STP ShaliPrime 2E ASC
Two-component cold-cure epoxy antistatic primer that lays the conductive foundation of an ESD floor system — brush or roller applied at 0.30–0.50 kg/m², overcoatable in 6–8 hours.
What is it?
A two-component, cold-cure, epoxy-based antistatic primer from STP Limited, supplied black, mixed 68:32 by weight and designed as the first coat of a static-dissipative floor build-up.
Where is it used?
On concrete or masonry floors in electronics plants, data centres, ordnance stores, operating theatres and solvent-handling areas — anywhere an antistatic topping is being installed.
Why use it?
It gives the ESD system its electrical continuity while doing a primer’s normal job: sealing the substrate and anchoring the topping with outstanding adhesion.
How is it applied?
Blast-cleaned, dry concrete (max 5% moisture); mix the full kit 4 minutes with a slow-speed drill; apply one coat by brush or roller at about 100 microns; overcoat after 6–8 hours.
About STP ShaliPrime 2E ASC
An antistatic epoxy floor is only as good as the layer nobody sees. ShaliPrime 2E ASC is STP Limited’s conductive-grade primer — the black first coat that goes down before a static-dissipative topping such as ShaliFloor SL AS 3E. It is a two-component cold-cure epoxy, mixed 68:32 by weight, with deliberately low viscosity so it wets open concrete pores, locks down laitance-free substrates and leaves a uniform film of around 100 microns per coat. Coverage runs 0.30–0.50 kg/m² depending on surface porosity and profile.
For contractors, the working numbers are practical rather than punishing: 40–50 minutes of pot life at 27°C, application anywhere between 10°C and 40°C, and a 6–8 hour surface-dry window after which the base coat of the topping can go on — so a primed bay is ready for the next layer the same day or the next morning. Material arrives as 2 kg units packed five to a carton, which keeps batch sizes sensible on smaller ESD rooms where wastage matters. Space Arc Engineering stocks genuine STP material and installs the complete earthed system, not just the primer.
The technical insight
Static control in a resin floor is a circuit problem. Charge generated at the surface — trolley wheels, footfall, unwinding film — has to travel down through the topping, sideways through a conductive layer, and out through copper earthing strips bonded to the building earth. ShaliPrime 2E ASC is that lateral pathway. Its filled, conductive-grade epoxy matrix forms a continuous film beneath the topping, so every point of the floor has a low-resistance route to the nearest earthing strip. This is why the primer cannot be swapped for an ordinary epoxy primer: a standard insulating film would break the circuit and leave the antistatic topping electrically stranded, however good its own surface resistivity reads. Complete mixing matters for the same reason — partially cured or resin-rich spots behave as electrical gaps, which is why STP specifies at least 4 minutes of slow-speed drill mixing with the sides of the container scraped down.
Where it is used
- Priming concrete floors beneath self-levelling antistatic epoxy toppings such as ShaliFloor SL AS 3E
- Electronics and semiconductor manufacturing — SMT lines, assembly and test areas, EPA zones
- Data centres, server rooms and telecom switching floors
- Ordnance factories, ammunition depots and explosives handling or storage buildings
- Hospital operating theatres and areas with anaesthetic gases or sensitive diagnostic equipment
- Pharmaceutical production and powder-handling areas where dust ignition is a risk
- Solvent stores, paint mixing rooms and flammable-liquid dispensing areas
- Battery assembly, EV component manufacturing and calibration or metrology labs
Key advantages
- Purpose-built conductive primer — establishes the electrical continuity the whole ESD system depends on
- Low viscosity penetrates and seals concrete pores, giving the topping a sound, well-anchored base
- Outstanding adhesion to properly prepared concrete and masonry substrates
- Simple site handling: two components, brush or roller application, no specialist spray kit
- Workable 40–50 minute pot life at 27°C with a wide 10–40°C application window
- Overcoatable in 6–8 hours, so the floor build-up keeps moving without long hold points
- Economical consumption of 0.30–0.50 kg/m² at roughly 100 microns per coat
- 2 kg units (five per carton) allow small, controlled batches on compact ESD rooms
Limitations & considerations
- Not a finished floor — it must be overcoated with an antistatic topping and connected to copper earthing strips; on its own it provides no wearing surface
- Substrate moisture must not exceed 5%, and the concrete must be clean, sound and laitance-free; damp or green slabs need to dry out first
- Pot life shortens noticeably in hot Indian site conditions — mix only what the crew can place within the working time
- Quoted coverage is theoretical; porous or heavily profiled slabs will consume more, so run a trial patch before finalising quantities
- Application is restricted to 10–40°C substrate and ambient conditions
- Tools must be cleaned immediately with STP Thinner — once cured, the material can only be removed mechanically
Selection & best practice
Surface preparation decides the outcome. Abrasive blasting is the most effective method; on old concrete, remove oils and greases first and wash off salts and contaminants with high-pressure cleaning. Confirm the slab is dry in depth (maximum 5% moisture), sound and free of laitance before any material is opened. Mix a full kit — Component A to B at 68:32 by weight — with a slow-speed drill and paddle for at least 4 minutes, scraping down the sides of the container; incomplete mixing causes partially cured spots that compromise both cure and conductivity. Apply by brush or roller in an even coat targeting about 100 microns DFT, working within the 40–50 minute pot life. Coordinate the copper earthing-strip layout with the flooring applicator so the strips tie the primed area into the building’s earth bonding as the system is built. Allow 6–8 hours before applying the base coat of the antistatic topping, and verify system resistance-to-earth on the finished floor before handover.

Industry use cases
Electronics & Semiconductor
Primes EPA floors in SMT, assembly and test halls so the finished topping dissipates charge before it can damage components — the failure mode is invisible until field returns spike.
Defence & Ordnance
First coat of spark-safe flooring in ammunition depots and explosives handling buildings, where an earthed, continuous conductive layer is a life-safety requirement, not a preference.
Data Centres & IT
Under antistatic toppings in server halls and network rooms, protecting live equipment from discharge events carried in on trolleys and personnel.
Healthcare
Operating theatres and imaging suites where static must not interfere with electronic equipment or ignite oxygen-rich atmospheres.
Chemical & Pharmaceutical
Solvent stores, dispensing rooms and powder-processing areas where a static spark meets flammable vapour or combustible dust.

How we position STP ShaliPrime 2E ASC
ShaliPrime 2E ASC is the entry point to STP’s antistatic flooring system: pair it with ShaliFloor SL AS 3E, the three-component self-levelling antistatic epoxy topping, and a properly bonded copper earthing grid for a complete ESD floor. For adjacent non-ESD areas on the same project, ShaliPrime 2E or the solvent-free ShaliPrime 2E SF with ShaliFloor SL keeps the build-up consistent within one brand. Where the consultant has specified Fosroc, the Nitoflor SL Conductive/Dissipative system is the equivalent single-brand route. Space Arc Engineering supplies genuine material from both manufacturers and installs the full earthed system across Delhi NCR and Pan-India.
Fosroc Nitoflor SL Conductive / Dissipative — Specifiers standardising on Fosroc can achieve the same ESD outcome with the Nitoflor SL Conductive/Dissipative self-levelling epoxy system, which carries its own matched primer and topping under a single-brand warranty.
