STP ShaliPlast PCE 200
A third-generation polycarboxylate ether superplasticizer that pulls mixing water out of M20–M50 concrete at dosages older SNF products cannot match — giving denser cover concrete, faster stripping and a mix that stays placeable through the pour.
What is it?
A liquid, chloride-free, PCE-based high-range water reducer from STP Limited, conforming to IS 9103:1999 and ASTM C494 Type G.
Where is it used?
Ready-mix, precast, pumped and fast-track concrete from roughly M20 to M50, including mixes blended with fly ash, GGBFS or micro silica.
Why use it?
Strong water reduction and early strength gain at just 0.2–1.0% dosage, with better slump retention than naphthalene-based (SNF) admixtures.
How is it applied?
Dosed into the final portion of mixing water at the batching plant or site mixer — never onto dry cement — then mixed a further 2–3 minutes.
About STP ShaliPlast PCE 200
ShaliPlast PCE 200 is STP Limited’s workhorse polycarboxylate admixture for the concrete grades that make up most Indian construction — the M20 to M50 band poured daily in housing, commercial buildings and light infrastructure. It is a third-generation PCE chemistry, which means it delivers the deep water reduction and flow of a modern superplasticizer without demanding the tight batching control of high-end formulations built for M60-plus concrete. The product is a light-brownish liquid, completely free of chlorides, and is classified under ASTM C494 as a Type G admixture: a high-range water reducer with a mild retarding action that helps concrete survive Indian site temperatures and transit times.
For RMC producers and contractors still running SNF-based plasticizers, the practical difference shows up in three places: a lower dose for the same slump, noticeably better slump retention in the transit mixer, and higher early strengths that shorten formwork cycles. Space Arc Engineering stocks and supplies ShaliPlast PCE 200 across Delhi NCR and pan-India, and our applicator team can support the site trials needed to lock in the correct dosage for your cement and mix design before bulk supply begins.
The technical insight
Older SNF/naphthalene superplasticizers work purely by electrostatic repulsion — sulphonate groups charge cement particles alike so they repel and release trapped water. That charge decays quickly, which is why SNF mixes lose slump fast. PCE polymers like ShaliPlast PCE 200 add a second mechanism: a comb-shaped molecule whose backbone grips the cement grain while long polyether side chains physically hold particles apart (steric hindrance). Physical separation does not decay the way surface charge does, so the mix stays workable longer at a fraction of the dose. The Type G classification adds a deliberate, mild set retardation — useful insurance in hot weather, where rising concrete temperature accelerates both slump loss and initial set. The same mechanism explains the overdose warning: too much polymer keeps particles apart too long and setting is delayed.
Where it is used
- Ready-mix concrete for residential and commercial projects in the M20–M50 range
- Precast elements — walls, boundary panels, drains, box culverts — where early demoulding drives yard output
- Fast-track in-situ concrete needing economical formwork stripping times
- Pumped concrete for mid-rise and high-rise pours where flowability governs placement
- High-workability and self-compacting concrete, at the higher 1.0–2.0% dosage band
- Blended-cement mixes using PFA (fly ash), GGBFS or micro silica
- Reinforced and pre-stressed concrete, since the formulation is chloride-free
- Hot-weather concreting where the Type G retarding action offsets rapid slump loss
Key advantages
- Very high water reduction at low dose, producing denser, stronger, less permeable concrete
- Pronounced early strength development — faster stripping for precast moulds and in-situ formwork
- Better slump retention than SNF/naphthalene superplasticizers, at a lower dosage
- Improved cohesion of the fresh mix, cutting segregation and bleeding in flowing concrete
- Nil chloride content — no corrosion risk contribution for rebar or pre-stressing steel
- Compatible with all Portland cements including SRC, and with PFA, GGBFS and micro silica blends
- Improved shrinkage and creep behaviour versus plain high-water mixes
- Economical entry into PCE technology for producers upgrading from SNF admixtures
Limitations & considerations
- Overdosing delays setting time — the Type G retarding action becomes a liability if dosing discipline is poor
- Performance shifts with cement brand, SCM content and mix design; a site trial is mandatory before bulk adoption
- Hot concrete temperatures still increase slump loss and shorten initial set — the admixture moderates this, it does not eliminate it
- Must never contact dry cement; it has to enter with the mixing water, which rules out casual hand-batching practice
- Supplied only in 250 kg barrels — impractical for small one-off pours without a decanting arrangement
- For M60+ concrete, long-haul retention or engineered SCC, a higher-spec grade such as ShaliPlast PCE 300 / 300-VM is the correct choice
Selection & best practice
Run a trial mix first with your actual cement and aggregates, starting at 0.2–1.0% by weight of cementitious material and moving to 1.0–2.0% only for high-workability or self-compacting mixes. At the mixer, charge all materials with about 85% of the mixing water and blend; then add the remaining water carrying the admixture, and mix a further 2–3 minutes until the target slump is reached. Never let the liquid touch dry cement. For walls and narrow sections, make formwork watertight, strong and well braced — flowing concrete exerts higher pressure at the base of the form than conventional concrete (slab formwork is unchanged). Store barrels cool, dry and under shed away from heat; use within 12 months unopened. Wear goggles and gloves during dosing and wash hands with warm soapy water afterwards.

Industry use cases
Ready-Mix Concrete Plants
RMC producers in NCR use PCE 200 to hold slump through 45–90 minute transit windows on M25–M40 supply, cutting rejected loads and re-tempering disputes at site.
Precast Yards
Manufacturers of drains, culverts, compound walls and paver elements rely on the early strength gain to demould faster and turn the same mould set more times per day.
High-Rise Residential & Commercial
Contractors pumping M30–M50 to upper floors get a cohesive, flowable mix that travels through the line without segregation or blockages.
Industrial & Warehouse Construction
PEB foundations, grade slabs and machine bases benefit from lower water-cement ratios — denser concrete with reduced permeability and shrinkage.
Public Infrastructure Works
Government and municipal jobs specifying IS 9103-compliant, chloride-free admixtures for reinforced structures use PCE 200 as a straightforward, tender-friendly option.

How we position STP ShaliPlast PCE 200
Within the STP admixture family, ShaliPlast PCE 200 is the mid-market anchor: step down to ShaliPlast PCE 100 for economy-grade mixes, or up to ShaliPlast PCE 300 for high-grade concrete and ShaliPlast PCE 300-VM where self-compacting concrete needs built-in viscosity modification. Sites still specifying naphthalene chemistry can source STP’s SNF-based ShaliPlast grades from us as well. Where a project consultant has standardised on Fosroc, Space Arc supplies the directly comparable Auramix PCE range (Auramix 200/300/400) and the SNF-based Conplast SP430 from the same counter — we will help you run trial mixes on either brand before you commit a tender rate.
Fosroc Auramix 300 — Specifiers choose Auramix 300 when the project admixture schedule is already written around Fosroc, or when they want Fosroc’s wider batching-plant technical support network behind a comparable mid-grade PCE.
