What is it?

Patchroc Super is a Fosroc single-component, pre-packaged repair concrete based on a blend of inorganic cements, set-controlling additives and pre-graded aggregates. Only clean water is added on site to produce a non-segregating, rapid-setting, shrinkage-controlled mortar/concrete for large-volume repairs.

Where is it used?

Reinstating deep voids and large repair pockets in concrete floors, industrial slabs, roads, bridge decks, pavements, ramps and structural concrete where a minimum repair depth of 50 mm and fast return to service are required.

Why use it?

It combines a rapid set (minimal downtime) with low heat of hydration and controlled shrinkage, so deep sections can be reinstated in one pour without the cracking, debonding or thermal stress typical of conventional rapid-set repairs. Factory pre-blending removes site batching errors.

How is it applied?

Saw-cut and break out to sound concrete, clean and pre-soak the substrate to a saturated surface-dry condition, gauge a 25 kg bag with the recommended clean water, mix mechanically, place and compact into the void in lifts of 50 mm or greater, finish and then cure.

About Fosroc Patchroc Super

Patchroc Super is part of Fosroc’s Patchroc family of pre-packaged concrete repair materials, engineered specifically for large-volume repair work rather than thin patching. Where the standard Patchroc and Patchroc GP grades are intended for relatively shallow patches in floors and pavements, Patchroc Super is formulated to fill deep voids with a minimum repair depth of 50 mm in a single operation. It is supplied as a one-component dry blend in moisture-resistant bags; the contractor simply adds a controlled quantity of clean water on site, eliminating the need for separate cement, sand and aggregate and removing the batching variability that plagues hand-mixed concrete repairs.\n\nThe material is built around a blend of inorganic cements together with modifying additives that govern the rate of set and strength gain, and pre-graded aggregates that give a cohesive, non-segregating mix. The chemistry is deliberately chosen so that the product gains strength rapidly while keeping the heat of hydration low. This matters because most fast-setting repair materials generate significant internal heat as they cure, and in thick sections that heat causes thermal gradients, internal stress and ultimately cracking or debonding from the parent concrete. By controlling both shrinkage and heat, Patchroc Super is able to reinstate thick sections that a normal rapid-set mortar could not handle safely. Notably, the product does not contain calcium chloride, which protects any embedded or adjacent steel reinforcement from chloride-induced corrosion — an important consideration for structural and infrastructure repairs in India’s humid coastal and monsoon-exposed environments.\n\nFor contractors, consultants and asset owners, the appeal is operational: a repair that can be opened to traffic or returned to service quickly, with confidence that it will bond intimately to the substrate and remain dimensionally stable. For Space Arc Engineering’s clients across Delhi NCR and Pan-India — highway and airport agencies, industrial plants, warehousing and logistics operators, and infrastructure contractors — this translates into shorter shutdowns and durable, monolithic repairs in high-wear, deep-section applications.

The technical insight

The defining engineering feature of Patchroc Super is the trade-off it resolves between speed and section thickness. Rapid strength gain in cementitious systems is normally driven by accelerated hydration, which is exothermic; in a deep pour the core heats up faster than the surface, the section expands, and as it cools it goes into tension — producing the map cracking and edge debonding seen with ordinary fast-set patches placed too thick. Patchroc Super’s inorganic cement blend is formulated for a low heat of hydration alongside its rapid set, so the temperature rise through a 50 mm-plus lift stays controlled and the resulting internal stress at the bond line is minimised. Combined with active shrinkage control, this is what allows large volumes to be placed in one operation rather than in multiple thin, time-separated lifts. The pre-graded aggregate skeleton keeps the mix non-segregating during placement and compaction, which is essential for achieving full, dense contact against an irregular broken-out substrate — the intimacy of that surface contact is precisely what delivers the strong mechanical bond. The chloride-free formulation keeps the system compatible with reinforced concrete repair, where any introduced chloride would compromise the passive layer protecting the steel. In practice the performance is realised only if the substrate is correctly prepared: cut back to sound, sound-aggregate-exposed concrete, thoroughly cleaned, and pre-saturated to a saturated surface-dry state so the dry substrate does not draw mix water away from the fresh repair and starve the bond zone.

Where it is used

  • Reinstating deep voids and spalled pockets (50 mm and deeper) in concrete floors and industrial slabs
  • Large-volume repairs to roads, expressways, toll plazas and pavement quality concrete (PQC)
  • Bridge deck, approach slab and crash-barrier base reinstatement
  • Repair of loading bays, ramps, hardstandings and heavy-traffic warehouse floors
  • Reprofiling and filling of break-out areas around joints, manholes and embedded fixtures
  • Rapid reinstatement works where the surface must be returned to traffic or service quickly
  • Structural concrete repair where a chloride-free, low-shrinkage deep-fill material is specified

Key advantages

  • Single-component, pre-packaged — only clean water added on site, eliminating site batching variation
  • Designed for large-volume, deep repairs from a 50 mm minimum depth in a single placement
  • Rapid set minimises operational disruption and shortens road/floor closure times
  • Low heat of hydration controls thermal stress in thick sections, reducing cracking risk
  • Controlled shrinkage eliminates risk of cracking and debonding at the bond line
  • Excellent, intimate bond to the prepared concrete substrate
  • Non-segregating, cohesive mix from pre-graded aggregates for dense, full compaction
  • Does not contain calcium chloride — safe for use around steel reinforcement
  • Quality-controlled factory blend gives consistent, repeatable repair performance

