Fosroc Concure LP90
Polymer-based, spray-applied film-forming curing compound that seals fresh concrete against premature moisture loss for stronger, more durable, crack-resistant surfaces.
What is it?
A single-pack, polymer-resin-based liquid curing compound that dries to a continuous film on freshly placed concrete, trapping mix water so cement hydrates fully.
Where is it used?
Large-area concrete pours where ponding or wet hessian is impractical: highways, runways, RMC slabs, industrial floors, canal linings, bridge decks and precast yards.
Why use it?
Locks in moisture to achieve the 90%+ curing efficiency required by BS 7542, cutting plastic and drying shrinkage cracks, reducing surface permeability and producing a harder, dust-free finish without continuous water curing.
How is it applied?
Spray-applied as a single even coat with a knapsack or pressure sprayer over the finished concrete once surface bleed water has gone, at roughly 3.5 to 5.0 m per litre.
About Fosroc Concure LP90
Fosroc Concure LP90 is a ready-to-use, single-component concrete curing compound built around a film-forming polymer resin carried in a solvent base. The moment it is sprayed onto a freshly finished concrete surface it spreads as a continuous, non-penetrating liquid that dries within a short period into an unbroken membrane. That membrane is the working part of the product: it seals the capillary network at the concrete surface and dramatically slows the rate at which mix water can evaporate into the atmosphere.
Why that matters comes down to cement chemistry. Concrete does not gain strength by drying; it gains strength because cement particles react with water in a process called hydration that continues for days after placement. In the Indian climate, with high ambient temperatures, low humidity and drying winds across much of the year, freshly placed slabs lose surface moisture far faster than hydration can consume it. The result is a weak, dusty, permeable skin and a network of plastic-shrinkage and drying-shrinkage cracks. Traditional water curing using ponding, wet hessian or continuous sprinkling solves this but is labour-intensive, wastes large volumes of potable water, and is simply impractical over the vast surface areas of highways, runways and industrial floors.
Concure LP90 replaces that ongoing effort with a one-pass spray application. Independent of the weather, the dried film holds the concrete’s own water inside the slab so that hydration proceeds efficiently for the critical early days. Fosroc supplies the LP90 family in several grades. The base Concure LP90 is offered as a clear (straw) grade and a blue grade tinted with a fugitive dye that gives the applicator a visible guide to coverage and fades over time. The closely related Concure LP90M (and LP90M Standard) variant is an aluminised version that dries to a reflective silver film, adding solar-reflective benefit on slabs exposed to direct sun. Space Arc Engineering supplies the full LP90 range as an authorised Fosroc distributor across Delhi NCR and pan-India.
The technical insight
The benchmark for a curing membrane is BS 7542, which measures curing efficiency as the percentage reduction in water loss compared with an uncured control specimen. Concure LP90 is formulated to meet the 90% efficiency class, meaning a correctly applied single coat blocks at least nine-tenths of the moisture that would otherwise escape. Two practical factors govern whether that lab figure is achieved on site. First, timing: the compound must go down as soon as the surface bleed-water sheen has disappeared but while the concrete is still green. Spray too early and the film floats on standing water and breaks; spray too late and surface drying and micro-cracking have already begun. Second, continuity: the rated 3.5 to 5.0 m per litre spread rate assumes an unbroken film, so the slab must be covered in a uniform overlapping pass, not a thin scattered mist. The specific gravity of roughly 0.82 to 0.85 (slightly lower at 0.81 to 0.83 for the aluminised M grade) reflects the light solvent carrier, which is what lets the resin atomise cleanly and flash off quickly to leave the membrane behind. Because the film is solvent-borne and non-penetrating, it sits on the surface rather than soaking in, which is why it must be considered when bonded toppings, screeds, tile adhesives or coatings are to follow.
Where it is used
- Curing of highway and expressway concrete pavements (PQC/DLC layers)
- Airport runways, taxiways and aprons where large unbroken areas must be cured fast
- Ready-mix and in-situ industrial and warehouse floor slabs
- Bridge decks, flyover decks and elevated road structures
- Canal linings, reservoir floors and other large hydraulic concrete surfaces
- Precast concrete yards and segment casting
- Raft foundations and large mat pours in commercial and infrastructure projects
- Concrete road shoulders, hard standings and parking decks
Key advantages
- Achieves the 90%+ curing efficiency class of BS 7542 from a single spray coat
- Eliminates labour-intensive ponding, hessian and continuous water curing, saving water and manpower
- Spray application covers large areas quickly at roughly 3.5 to 5.0 m per litre
- Produces a harder, more durable, dust-free and less permeable concrete surface
- Reduces plastic-shrinkage and drying-shrinkage cracking in hot, dry and windy conditions
- Blue fugitive-dye and aluminised silver grades give clear visual coverage control on site
- Aluminised LP90M grade reflects solar radiation, reducing temperature gain on exposed slabs
- Ready to use single pack with no site mixing or dilution
Limitations & considerations
- Solvent-based film-former; ventilation and ignition-source control are needed and odour may be a concern in enclosed spaces
- The dried membrane can act as a bond-breaker, so it must be mechanically removed before applying toppings, screeds, tile adhesives, paints or coatings
- Curing efficiency depends heavily on correct timing and a continuous, uniform film; patchy or premature application reduces performance
- Not a substitute for water curing where structural specifications or client QA explicitly mandate wet curing
- Single-coat film offers limited long-term abrasion or chemical resistance; it is a curing aid, not a permanent protective coating
- Shelf life is limited (around six months) and the product must be kept sealed and away from heat
Selection & best practice
Apply Concure LP90 immediately after final finishing, the moment the surface bleed-water sheen has just disappeared but the concrete is still green; on vertical or formed faces, spray as soon as the formwork is struck. Use a clean knapsack or low-pressure spray with a fine fan nozzle and lay down a single continuous, overlapping coat at 3.5 to 5.0 m per litre, keeping the wand moving to avoid puddling. On exposed sun-facing slabs prefer the aluminised LP90M grade for added solar reflectance. Stir the container before use, work within the pot temperature limits, and never thin the product. Where a bonded screed, floor hardener, tile bed or coating is scheduled, plan to abrade or shot-blast the membrane off first, or specify a water-based or removable grade in agreement with the Fosroc technical team. Store drums sealed, upright and shaded, and use within the shelf life.

How we position Fosroc Concure LP90
Within Fosroc’s own range, Concure LP90 sits between the water-based Concure WB grades, which are preferred indoors or where solvent odour and over-coating are concerns, and the wax-based Concure series; LP90 and its aluminised LP90M variant are the workhorse choices for hot, exposed, large-area civil pours. Where a slab will later receive a bonded topping or coating, a removable or water-based curing grade is the better fit. Against competitor products, LP90 competes directly with Sika Antisol resin-based curing compounds, MC-Bauchemie curing membranes, Dr. Fixit and STP (Pidilite/STP) curing compounds, and BASF/Master Builders Solutions MasterKure resin-based cures. All target the same BS 7542 efficiency benchmark, so selection usually turns on grade availability, solar-reflective requirement, over-coating plans and local technical support rather than headline chemistry. As an authorised Fosroc distributor, Space Arc Engineering can cross-recommend the right grade, including water-based or wax alternatives, based on the slab’s exposure and follow-on finishes.
