STP ShaliTile Grout
A single-component, polymer-fortified cement grout that fills tile joints with a smooth, uniform, water-resistant line you only have to mix with water on site.
What is it?
A ready-blended, single-component cement tile joint filler from STP, fortified with organic polymers to beat the cracking and discolouration you get from plain cement-sand grouting.
Where is it used?
Ceramic, vitrified and stone tile joints on floors and walls in bathrooms, kitchens, balconies, lobbies and external cladding across homes and commercial buildings.
Why use it?
It gives a consistent shade, a smooth non-slump line and far better water and mould resistance than site-batched cement-sand, with no separate polymer to add.
How is it applied?
Blend 340-360 ml water per 1 kg powder to a lump-free creamy paste, let it stand about 10 minutes, then work it into the joints with a sponge, spatula or soft cloth and wipe the tile face clean.
About STP ShaliTile Grout
STP ShaliTile Grout is the everyday cementitious jointing choice for tiled work where the specifier wants a controlled, repeatable finish rather than whatever the mason mixes in a bucket. It is a single-component powder of selected cements and organic additives; on site you add only clean water, mix to a thick creamy consistency, and you have a thixotropic, non-slump grout that stays where you place it on both floors and walls. Because the polymer and pigment are already blended into every bag, the colour comes out even from the first joint to the last, which is exactly what plain cement-sand grouting fails to deliver once different batches and hands get involved.
For Space Arc’s contractor and consultant clients across Delhi NCR and Pan-India, the appeal is practical. The product overcomes the three classic complaints against conventional grout: hairline cracking as it dries, patchy discolouration, and poor resistance to standing water. It suits the bulk of residential and commercial tiling, and where the exposure turns aggressive, it sits neatly below STP’s own three-component epoxy grade, ShaliTile Grout E, so you can specify one family across an entire building and only step up to epoxy where the duty genuinely demands it.
The technical insight
Ordinary cement-sand grout fails at the joint for one reason: it is porous and brittle. As the mix loses water it shrinks unevenly, opening micro-cracks, and the open capillary structure then wicks water and dirt, which shows up as staining and encourages mould. ShaliTile Grout tackles both mechanisms in the powder itself. The organic additives act as internal polymers that hold water during set for more even hydration, cut drying shrinkage, and bridge the paste so the hardened joint is denser and less permeable. The thixotropic rheology is the other half of the story, it lets the paste be worked into a vertical wall joint without slumping out, so the joint is filled solid to full depth rather than skinned over. The short stand time of about 10 minutes after mixing lets the polymers wet out and the mix stabilise before tooling, which is why the finished line reads smooth and uniform instead of grainy.
Where it is used
- Filling joints of ceramic and vitrified floor and wall tiles in residential bathrooms and kitchens
- Grouting tiled work in commercial washrooms, lobbies, corridors and staircases
- Jointing natural and engineered stone cladding on internal walls
- Grouting external floor and wall tile cladding exposed to rain
- Pointing tiled balconies, utility areas and service floors
- Re-grouting and touch-up of failed or discoloured cement-sand joints during renovation
- Tiled feature walls and splashbacks where a consistent joint colour is critical
- General building-finish tiling on projects that need a repeatable, specified grout
Key advantages
- Single-component, just add water, no separate polymer or admixture to measure on site
- Pre-blended pigment gives a consistent shade from the first joint to the last
- Organic additives sharply reduce drying shrinkage and hairline cracking versus cement-sand
- Denser, less porous joint resists water ingress and mould in wet areas
- Thixotropic, non-slump paste fills vertical wall joints solid without sagging
- Smooth, easy-clean finish that wipes off the tile face with a damp sponge
- Available in a range of shades to match most tile palettes
- Sits in the same STP family as the epoxy ShaliTile Grout E for easy step-up specification
Limitations & considerations
- It is a cementitious grout, not epoxy, so it is not intended for continuous chemical or acid exposure
- In constantly wet or aggressive service it benefits from a suitable joint sealer, and STP’s epoxy ShaliTile Grout E is the better choice
- Colour and finish depend on consistent water dosage and clean tools, over-watering will weaken and lighten the joint
- Best suited to normal tile joint widths, very wide or structural movement joints need a dedicated sealant, not grout
- Like all cement grout it needs the joints raked clean and slightly damp, and the fresh work protected from fast drying and traffic while it cures
Selection & best practice
Rake the joints clean to full depth and remove all adhesive smears, dust and loose material, then lightly dampen highly absorbent tiles or stone. Add the powder to clean water at roughly 340-360 ml per 1 kg and mix to a lump-free, thick creamy paste, then let it stand about 10 minutes so the polymers wet out before you retemper by stirring. Press the paste firmly into the joints with a sponge, rubber spatula or soft cloth so they are packed solid, working diagonally across the tile. Strike off surplus while the grout is still plastic and wipe the tile face clean with a barely damp sponge, rinsing often, then give a final polish with a dry cloth once a light haze forms. Keep the fresh joints out of standing water and heavy foot traffic while they cure, and in showers, sunk slabs and other permanently wet zones plan for a joint sealer or step up to the epoxy grade.

How we position STP ShaliTile Grout
STP ShaliTile Grout is Space Arc’s workhorse cementitious tile grout for everyday residential and commercial tiling. When the exposure turns aggressive, chemicals, acids or constant water, step up within the same STP family to the three-component epoxy ShaliTile Grout E. Pair the grout with a matching tile adhesive to complete the system, such as Fosroc Nitobond tile adhesive from our Fosroc range. For clients who want a premium coloured or epoxy grout from another brand family we also stock Sika’s SikaCeram-638 ColourGrout Super (cementitious) and SikaCeram-850 Design (epoxy). Space Arc supplies and applies all of these as an authorised distributor across Delhi NCR and Pan-India.
