What is it?

A single-component, water-based white acrylic polymer curing compound that forms a continuous membrane on fresh concrete to lock in mix water, and doubles as a surface sealer and dustproofer for floors and walls.

Where is it used?

High-rise slabs and columns, RCC floors, warehouse and factory floors, pavements and concrete walls where conventional ponding/wet curing is impractical or labour-intensive.

Why use it?

It eliminates continuous water curing, cutting labour and water consumption while improving cement hydration, reducing plastic-shrinkage cracking and leaving a dust-free, over-coatable surface.

How is it applied?

Stirred and applied by brush, roller or fine spray in a single uniform coat at 5.0 to 7.4 m2/litre on damp, bleed-free concrete; a second coat at 10 to 15 m2/litre is added when sealing/dustproofing is required.

About Fosroc Concure AB White

Fosroc Concure AB White is an acrylic polymer (acrylic emulsion) based, single-component, white-pigmented liquid curing compound from the Fosroc Concure range. When sprayed or brushed onto a freshly finished concrete surface it forms a continuous, non-penetrating film that acts as a temporary barrier to evaporation. By holding the mix water inside the slab during the critical early-hardening period, it allows cement hydration to proceed more completely, which translates directly into higher near-surface strength, lower permeability and far less risk of plastic-shrinkage and drying-shrinkage cracking. Unlike resin or wax grades that must be removed before finishing, the acrylic film in Concure AB White is designed to be left in place and over-coated, so it also performs as a permanent sealer and dustproofer for hardened concrete walls and floors. In the Indian market, where ambient temperatures and dry winds make traditional wet curing (ponding, wet hessian, sprinkling) hard to sustain round the clock, a membrane-forming compound of this type is a practical way to guarantee a consistent, controlled rate of cure on large slabs, vertical faces and inclined surfaces. Space Arc Engineering supplies Concure AB White as an authorised Fosroc distributor across Delhi NCR and Pan-India, in 20 litre and 235 litre packs, with technical guidance on coverage, over-coating and substrate readiness.

The technical insight

The performance of any membrane-forming curing compound is governed by its water-retention efficiency, measured to ASTM C156 as water lost from a sealed mortar specimen. Concure AB White is rated at a moisture loss of less than 0.55 kg/m2, comfortably within the ASTM C309 Type 2 (white-pigmented), Class A requirement it is certified to. The white pigment is functional rather than cosmetic: it reflects solar radiation, lowering the surface temperature of the curing slab and reducing the thermal-gradient and evaporation that drive early cracking, an advantage in hot Indian summers. Because it is an acrylic resin film (not wax or chlorinated rubber), it cures by water evaporation, becomes tack-free within about 3 hours at 23°C (ASTM C135), and chemically welcomes over-coating. The same resin chemistry that retains moisture also bonds to the laitance-free concrete, which is why Fosroc rates it as a self-curing primer system that accepts PVA/acrylic emulsion paints, bituminous emulsions, thin-section polymer-modified cement systems, and non-penetrating epoxy and polyurethane coatings without prior mechanical removal. The trade-off is that, being a thin acrylic membrane, it is not a wear coat: it is not engineered for heavy traffic or permanently immersed conditions, and an on-site bond test is always advised before a critical topcoat.

Where it is used

  • Curing freshly placed RCC slabs, columns and beams in high-rise and commercial construction to eliminate water curing
  • Curing and sealing industrial, warehouse and factory floors before they receive epoxy or PU coatings
  • Dustproofing existing concrete floors and walls in plants, basements and parking decks
  • Curing large pavements, hardstandings and external slabs where ponding is impractical
  • Sealing concrete to reduce surface permeability and improve abrasion resistance ahead of paint or floor finishes
  • Curing vertical and inclined concrete faces such as shear walls, retaining walls and ramps that cannot be ponded
  • Primer/curing membrane on screeds and toppings prior to decorative or protective overcoats

Key advantages

  • Water-based and eco-friendly – free from solvents, oils, waxes, chlorinated or saponifiable materials, so low odour and non-flammable
  • Eliminates continuous wet curing, saving water, labour and round-the-clock site supervision
  • High moisture retention (<0.55 kg/m2 to ASTM C156) improves cement hydration and reduces shrinkage cracking
  • White pigment reflects heat, lowering slab surface temperature in hot climates
  • Dual function – cures fresh concrete and also seals/dustproofs hardened concrete
  • Over-coatable – accepts acrylic, epoxy, PU, bituminous and emulsion paint systems without removal
  • Versatile single product for both freshly placed and existing concrete
  • Easy single-coat brush, roller or spray application reduces labour cost
  • Cleans up with water; spray gear flushed with water after use

