STP ShaliPrime 2E
Two-component epoxy polyamide primer-cum-sealer that anchors epoxy floor toppings, coatings and repair mortars to concrete and steel — and tolerates 8-10% substrate moisture where ordinary primers let go.
What is it?
A 2K epoxy primer cured with a polyamide hardener, supplied as resin (Comp A, 4 kg) and hardener (Comp B, 2 kg) in a 6 kg pack. It doubles as a sealer coat on porous concrete.
Where is it used?
On concrete floors and walls, and on steel, before epoxy flooring systems, epoxy coatings and epoxy repair mortars — factories, warehouses, pharma and food-processing plants across India.
Why use it?
It wets out and seals porous concrete so the topping does not pinhole from substrate outgassing, delivers excellent adhesion at 75±2% volume solids, and can go down on surfaces carrying 8-10% moisture.
How is it applied?
Mix the full A and B packs with a slow-speed drill, apply by brush or roller at a theoretical 0.30-0.50 kg/m², re-prime any dry absorbent patches, then lay the topping once tacky or within the overcoating window (minimum 8 hours).
About STP ShaliPrime 2E
Every epoxy floor that fails at the bond line failed at the primer, which is why ShaliPrime 2E sits at the front of STP Limited’s ShaliFloor system build-ups. It is a two-component, solvent-borne epoxy formulated on polyamide-cured chemistry, designed to soak into a prepared concrete or metal substrate, lock into the surface profile, and present a chemically compatible, tacky face for the epoxy screed, self-leveller or coating that follows. Because it also functions as a sealer, one product handles both jobs on porous Indian slabs: it binds residual surface dust and plugs capillaries so that air trapped in the concrete cannot vent up through the wet topping and leave bubbles or pinholes in the finished floor.
For contractors, the practical numbers matter as much as the chemistry. A 6 kg unit is pre-proportioned (4 kg resin, 2 kg hardener) so there is no site batching error, pot life is a comfortable 2 hours at 27°C, and the primed surface accepts the next coat after a minimum of 8 hours — a clean prime-today, top-tomorrow cycle. Space Arc Engineering stocks ShaliPrime 2E alongside the ShaliFloor toppings it is designed to work under, and our applicator teams support priming on projects across Delhi NCR and Pan-India.
The technical insight
The choice of a polyamide hardener over a conventional amine is deliberate. Polyamide-cured epoxies wet out damp and marginally contaminated surfaces better, cure with less sensitivity to surface moisture, and produce a slightly more flexible film — which is why ShaliPrime 2E can be applied on substrates holding 8-10% moisture and still develop excellent adhesion to concrete. The solvent carrier drops the mixed viscosity so the primer penetrates the pore structure rather than sitting on top; as the solvent flashes off, roughly 75% of the applied film remains as cured solids keyed into the substrate. That penetrated, continuous film does two things at once: it gives the topping an epoxy-to-epoxy chemical bond instead of a mechanical grip on bare concrete, and it caps the capillary network so rising air cannot nucleate bubbles in a self-leveling topping as it cures.
