, so it suits rigid joints, void-filled masonry, sheet-pile seams and rock-consolidation work where the injected material needs to carry some load again, not just plug a hole. The trade-off: it’s not the right choice for a crack that keeps moving with thermal cycles; that’s still epoxy or flexible-PU territory.

The technical insight

The number worth flagging is working time: roughly 30 seconds (ASTM D7/487) once components A and B combine. That’s deliberately short — it lets the resin start reacting inside a wet, live crack before it washes away, and it’s why the cartridge-and-power-tool delivery exists instead of hand-mixed pots. Mixed resin runs about 1.13 kg/dm³ density and 200±50 mPa·s viscosity (EN ISO 3219), low enough to penetrate fine fissures, then cures to roughly 68 N/mm² compressive and 60 MPa tensile strength (EN ISO 604/527-1) with a glass transition point above 60°C — well clear of anything an Indian substrate sees in service.

Where it is used

  • Injection sealing of actively leaking cracks in basement and retaining walls below the water table
  • Sealing and reinforcing cracked or void-rich concrete, masonry and natural stone in civil and hydraulic works
  • Sheet-pile and diaphragm-wall joint sealing at groundwater level
  • Manhole ring-joint, socket-joint and pipe-coupling waterproofing in sewer and stormwater networks
  • Rigid construction-joint sealing in buildings with minimal expected movement
  • Leak arrest in metro stations, service tunnels and underground utility structures
  • Joint and crack sealing in dam galleries and water-retaining hydraulic structures
  • Void-filling and water-cut-off injection in fissured rock ahead of a waterproofing overlay

Key advantages

  • Dual-purpose — arrests water flow and restores some load-carrying continuity, not just a plug
  • Reacts fast enough to work against live water pressure; no need to dry the substrate first
  • Pre-metered 1:1 cartridge removes batching errors and drum wastage of bulk two-pack resins
  • Cures genuinely hard — approx. 68 N/mm² compressive, approx. 60 MPa tensile — not a soft foam
  • Controlled, limited foaming on contact with water gives a more predictable fill
  • Compact Power-Tool kit works in confined basements, manholes and shafts where a bulk pump won’t fit
  • B2 fire classification (DIN 4102) in the cured medium, useful inside occupied structures
  • REACH exposure assessment and an EPD are available, useful on institutional and green-rated tenders

Limitations & considerations

  • Cures rigid — not for a crack under ongoing thermal or structural movement; use flexible PU or epoxy there
  • Substrate and cartridge must be above 5°C; needs site conditioning on cold North Indian mornings
  • Roughly 30-second working time leaves little room for error — plan packer layout before starting, don’t improvise
  • Cartridge dosing is efficient for spot injection but costlier per litre than bulk-drum systems on huge volumes
  • Cleanup needs MC-Verdünnung PU, not water — plan tool and site housekeeping in advance
  • Cured resin is brown and hard — a structural/waterproofing fix, so exposed surfaces still need a finish coat

Selection & best practice

Treat packer layout as the real engineering step — map the crack, set injection packers (MC-Hammerpacker LP 12 or MC-Surfacepacker LP), and run a trial shot before committing the full cartridge. Keep substrate and element temperature between 5°C and 40°C; cool the cartridge to slow the reaction on a hot site, warm it slightly on a cold one. Wrap the mixer-to-packer joint with PTFE tape if there’s dimensional play, and clean tools with MC-Verdünnung PU within the working time — cured resin only comes out mechanically.

Frequently asked questions

Does the crack need to be dry before injecting MC-Fastpack 2700?
No — it’s built to work against live water; it displaces the flow and reacts fast enough to seal an actively weeping crack, which is why it’s specified over epoxy on wet basement work.
How is this different from a flexible hydrophilic PU foam?
Hydrophilic foams are water-activated and stay soft; MC-Fastpack 2700’s two components react with each other, cure into a harder duromer resin, and add strength back to the crack — but tolerate less ongoing movement.
What equipment do I need on site besides the cartridges?
The MC-Fastpack Power-Tool pneumatic gun, injection packers (Hammerpacker LP 12 or Surfacepacker LP), and MC-Verdünnung PU for cleanup — no bulk drums or batching pumps required.
How soon is the injected joint watertight?
Initial set happens within minutes given the roughly 30-second working time; strength builds through the first 90 minutes with full lab values by 24 hours, so let it cure fully before load-testing.
Will it hold up through a Delhi summer and winter?
Stored correctly (5°C-35°C, sealed, dry) it’s rated an 18-month shelf life, and cured resin’s glass transition is above 60°C — the main seasonal care is keeping cartridges and substrate above 5°C on cold mornings.
Can it replace an epoxy injection for a structural crack?
Not directly — it’s a waterproofing-first resin that adds back some strength; where the crack is dry and needs pure structural re-bonding, a dedicated low-viscosity epoxy is still correct.

How we position MC-Bauchemie MC-Fastpack 2700

Within MC-Bauchemie’s Fastpack range, 2700 is the rigid, structural-leaning option — pair it with the more flexible MC-Fastpack PU solid or MC-Fastpack 1264 compact when a joint needs to keep moving, or step up to MC-Fastpack PR solid for full rock/void consolidation. For bulk-drum jobs where cartridge economics don’t work, MC-Injekt 2700 is the same chemistry sold for pump-fed application. Where a project is standardised on Fosroc, Nitofill PU25 LV is a genuine two-component PU alternative — it cures flexible rather than rigid, so a specifier would pick it when the crack keeps moving and a small strength trade-off is fine.

Preferred brand · Fosroc equivalent

Fosroc Nitofill PU25 LV — Where a project is already standardised on Fosroc, Nitofill PU25 LV is a genuine two-component PU alternative for active-leak crack injection — it cures to a flexible, movement-tolerant solid rather than 2700’s harder duromer set, so a specifier would pick it when the crack is expected to keep moving and a small strength trade-off is acceptable.
