STP ShaliPlast PCE 200 B
Polycarboxylate ether superplasticiser with a built-in retarding action, formulated by STP Limited for building concrete — sharp water reduction, high early strength and a chloride-free formulation conforming to IS 9103 and ASTM C494 Type G.
What is it?
A third-generation PCE-based superplasticiser and retarding admixture from STP Limited, supplied as a light-brownish liquid for concrete, mortar and plaster.
Where is it used?
Building structural concrete — columns, slabs, precast elements, pavement-quality concrete and fast-track pours where formwork must turn around quickly.
Why use it?
Cuts mixing water hard at a 0.5–2.0% dose, accelerates early strength gain for economical stripping, and stays chloride-free for reinforced and pre-stressed steel.
How is it applied?
Dispensed into the final portion of mixing water — never onto dry cement — then mixed for 2–3 minutes until the target slump is reached.
About STP ShaliPlast PCE 200 B
ShaliPlast PCE 200 B belongs to STP Limited’s third-generation admixture line and is the building-segment member of the ShaliPlast PCE 200 series. It combines a polycarboxylate ether superplasticiser with a controlled retarding action, so site teams get two things at once: a dramatic drop in mixing water and a workable placement window for pumping and compaction. The result is concrete with high early strength development, dense microstructure and excellent flowability — the combination that makes stripping times economical on precast beds and in-situ frames alike. The product conforms to IS 9103:1999 and ASTM C494 Type G, and additionally complies with IS 2645:2003 as an integral waterproofing compound, which lets one admixture cover both the structural and the water-tightness clauses in many building specifications.\n\nSTP Limited has manufactured construction chemicals in India for over 85 years, and its admixture range is built around Indian cements, aggregates and site temperatures rather than imported assumptions. Space Arc Engineering supplies ShaliPlast PCE 200 B across Delhi NCR and pan-India as an authorised STP distributor, and our applicator-side experience means we can help batch-plant and site engineers run the dosage trials that this class of product genuinely needs before full-scale pours begin.
The technical insight
Older SNF-based plasticisers disperse cement electrostatically; a PCE like ShaliPlast PCE 200 B works by steric hindrance. Its comb-shaped polymer has a backbone that adsorbs onto cement grains while long polyether side chains physically push neighbouring particles apart, releasing the water trapped inside cement flocs. That freed water either fluidises the mix or is removed from the design altogether — and it is the removal that matters most, because a lower water-cement ratio produces a denser, less permeable matrix. This is precisely why the product also qualifies under IS 2645 as an integral waterproofing compound: the waterproofing is a by-product of pore refinement, not a separate additive. The retarding component moderates early aluminate hydration so slump survives transport and pumping in Indian ambient heat, after which strength development proceeds rapidly. The same chemistry explains the one operational caution: exceed the trial-established dose and the retarder dominates, delaying set noticeably.
Where it is used
- RCC frames of residential towers — columns, shear walls, beams and slabs
- Commercial and institutional buildings placing high-workability pumped concrete
- Precast elements where early demoulding drives yard productivity
- Pavement-quality concrete for internal roads and township infrastructure
- Fast-track in-situ concrete on tight formwork rotation cycles
- Concrete requiring fast stripping times without sacrificing cohesion
- Mortars and plasters where water reduction and flow improve finish
- Building elements specified with an IS 2645 integral waterproofing clause
Key advantages
- Pronounced early strength gain, making stripping times economical for precast and in-situ work
- Extremely high water reduction, giving denser, stronger concrete with reduced water permeability
- Strong plasticising effect that improves flowability, placing and compaction behaviour
- Higher mix cohesion, lowering the risk of segregation and bleeding in pumped concrete
- Improved shrinkage and creep behaviour over the structure’s service life
- Free of chlorides and corrosion-promoting ingredients — safe for reinforced and pre-stressed steel
- Compatible with all Portland cements including SRC, and with PFA, GGBFS and micro silica blends
- Triple conformance: IS 9103:1999, ASTM C494 Type G and IS 2645:2003 as integral waterproofing
Limitations & considerations
- Overdosing beyond the trial-established rate can delay concrete setting time appreciably
- Must never contact dry cement — it demands a disciplined batching sequence at the mixer
- The retarding action means stripping schedules should be re-validated in cooler weather
- Dosage must be fixed by site trials for each cement and SCM combination; the 0.5–2.0% band is wide by design
- Flowing concrete exerts higher form pressure at the base of walls, so formwork must be watertight and well braced
- Supplied only in 250 kg barrels, which suits batch plants better than small standalone pours
Selection & best practice
Fix the dose by trial first: start within the 0.5–2.0% band (by weight of cementitious material) using your actual cement, fly ash or GGBS, and aggregates, because PCE response varies between cement sources. At the mixer, charge all materials with about 85% of the mixing water and mix normally, then blend ShaliPlast PCE 200 B into the remaining water, add it, and mix a further 2–3 minutes until the required slump is achieved — the admixture must reach the mix through water, never over dry cement. Resist topping up dose on site to chase slump; over-dosage extends setting time. For walls and narrow sections, use watertight, strongly braced formwork, since fluid concrete pushes harder at the form base during the flowing period than conventional mixes. Store barrels cool and dry under shed, away from heat, and use within 12 months.

Industry use cases
High-Rise Residential
Keeps pumped concrete flowing to upper floors while early strength gain lets contractors cycle formwork faster on repetitive slab pours.
Commercial Buildings
Delivers cohesive, segregation-resistant mixes for congested reinforcement in transfer beams, cores and column-heavy office structures.
Precast Yards
High early strength shortens demoulding cycles for precast walls, planks and boundary elements, raising daily bed turnover.
Township Infrastructure
Suits pavement-quality concrete for internal roads and hardstands where water reduction directly improves abrasion resistance.
Basements and Water-Retaining Elements
IS 2645 compliance lets designers claim integral waterproofing in rafts and retaining walls alongside a membrane system.

How we position STP ShaliPlast PCE 200 B
Within the STP family, ShaliPlast PCE 200 B is the building-segment sibling of ShaliPlast PCE 200 R, which suits ready-mix producers needing longer retention; projects moving into higher-grade or more demanding mixes can step up to ShaliPlast PCE 300 or PCE 400, while ShaliPlast ZS covers zero-slump and slip-form work. Where a consultant has written the specification around Fosroc, Space Arc also stocks Fosroc Auramix 400 — a comparable PCE superplasticiser with extended workability retention for long pump lines. Our team can run trial doses across either brand so the batch plant, not the brochure, makes the final call.
Fosroc Auramix 400 — Specifiers standardised on Fosroc systems can achieve comparable PCE performance with Auramix 400, which adds extended workability retention suited to long pump lines and RMC lead times.
