Product Overview
Nitoflor FC140 is a two-component, solvent-free, pigmented epoxy resin floor coating for the protection and surface finishing of industrial and commercial concrete floors. Applied at 200 to 300 microns DFT per coat, Nitoflor FC140 creates a smooth, gloss or semi-gloss, hard-wearing epoxy surface over prepared concrete floors that is resistant to a wide range of chemicals, oils, and fuels encountered in industrial environments. The smooth, seamless epoxy surface is hygienic, easy to clean, and can be colour-coded for safety demarcation. Nitoflor FC140 is solvent-free, making it suitable for application in buildings that are occupied or have limited ventilation. It is compatible with Fosroc floor primers (including Nitoflor Hardtop Primer) and with broadcast anti-slip aggregate to create textured non-slip finishes where required. How many coats of Nitoflor FC140 are required?
A standard Nitoflor FC140 floor coating system typically consists of a primer coat (Nitoflor Hardtop Primer or similar) followed by two coats of FC140 at 200 to 300 microns each coat. The total system DFT should be a minimum of 400 microns to provide adequate protection. In heavily trafficked or more chemically aggressive areas, additional coats or a thicker self-levelling floor system may be more appropriate.
What substrate preparation is needed before applying Nitoflor FC140?
The concrete substrate must be mechanically prepared by shot blasting, scarifying, or diamond grinding to CSP 2 to 4 surface profile. The concrete must be sound, with compressive strength above 25 MPa, free of surface laitance, contamination, curing compounds, and previous coatings. Surface moisture content must be below 4% — check with a moisture meter before priming. Any defects, cracks, or damaged areas must be repaired with Renderoc or Nitoflor patch repair products before coating.
Can Nitoflor FC140 be applied in hot weather conditions common in North India?
Yes, but pot life and surface dry time are temperature-sensitive. At temperatures above 35 degrees C (common in North India from April to June), the pot life of mixed FC140 reduces significantly. Mix only the quantity that can be applied within the available pot life. Pre-cool the components before mixing, apply early morning or evening, and ensure adequate ventilation.
