Fosroc Conbextra Sureflow 120
High-strength, non-shrink, free-flowing cementitious grout engineered for precision under-base and anchoring work — just add water, pour, and load.
What is it?
A single-component, high-strength, non-shrink, flowable cementitious grout from Fosroc’s Conbextra Sureflow range. It is a pre-blended dry powder that becomes a self-levelling, free-flowing grout on site simply by adding clean water — no metallic iron, no on-site batching of aggregates.
Where is it used?
Beneath industrial machine base plates, under structural steel columns, stanchions and poles, in joints of precast/prefabricated elements, and in strengthening and pre-waterproofing repairs on metro, highway, bridge and dam structures.
Why use it?
It delivers high early and final compressive strength with controlled non-shrink behaviour, so load-bearing contact between base plate and foundation is full and dependable. Resistance to oils, acids and freeze-thaw cycling makes it durable in plant and infrastructure environments.
How is it applied?
Saturate the substrate, mix the powder with the recommended water using a slow-speed drill and paddle to a flowable consistency, then pour continuously from one side into the formed gap to avoid air entrapment. Cure exposed surfaces with water or a Fosroc curing membrane.
About Fosroc Conbextra Sureflow 120
Fosroc Conbextra Sureflow 120 belongs to Fosroc’s modern Sureflow generation of construction grouts — pre-packaged cementitious systems engineered to take the guesswork out of high-performance grouting on Indian sites. It arrives as a ready-to-use dry powder in moisture-resistant packaging; the crew adds only clean water, mixes, and places. There are no separate aggregates to dose, no resin components to proportion, and crucially no metallic iron filings in the formulation, so the cured grout is not prone to the rust-staining and corrosion-driven expansion that older iron-aided grouts could suffer in damp conditions. For contractors and consultants this means a repeatable, specification-friendly material whose behaviour does not depend on a particular ganger’s batching habits. The Sureflow chemistry is built around stable, controlled flow: the mix stays mobile long enough to travel under a wide base plate and self-level into corners, while a non-shrink mechanism compensates for the plastic and drying shrinkage that would otherwise leave gaps and reduce effective bearing area. The result is a grout that fills completely, hardens with high early strength for fast formwork striking and load application, and develops the final strength needed under dynamic plant loads. Fosroc positions Sureflow 120 as a high-strength member of the range, a step up from Conbextra Sureflow 100, for situations where the engineer wants greater load capacity or faster strength gain. Because it is oil- and acid-resistant and stands up to freeze-thaw cycling, it suits not just clean factory floors but also exposed engineering works — metros, highways, dams and similar infrastructure where Fosroc explicitly markets the product. As an authorised Fosroc distributor and applicator, Space Arc Engineering supplies Conbextra Sureflow 120 with the supporting Fosroc technical data, ancillary products and on-site method guidance that procurement teams in Delhi NCR and across India increasingly demand for audited, warranty-backed grouting packages.
The technical insight
The engineering value of a precision grout lies almost entirely in two competing demands: it must flow far enough to fill a tight, wide gap without vibration, yet it must not shrink away from the steel it is meant to bear against. Conbextra Sureflow 120 resolves this with the Sureflow flow-stabilising technology and a non-shrink (shrinkage-compensated) cementitious matrix. Practically, this means the effective bearing area under a machine base or column stays close to 100 percent of the designed contact area — the single most important factor in transferring static and dynamic loads without point-loading, fretting or eventual base-plate movement. The absence of metallic iron is a deliberate durability choice: iron-based expansion grouts can corrode in the presence of moisture and chloride, so a chemically expansive, iron-free system is the safer specification for damp foundations, coastal sites and exposed infrastructure. Because the product is a closed, factory-blended powder, the water/powder ratio is the only field variable that materially changes performance — over-watering to chase easier flow drops compressive strength and can trigger bleed and segregation, which is why the consistency must be controlled to the datasheet, not by eye. For deep or large-volume pours, heat of hydration and the risk of differential thermal stress matter; thick lifts should be placed within the manufacturer’s stated maximum to avoid cracking. Compared with epoxy grouts such as Conbextra EP120, this cementitious system trades the very highest chemical resistance and thin-bond capability for far better thermal compatibility with concrete, easier large-volume placement, lower cost per litre, and simple water-only mixing — the right balance for the majority of structural and machinery grouting in India.