Where it is used
- Priming ground and shot-blasted concrete floors before epoxy self-leveling and screed systems such as ShaliFloor 3ES
- Primer coat under epoxy wall and floor coatings in pharmaceutical, food and beverage facilities
- Bonding primer beneath epoxy repair mortars like ShaliFix EM in patch-repair work
- Priming steel and other metal surfaces prior to epoxy coating build-ups
- Sealer coat on porous or dusty concrete to bind the surface and stop outgassing before topping
- Substrate priming for PU-topped systems such as ShaliFloor SLTC 3PU in warehouses and logistics floors
- Priming slabs carrying residual moisture of 8-10% where a standard moisture-sensitive primer would debond
Key advantages
- Primer and sealer in one product — fewer materials and passes on porous slabs
- Applies on damp surfaces holding 8-10% moisture, a common reality on Indian ground-floor slabs
- High film build for a primer at 75±2% volume solids
- Seals capillaries and stops substrate outgassing, preventing bubbles and pinholes in the finished topping
- Excellent adhesion to concrete, with equally reliable keying on prepared steel
- Workable 2-hour pot life at 27°C suits large floor plates and hot-climate scheduling
- Overcoatable after 8 hours minimum — prime in the evening, lay the topping next morning
- Cured film resists intermittent temperature exposure up to 120°C
Limitations & considerations
- Not for substrates with rising dampness, osmosis risk or relative humidity above 75% — specify a moisture-tolerant system instead
- Unsuitable over asphalt, weak or friable concrete, unmodified sand-cement screeds, and PVC tiles or sheets
- Should not be used on substrates that move substantially in service, such as steel walkways
- Solvent-borne with a 30°C flash point — flammable in the wet state, so ventilation is essential and hot work must be excluded
- New concrete must be at least 28 days cured before priming
- Highly porous slabs absorb the primer quickly, leaving dry patches that need a second coat — budget consumption above the theoretical minimum of 0.30 kg/m²
Selection & best practice
Prepare the substrate by mechanical grinding or shot blasting to a lightly textured, sound profile; remove dust, laitance, oil, grease and old paint completely, and confirm the concrete is at least 28 days old and dry on the surface. Mix component A with a slow-speed drill (200-400 rpm) fitted with a spiral paddle, blend in component B until fully homogeneous, then let the mix stand briefly so entrapped air escapes. Apply by brush or roller at 0.30-0.50 kg/m². Watch porous areas: where the primer flashes in and leaves light, dry-looking patches, apply a second coat there — this is what guarantees adhesion and blocks outgassing. Lay epoxy screeds and mortars while the primer is still tacky; for self-leveling systems and epoxy coatings, let the primer dry 6-8 hours or overnight first. Keep substrate and ambient temperature between 10-40°C, and observe the minimum 8-hour overcoating interval. Being a low-flash-point material, keep ignition sources away and ventilate enclosed areas throughout.

Industry use cases
Pharmaceutical & Food Plants
Primes concrete floors and coved walls before seamless epoxy systems in GMP-driven facilities, where a pinhole-free, fully bonded finish is an audit requirement, not a preference.
Warehousing & Logistics
Seals large, porous warehouse slabs ahead of epoxy screeds and PU toppings, letting crews prime one bay in the evening and top it the next day on tight handover programmes.
Automotive & Engineering Units
Anchors heavy-duty epoxy screeds on shop floors that take forklift traffic and intermittent heat near process equipment, with the cured primer tolerating up to 120°C.
Chemical & Process Industries
Provides the bond coat under chemically resistant epoxy linings on floors, plinths and bunds, on both concrete and prepared steel within the same package.
Concrete Repair Works
Used as the bonding primer beneath epoxy repair mortars on spalled columns, machine foundations and floor patches, so the repair acts monolithically with the parent concrete.

How we position STP ShaliPrime 2E
ShaliPrime 2E is the entry point to STP’s epoxy flooring family: it is the specified primer beneath ShaliFloor 3ES screeds and self-levellers, ShaliFloor SLTC 3PU toppings and ShaliFix EM repair mortars, so ordering the primer and topping together from Space Arc keeps the whole build-up chemically matched and single-source. Where solvent restrictions apply — occupied buildings, food plants in production — ask us about STP’s solvent-free ShaliPrime 2E SF instead. On projects specified around Fosroc’s Nitoflor flooring range, the natural counterpart primer is Fosroc Nitoprime 30, which we also stock; for damp-substrate or waterproofing-led conditions beyond this primer’s 75% RH limit, our team can propose a moisture-tolerant system from the Fosroc or Sika lines we distribute.
Fosroc Nitoprime 30 — Specifiers running a Fosroc Nitoflor flooring build-up would prime with Nitoprime 30 instead, keeping the entire system under one manufacturer’s compatibility and warranty umbrella.
