About Master Builders Solutions Ucrete MF

Ucrete MF is the smooth-finish member of the Ucrete range — a polyurethane hybrid screed that has been protecting factory floors worldwide for over four decades, with many of the earliest installations still in service. Laid at 4 to 6 mm, it produces a dense, impervious, easy-to-clean surface intended for predominantly dry environments where chemical exposure is severe but standing water is not the norm. Unlike conventional epoxy coatings, it is a full-bodied screed: pre-weighed resin, hardener, filler and pigment components are mixed on site and trowelled to thickness, giving a monolithic floor with minimal joints.

For Indian plants, the practical appeal is uptime. Ucrete MF accepts foot traffic in 8 hours and vehicles in 24, and it can go down on 7-day-old concrete or 2-day-old polymer screeds — a genuine advantage on fast-track projects and monsoon-season refurbishments where substrates never fully dry. Space Arc Engineering supplies genuine Master Builders Solutions material and executes installation through trained applicator teams, since Ucrete is applied only by approved contractors. We support projects across Delhi NCR and pan-India, from single packing halls to multi-block pharma campuses.

The technical insight

The chemistry behind Ucrete is a water-based polyurethane resin that co-reacts with cementitious and aggregate components, curing into a matrix that behaves more like engineered concrete than a plastic coating. Two consequences matter on site. First, its coefficient of thermal expansion (3.6 x 10^-5 per degree C) sits close to that of concrete, so thermal cycling does not shear the bond line the way it can with rigid epoxies — the adhesion test actually fails in the concrete, not the screed. Second, the cured material combines high compressive strength (48-53 MPa) with a comparatively low elastic modulus, so impact energy is absorbed rather than cracking the floor; brittle debonding failures are essentially unknown with Ucrete. Zero water absorption and a microbiologically inert, non-tainting matrix complete the hygiene case.

Where it is used

  • Pharmaceutical production areas, clean rooms and laboratories
  • Dry food and beverage processing, including confectionery and biscuit lines
  • Electronic component manufacturing and assembly halls
  • Textile and film plants
  • Chemical plants and dry chemical handling areas
  • Packing halls and dispatch zones
  • Warehousing and raw-material storage
  • Refurbishment of damp or young concrete slabs on fast-track programmes

Key advantages

  • Exceptional chemical resistance — concentrated hydrochloric, nitric, phosphoric and sulphuric acids, organic acids, alkalis up to 50% sodium hydroxide, and solvents including methanol and xylene
  • Smooth, dense, easy-to-clean matt surface suited to hygiene-audited facilities
  • HACCP-accredited system; non-tainting from the end of mixing and microbiologically inert
  • Rapid return to service — foot traffic in 8 hours, vehicular traffic in 24
  • Tolerant of residual substrate moisture; installs on 7-day-old concrete without special primers
  • Resilient under impact and abrasion thanks to high strength with low elastic modulus
  • Very low VOC emissions — Indoor Air Comfort Gold, AgBB, French A+ and Finnish M1 compliant
  • Pre-weighed, batch-colour-matched polykits reduce site mixing errors

Limitations & considerations

  • Designed for predominantly dry areas — wet processing zones need a slip-resistant grade such as Ucrete DP or UD200 instead
  • Thermal limits depend on thickness: the 4 mm build is rated -15 to +60 degrees C, so hot-wash and steam-clean zones need 6 mm or a heavier Ucrete grade
  • UV exposure gradually yellows the floor, most visibly in light colours — it is an interior product
  • Installation is restricted to trained, approved applicators; it is not a general-contractor or DIY material
  • Substrate must be visibly dry with at least 1.5 MPa tensile pull-off strength, and epoxy surface DPMs must not be used beneath it
  • Some staining or discolouration can occur with certain chemicals if spillages are left standing

Selection & best practice

Get the substrate right first: sound concrete, visibly dry, minimum 1.5 MPa tensile pull-off strength, mechanically prepared to a clean open texture, with a functioning damp-proof membrane in the slab. Never introduce an epoxy surface DPM — it softens under heat and will take the floor with it. Prime with a cured scratch coat of Ucrete MF itself at 1 mm nominal thickness, then lay the body coat at 4 or 6 mm, budgeting 8-10 kg/m² at 4 mm and 12-14 kg/m² at 6 mm. Always mix full polykits — never split packs — and keep a steady laying gang so wet edges stay live. Reflect every movement joint in the substrate through the Ucrete and seal with a suitable sealant. Protect from traffic for 8 hours (foot) and 24 hours (vehicles).

Industry use cases

Pharmaceuticals

Granulation, dry blending, tableting and packing areas where a joint-minimal, chemically inert floor simplifies GMP cleaning validation and audit compliance.

Food & Confectionery

Chocolate, biscuit and dry-mix lines handling sugars, oils and organic acids — HACCP-accredited and non-tainting, so product flavour is never at risk.

Electronics & Precision Assembly

Component manufacture and assembly halls needing a smooth, non-dusting deck; the Ucrete MF AS variant adds static control where ESD limits apply.

Chemical Processing

Dry chemical handling and drum-storage bays exposed to concentrated acid and alkali splash that destroys ordinary epoxy floors within seasons.

Warehousing & Logistics

High-traffic aisles and dispatch zones where forklift abrasion and point impact demand a screed, not a coating — with only 24 hours of downtime.

Frequently asked questions

How is Ucrete MF different from Ucrete DP?
Ucrete MF is the smooth grade for predominantly dry areas where easy cleaning matters most. Ucrete DP carries a textured, slip-resistant profile for wet processing floors. If your process involves regular washdown or standing liquids, specify DP or UD200 instead.
Can it be laid on new or damp concrete?
Yes — this is one of Ucrete’s biggest advantages. It goes onto 7-day-old concrete or 2-day-old polymer screeds, and tolerates high residual moisture in older slabs without special primers, provided the structure has a functioning damp-proof membrane.
What temperatures will the floor withstand?
At 6 mm thickness it serves from -25 to +80 degrees C; at 4 mm the rating is -15 to +60 degrees C. Choose the 6 mm build wherever hot washing is part of the cleaning regime.
How much material do I need per square metre?
Plan on 8-10 kg/m² for a 4 mm floor and 12-14 kg/m² at 6 mm, plus the 1 mm Ucrete MF scratch coat. Space Arc can prepare a bill of quantities from your floor plan.
Can our in-house contractor install it?
No. Ucrete is installed only by trained, approved applicators — the warranty and the finish depend on it. Space Arc Engineering is an authorised applicator and handles supply and installation as a single responsibility.
Is it suitable for food-contact environments?
Yes. Ucrete systems are accredited for HACCP-based food safety programmes, are non-tainting from the end of mixing (verified by Campden testing), and carry the Indoor Air Comfort Gold label for very low VOC emissions.

How we position Master Builders Solutions Ucrete MF

Within the Ucrete family, MF is the dry-area smooth specialist. For wet processing and washdown zones, step across to Ucrete DP or UD200; for hot spillage, ovens and steam-cleaned floors, Ucrete HF60RT laid at heavier thickness; for foundry-grade impact, iron-filled Ucrete IF; for ESD-controlled electronics areas, Ucrete MF AS; and for coving and drainage details, Ucrete CS. Where the duty is lighter and budgets tighter, MasterTop epoxy and PU systems from the same stable are the sensible choice. Space Arc also supplies Sika and Fosroc flooring lines, so if your plant is standardised on another brand we can propose an equivalent PU-concrete system on merit.