Limitations & considerations

  • Not recommended for areas intended for heavy traffic or for permanently immersed conditions – it is a thin membrane, not a wear-resistant floor coating
  • Must be applied only within an ambient/surface temperature range of >5°C and <50°C
  • Must not be exposed to moving water or rain during application or before it is tack-free
  • Application must wait until bleed water has gone; applying over bleed water or laitance impairs film integrity and bond
  • Being white-pigmented, it changes surface appearance and is not suited where a clear/natural concrete finish is required
  • Bond to a specific subsequent finish should be confirmed by an on-site trial, as performance varies between finish types
  • Treated concrete should not be disturbed until it has gained enough strength to bear surface loads

Selection & best practice

Stir Concure AB White gently before use to ensure uniformity, but do not dilute. On fresh concrete, wait until all bleed water has disappeared and the surface is damp but not wet, then apply a single uniform coat by knapsack or motorised fine-spray (held to give an even mist), or by soft brush/wide roller, at 5.0 to 7.4 m2/litre with no overlaps or misses. Where the slab also has to be sealed and dustproofed, apply a second coat at 10 to 15 m2/litre once the first is touch-dry. Do not allow foot or plant traffic until the film is fully dry (about 3 hours at 23°C, longer in cool/humid conditions) and protect it from rain or running water until tack-free. Before any topcoat, confirm the surface is free of stains, oil and loose matter and carry out a small bond trial. Store sealed packs below 35°C out of direct sunlight, avoid freezing, and use within the 12-month shelf life.

Water-tank & wall construction

Curing vertical and inclined concrete faces such as retaining walls and ramps that cannot be water-cured, ahead of subsequent protective coatings (subject to on-site bond trial).

Frequently asked questions

Is Fosroc Concure AB White a curing compound or a sealer?
Both. It is primarily an ASTM C309 Type 2, Class A membrane-forming curing compound that retains moisture in fresh concrete, but because the acrylic film is left in place it also functions as a permanent sealer and dustproofer on hardened concrete floors and walls. A single coat at 5.0 to 7.4 m2/litre cures; a second coat at 10 to 15 m2/litre seals and dustproofs.
What is the coverage of Concure AB White?
For curing, apply one uniform coat at 5.0 to 7.4 m2/litre. When the surface also needs sealing and dustproofing, apply a second coat at 10 to 15 m2/litre. Actual coverage depends on surface texture and porosity, so allow for absorption on rough or open-textured concrete.
Can I apply paint or epoxy over Concure AB White?
Yes. The acrylic resin is formulated to be over-coated, and Fosroc lists compatibility with PVA/acrylic and acrylic co-polymer emulsion paints, bituminous emulsions, thin-section polymer-modified cement systems, non-penetrating epoxy coatings, polyurethane coatings and water/solvent-based acrylics. The surface must be clean and free of oil and loose matter, and an on-site bond trial is recommended before a critical topcoat.
How is Concure AB White different from Concure WB White and Concure A?
Within Fosroc’s Concure range, Concure WB White is the wax-based grade, Concure AB White is the acrylic-resin grade, and Concure LP90 is a resin-based grade. The acrylic AB White is chosen when you want a curing membrane that can be left in place and over-coated, rather than a wax film that is usually removed before finishing. Concure A is a related acrylic-type permanent curing compound.
What is the shelf life and how should it be stored?
Concure AB White has a minimum shelf life of 12 months when stored in sealed, airtight original containers below 35°C. Keep it out of direct sunlight, protect it from heat, and do not allow it to freeze. Do not use material that has evaporated, thickened or discoloured.
Can Concure AB White be used on heavy-traffic or water-retaining floors?
No. It is a thin curing/sealing membrane, not a wear coat, so it is not recommended for areas intended for heavy traffic or for permanently immersed conditions. For trafficked or immersed surfaces it should be over-coated with an appropriate Fosroc epoxy or PU floor or protective system after curing.

How we position Fosroc Concure AB White

Concure AB White sits in the mid-tier of Fosroc’s Concure curing range as the acrylic-resin, white, over-coatable option, between the wax-based Concure WB White (typically removed before finishing) and resin-based grades such as Concure LP90/Concure 90 for higher-efficiency curing. Choose AB White when you need both curing and a leave-in-place sealer/dustproofer; choose Concure WB White where a wax membrane is acceptable, or a higher-efficiency resin grade where ASTM C309 Type 1 Class B or premium efficiency is specified. Against competitor systems, it is comparable to Sika Antisol (Antisol-E/W) curing compounds, MYK Arment/MBS curing membranes, Dr. Fixit Concure (LW/WB) and STP (Shalimar) curing compounds; selection should be driven by the specified ASTM C309 type/class, whether the membrane must be over-coatable, and required coverage and moisture-retention figures. As an authorised Fosroc distributor, Space Arc Engineering supplies genuine Concure AB White with batch traceability and technical support across Delhi NCR and Pan-India, and can cross-recommend Fosroc epoxy/PU floor toppings and protective coatings where a wear-resistant or immersed-duty finish is needed over the cured slab.
