Fosroc Nitoflor HB200 UT
Three-part, water-based polyurethane high-build coating and sealer engineered for hygiene-critical food, dairy and pharmaceutical floors.
What is it?
A three-component, water-based, non-tainting polyurethane (PU) high-build coating that acts as the sealer/finish coat over Fosroc Nitoflor Coving UT mortar, building roughly 0.4 mm of seamless, chemically resistant film across two coats.
Where is it used?
Hygiene-critical wet and dry process areas in food, dairy, beverage and pharmaceutical plants — production halls, dairies, bottling lines, abattoirs, commercial kitchens and process zones where coving and floors must be cleanable and chemical-resistant.
Why use it?
It seals and protects PU screeds/coving with proven resistance to food-industry chemicals (citric acid, acetic/spirit vinegar, lactic acid, alcohols) plus inorganic acids, fuels and oils, is water-based and non-tainting so it suits food contact environments, and is non-flammable with a wide -45°C to +120°C service range.
How is it applied?
Mix Part A base, Part B hardener and the filler aggregate to a lump-free consistency, then roller-apply two coats with a medium-nap roller at ~200 microns WFT per coat over a primed/prepared substrate or Nitoflor Coving UT, observing dew-point and 5-30°C application limits.
About Fosroc Nitoflor HB200 UT
Fosroc Nitoflor HB200 UT is a three-part, water-based polyurethane (PU) high-build coating that functions as the protective sealer and decorative finish coat for the Fosroc Nitoflor Coving UT mortar system. It is part of Fosroc’s Nitoflor “UT” (urethane technology) family — the same PU chemistry used in Fosroc’s heavy-duty seamless industrial flooring — but formulated specifically as a thin, roller-applied top coat rather than a structural screed. The product cures to a matt, mottled finish and builds a nominal dry film of around 0.4 mm when applied as the recommended two coats.
For Indian contractors, consultants and plant engineers, the appeal of HB200 UT lies in where it sits in the build-up. Modern hygiene-critical floors in food, dairy, beverage and pharmaceutical facilities are rarely a single product — they are a system of primer, body screed (such as a Nitoflor PU screed), coving at the wall-floor junction, and a sealer that ties everything together into a washable, joint-free surface. HB200 UT is engineered to be that sealer over Nitoflor Coving UT, ensuring the coving and the floor share the same chemical resistance, cleanability and appearance. Because it is water-based and non-tainting, it is suited to environments where solvent odours and food contamination are unacceptable.
Space Arc Engineering supplies Nitoflor HB200 UT as an authorised Fosroc distributor and applicator across Delhi NCR and Pan-India. We typically specify and quote it alongside the rest of the Nitoflor UT system so that procurement teams receive a single, compatible flooring package rather than mismatched coats from different chemistries. Every figure on this page is drawn from the Fosroc India technical data sheet (ref. The technical insight
The “UT” designation signals urethane technology — a polyurethane binder system valued in flooring for its balance of chemical resistance, thermal tolerance and flexibility, which is generally superior to standard epoxy in resisting organic food acids and thermal cycling. HB200 UT is a three-component product: a coloured base (Part A), a hardener (Part B) and a graded filler/aggregate bag. The aggregate is what makes it “high-build” — it lets a roller-applied coating reach ~200 microns wet film per coat and a combined ~0.4 mm dry build, far more than a conventional thin paint, while also contributing slip resistance and the characteristic mottled matt look.
Two technical points matter on site. First, it is water-based and non-flammable, which simplifies storage, ventilation and fire compliance compared with solvent-based PU sealers — a real advantage inside operating food plants. Second, like most aliphatic-free PU coatings it is not colour-fast: it can yellow over time under UV and heat, most visibly on light shades and blues. This does not affect chemical resistance or durability, but it means HB200 UT is best treated as a performance sealer for interior process areas rather than a decorative coating for daylight-exposed or aesthetic-critical zones. Reported mechanical values (compressive ~70 MPa, tensile ~9 MPa, flexural ~22 MPa to BS 6319) and Taber abrasion and water-absorption data reflect the cured composite system used as part of the Coving UT build-up.

- Compatible, single-system finish for Nitoflor Coving UT, giving coving and floor matching performance
- Easily cleaned with industry-standard cleaning chemicals and techniques
- 12-month shelf life in unopened packs for practical project scheduling
Limitations & considerations
- Not colour-fast — may yellow over time under UV/heat, most noticeably on light and blue shades (does not affect chemical resistance or durability)
- Designed as a sealer for Nitoflor Coving UT, not as a standalone structural floor screed
- Short working life of ~15 minutes after mixing demands fast, well-organised roller application
- Tight application window: 5-30°C ambient/substrate, substrate at least 3°C above dew point, and relative humidity must not be (or be anticipated to be) >90%
- Batch colour variation is possible — single-batch material recommended for the final finish in any one area
- Three-component mixing (base + hardener + filler) requires correct on-site proportioning and thorough mixing to avoid soft spots or uneven finish
- Substrate moisture and condensation must be controlled for at least 48 hours after application to avoid blooming
Selection & best practice
Treat HB200 UT as part of a system, not a paint. Apply it only over a sound, primed substrate or freshly prepared Nitoflor Coving UT, and confirm site conditions before opening packs: ambient and substrate temperature 5-30°C, substrate at least 3°C above dew point, and relative humidity not exceeding 90% during application or the tack-free period. Because usable working life is only about 15 minutes, mix in full packs and only as much as the crew can lay immediately — drain the hardener fully into the coloured base, mix for at least one minute, then add the filler bag slowly and mix a further 1-2 minutes to a lump-free consistency. Roller two thin coats at ~200 microns WFT each rather than one heavy coat, pushing the material well into the surface and pulling back to a tight, even film; inconsistent thickness shows as an uneven finish. Use single-batch material for the final finish in any one area to avoid visible colour variation, allow 16-48 hours between coats, and keep traffic off until cured (24 hours light, 48 hours heavy, 7 days full cure). Protect the fresh floor from condensation for at least 48 hours.

How we position Fosroc Nitoflor HB200 UT
Within the Fosroc range, Nitoflor HB200 UT is a specialist component rather than a general-purpose floor coating: it is the dedicated sealer/finish for the Nitoflor Coving UT system and is almost always specified alongside a Nitoflor PU screed, an appropriate primer and Nitoflor coving. Where the project needs a heavier seamless body, Fosroc’s broader Nitoflor UT screeds and self-smoothing epoxies (such as the Nitoflor FC range) carry the load, and HB200 UT ties the coving and floor together with a matching, chemically resistant top coat. For solvent-free epoxy floor toppings or self-levellers, Fosroc Nitoflor SL and Nitocote/Nitoflor epoxy options are the natural in-house alternatives, while Fosroc Nitoflor Hardener and Quartztop address dry-shake wear surfaces. Against competitor systems, the closest equivalents for hygienic PU food-grade flooring are Sika’s Sikafloor PurCem polyurethane-cement range and MBS/MYK’s PU and epoxy flooring lines; for site-applied protective and waterproof coatings, Dr. Fixit (Pidilite) and STP (Shalimar/Saint-Gobain) offer adjacent products, though these are more often positioned in waterproofing and general protection than in food-grade PU coving sealers. The honest takeaway: choose HB200 UT when you are building a Fosroc Nitoflor Coving UT hygienic floor and want a fully compatible, food-safe sealer; if the priority is a thick, monolithic PU-cement screed for the most aggressive thermal-shock and impact duty, evaluate it together with a full Nitoflor UT screed or a PU-cement system such as Sikafloor PurCem. Space Arc can advise impartially and supply the right Fosroc build-up for the application.