Limitations & considerations

  • Intended for large-volume / deep repairs from 50 mm minimum depth — not suited to thin feather-edge patching (use Patchroc, Patchroc GP or a Renderoc mortar instead)
  • Rapid set gives a limited working time, so mixed material must be placed and compacted promptly, especially in hot Indian site conditions
  • Performance depends on correct substrate preparation — break out to sound concrete and pre-soak to saturated surface-dry
  • As a cementitious system it needs proper curing to develop full strength and durability
  • Water dosage must follow the datasheet; over-watering reduces strength and increases shrinkage
  • Always confirm the current product datasheet and project-specific numeric values (strength, water demand, yield, time to traffic) with Fosroc / Space Arc before specifying, as published figures vary by region and revision

Selection & best practice

Saw-cut the perimeter of the repair to a clean edge (avoid feather edges) and break out all unsound, contaminated or carbonated concrete down to a sound substrate, exposing aggregate and any corroded reinforcement. Clean and prime corroded steel as required and remove all dust and debris. Thoroughly pre-soak the substrate and bring it to a saturated surface-dry (SSD) condition before placing so it does not absorb mix water. Gauge each 25 kg bag with the manufacturer-recommended quantity of clean water only, mix mechanically with a forced-action or pan mixer to a uniform consistency, and place promptly while workable. Compact fully into the void in lifts of 50 mm or more, working the material against the substrate edges to achieve intimate contact, then strike off and finish. Cure immediately and continuously using a Fosroc curing membrane (e.g. Concure range) or wet hessian/polythene to protect against rapid moisture loss, particularly in Delhi NCR summer and dry-wind conditions. Mix only what can be placed within the working time, and do not re-temper material that has begun to set.

Frequently asked questions

Is Fosroc Patchroc Super a real product, and what exactly is it?
Yes. Patchroc Super is a genuine Fosroc product listed on the official Fosroc website. It is a pre-packaged, single-component cementitious repair concrete — a factory blend of inorganic cements, set-controlling additives and pre-graded aggregates — to which only clean water is added on site. It is designed for rapid-set, large-volume repair of deep voids in concrete.
What is the minimum thickness Patchroc Super can be applied at?
It is intended for large-volume repairs with a minimum depth of 50 mm. For shallow or feather-edge patching it is not the right product — Fosroc’s standard Patchroc, Patchroc GP or a Renderoc repair mortar should be used instead.
Does Patchroc Super crack in thick, deep repairs?
It is specifically formulated to avoid this. The inorganic cement blend has a low heat of hydration and the product has controlled shrinkage, so the thermal stress and bond-line stress that normally cause cracking and debonding in thick rapid-set repairs are minimised. Correct substrate preparation and curing are still essential to realise this performance.
Is it safe to use around steel reinforcement?
Yes. Patchroc Super does not contain calcium chloride, so it does not introduce chlorides that would promote corrosion of embedded or adjacent reinforcing steel. This makes it suitable for reinforced structural and infrastructure repairs.
How is Patchroc Super mixed and placed?
Break out to sound concrete and pre-soak the substrate to a saturated surface-dry condition. Add the recommended quantity of clean water to the bag, mix mechanically to a uniform consistency, then place and compact into the void in lifts of 50 mm or more, finish, and cure. Because it sets rapidly, only mix what can be placed within the working time. Always follow the current Fosroc datasheet for exact water dosage.
How does Patchroc Super differ from Patchroc, Patchroc GP and Patchroc 250?
All are pre-packaged, water-added Fosroc patch repair materials, but they target different jobs. Patchroc and Patchroc GP are for smaller, shallower patches in floors and pavements; Patchroc 250 reinstates thick sections rapidly with controlled heat; and Patchroc Super is aimed at large-volume deep voids from 50 mm. Space Arc can help select the correct grade for your repair depth and service requirement.
Can Space Arc Engineering supply Patchroc Super in Delhi NCR and across India?
Yes. Space Arc Engineering is an authorised Fosroc distributor and applicator serving Delhi NCR and Pan-India. We supply Patchroc Super and the wider Fosroc concrete-repair range, and can advise on product selection, surface preparation, curing and application support for your project.

How we position Fosroc Patchroc Super

Patchroc Super sits at the heavy-duty, deep-repair end of Fosroc’s Patchroc concrete repair family. Within that range it complements rather than replaces the other grades: choose Patchroc or Patchroc GP for shallow, fast emergency patches in floors and pavements, Patchroc 250 for rapidly reinstating thick sections, Patchroc RSP where a free-flowing self-compacting repair concrete is needed, and Patchroc Super where large volumes and deep voids from 50 mm must be filled in one pour with controlled heat and shrinkage. For thinner hand-applied repairs and reprofiling, Fosroc’s Renderoc mortar range (for example Renderoc HB high-build mortars and Renderoc RSXtra) is the logical partner, paired with Nitoprime/Nitobond bonding aids and Concure curing membranes to complete the system. Among competing brands available in India, credible alternatives for large-volume and rapid concrete repair include Sika (MonoTop and SikaQuick ranges), MBS/MYK (repair micro-concretes and mortars), Dr. Fixit (Pidilite’s repair mortar and micro-concrete range) and STP/Sika and other specialist suppliers’ fast-set repair concretes. These can be technically comparable on individual parameters, so selection should be driven by the specified standard, required time-to-traffic, repair depth, and — critically — the application support and warranty behind the product. As an authorised Fosroc distributor and applicator, Space Arc Engineering positions Patchroc Super for clients who need a proven, factory-blended deep-repair concrete backed by on-site technical guidance rather than a generic bagged product, and can benchmark it honestly against the alternatives for any given specification.