Where it is used
- Grouting under industrial machine base plates, compressors, pumps, turbines and reciprocating equipment requiring full, non-shrink bearing contact
- Fixing and underpinning structural steel columns, stanchions, poles and crane rails
- Filling joints and connections between precast and prefabricated concrete elements
- Anchoring of holding-down bolts, dowels, starter bars and fixings in pockets and sleeves
- Repair, levelling and reinstatement work ahead of waterproofing on slabs and structures
- High-load grouting on infrastructure projects — metro viaducts, highway structures, bridges and dam works
- Strengthening and load-transfer applications in reinforced-concrete remediation
Key advantages
- Single-component convenience — ready to use by adding only clean water, no site batching of aggregates or resins
- High early and final compressive strength for fast formwork removal and quicker return to service
- Non-shrink, free-flowing behaviour that self-levels and fills tight gaps to maximise bearing area
- No metallic iron content, so it is not corroded or stained by moisture and is safer in damp or chloride-prone conditions
- Resistant to oils and acids, suiting industrial plant and workshop floors
- Durable under freeze-thaw cycling, supporting use on exposed infrastructure
- Pre-packaged factory blend gives consistent, repeatable, specification-friendly results across crews
- Backed by Fosroc technical support and ancillary products through an authorised distributor
Limitations & considerations
- Exact numeric values for compressive strength, flow, density, water demand and gap thickness must be taken from the current country-specific Fosroc TDS for Sureflow 120 before specifying — Space Arc can supply the controlled datasheet on request
- Performance is sensitive to the water/powder ratio; over-watering to improve flow reduces strength and can cause bleed and segregation
- As a cementitious grout it offers lower chemical resistance and thin-section bond strength than epoxy grouts such as Conbextra EP120 — choose epoxy for aggressive chemical exposure or very thin, high-impact bedding
- Maximum pour thickness per lift is limited by heat of hydration; deep sections must be placed within the stated limit to avoid thermal cracking
- Requires sound, clean, pre-saturated substrate and adequate formwork; placement quality directly governs in-place performance
- Cold or very hot ambient temperatures alter working time and strength gain and call for the relevant hot/cold-weather precautions
- Cured exposed surfaces must be properly water- or membrane-cured to prevent surface drying and dusting
Selection & best practice
Confirm the current Fosroc TDS figures for the grade and design the gap and pour accordingly. Build leak-tight formwork with a head box on the pour side and a 45-degree slope, leaving a small clearance under the base plate. Pre-saturate the concrete and remove free water before placing. Mix mechanically with a slow-speed drill and paddle to the datasheet consistency — never add extra water to ease flow. Pour continuously from one side only, in a single direction, so air is pushed ahead of the grout and not trapped; keep a constant head until the gap is full. Where lifts exceed the maximum recommended thickness, place in layers or add the approved aggregate extension. Strike formwork only after early strength is reached, trim the surplus, and cure all exposed faces with water or a Fosroc curing membrane. For machinery, allow the specified strength to develop before commissioning under load.

How we position Fosroc Conbextra Sureflow 120
Conbextra Sureflow 120 sits in the high-strength tier of Fosroc’s modern Sureflow cementitious grout family, one step above Conbextra Sureflow 100 for greater load capacity and faster strength gain, while remaining far easier to place in volume than epoxy systems. Within the Fosroc range it complements the established Conbextra GP (general-purpose grout), Conbextra HF (high-flow) and Conbextra HS grades, with Conbextra EP120 as the solvent-free epoxy option for aggressive chemical or thin-section duty and Nitobond for bonding ancillaries. Against the wider Indian market it competes with Sika’s SikaGrout range, MBS (MYK/MBCC-lineage) construction grouts, Dr. Fixit’s grouting products, and STP/Pidilite anchoring and grout systems — all credible non-shrink cementitious grouts. The honest case for Sureflow 120 is consistency and durability: a closed factory blend with stabilised flow, no metallic iron, and oil/acid and freeze-thaw resistance, backed by Fosroc’s documentation and Space Arc Engineering’s distributor support. For chemically aggressive bunds or very thin, high-impact bedding, an epoxy grout remains the better technical choice; for the broad run of machinery and structural grouting in Delhi NCR and across India, Sureflow 120 is a sound, specification-friendly selection.
