Master Builders Solutions Ucrete MT
A 4-6 mm lightly textured polyurethane concrete screed that gives wet processing areas dependable slip resistance without making daily wash-down a chore.
What is it?
A heavy-duty polyurethane concrete (PU hybrid cement) floor screed from the Master Builders Solutions Ucrete range, laid at 4-6 mm with a lightly textured finish.
Where is it used?
Wet and dry process floors in food and beverage plants, pharmaceutical units, chemical works and commercial kitchens where grip and hygiene both matter.
Why use it?
It combines the chemical, abrasion and thermal-shock resistance Ucrete is known for with a texture calibrated for safe footing that still cleans easily.
How is it applied?
Trowel-applied by trained applicators over primed, sound concrete as a pre-weighed multi-component kit, typically back in service within 16-24 hours.
About Master Builders Solutions Ucrete MT
Ucrete MT sits in the middle of the Ucrete polyurethane concrete family — the flooring technology developed under BASF’s Master Builders Solutions brand and now part of Sika. Laid at 4 to 6 mm, it is a dense, impervious screed built for production floors that are washed down daily, trafficked by trolleys and pallet jacks, and splashed with process chemicals, hot oils or CIP solutions. The “MT” finish is the practical compromise most wet-process plants actually need: enough texture to keep operators on their feet on a soapy floor, but not so aggressive that squeegees, scrubber-driers and brushes cannot get it genuinely clean.
Space Arc Engineering supplies Ucrete MT as pre-weighed multi-component kits and executes installation through trained applicator teams across Delhi NCR and pan-India. For dairies, breweries, meat and seafood processors, bakeries and pharma fill-finish areas, it delivers a seamless, joint-minimised floor with a documented service life that routinely outlasts epoxy alternatives in thermally and chemically loaded zones.
The technical insight
Polyurethane concrete chemistry is what separates Ucrete MT from conventional epoxy screeds. The polyol-isocyanate binder is blended with cement and graded aggregate, and the cementitious fraction consumes water during cure — which is why the system tolerates application on relatively young or damp concrete and shrugs off hot wash-down. The cured matrix has a coefficient of thermal expansion close to that of the concrete substrate, so when a 4-6 mm floor is hit with 80 °C water over a cold slab, the interfacial shear stays low and the screed does not delaminate the way rigid resin toppings can. Adhesion testing to EN 1542 produces failure in the concrete itself at over 2.0 N/mm², meaning the bond is stronger than the slab. The resin phase does not begin to soften until well above service temperatures, giving a stated working envelope of -25 °C to +80 °C at full thickness.
Where it is used
- Food and beverage processing and packing halls with daily wet cleaning
- Dairies, breweries and bottling plants exposed to CIP chemicals
- Meat, poultry and seafood processing areas with fats and blood spillage
- Pharmaceutical and personal-care production and filling areas
- Chemical and process plant floors handling acids, alkalis and solvents
- Commercial kitchens and institutional back-of-house service zones
- General manufacturing and engineering workshops with trolley traffic
- Cold rooms and chill stores operating down to -25 degrees C
Key advantages
- Withstands thermal shock from hot wash-down across a -25 to +80 degrees C service range
- Lightly textured surface holds wet PTV of 40-45 while remaining easy to scrub clean
- Very good resistance to concentrated acids, alkalis, fats, oils and cleaning chemicals
- Compressive strength around 53 N/mm2 carries heavy point loads and hard-wheeled traffic
- Dense, zero-water-absorption matrix resists bacterial and mould growth; HACCP-relevant hygiene credentials
- Bonds stronger than the substrate itself (greater than 2.0 N/mm2, concrete failure)
- Low-VOC, solvent-free system certified Indoor Air Comfort Gold to EN 16516
- Fast return to service – 16-24 hours normally, roughly 4 hours with accelerator
Limitations & considerations
- Costs more per square metre than epoxy screeds, so it is overspecified for dry, light-duty areas
- For sustained steam cleaning or severe thermal cycling, a thicker grade such as Ucrete UD200 or HF60RT is the correct choice, not MT
- Standard Ucrete shades are utilitarian and can mottle slightly; it is not a decorative finish
- Installation demands trained applicators, controlled substrate preparation and disciplined mixing – it is not a general-contractor DIY product
- Working time per mixed kit is short, so large pours need planned crew sizes and material staging
- Substrate must be sound, laitance-free concrete of adequate strength; weak screeds must be removed first
Selection & best practice
Success with Ucrete MT is decided before the first kit is mixed. Prepare the slab by captive shot blasting or scarifying to expose sound aggregate, and cut anchor grooves at all edges, drains and gullies so the screed terminates in a locked detail rather than a feather edge. Prime with Ucrete PSC at 0.2-0.4 kg/m2 and lay the wearing coat wet-on-tacky. Mix full kits only — never split components — and place at a consistent 4 mm (10-11 kg/m2) or 6 mm (13-14 kg/m2) using screed bars or sledges before closing with a trowel. Match drainage falls in the substrate, since a 4-6 mm topping cannot correct bad levels. In Indian summer conditions, schedule pours for early morning or night shifts to stay within pot life, and protect fresh work from water for the first 24 hours. Space Arc’s applicator teams handle detailing at coving, drains and doorway transitions, which is where industrial floors actually fail.

Industry use cases
Food & Beverage
Processing and packing halls in dairies, breweries and snack plants where floors see hot CIP fluids, fats and round-the-clock wash-down, and auditors expect a seamless, hygienic surface.
Pharmaceuticals
Production, filling and washing bays needing a low-VOC, joint-minimised floor that tolerates disinfectant regimes and supports GMP housekeeping without harbouring growth.
Chemical & Process Industry
Plant floors around reactors, dosing stations and drum-handling areas where spillage of acids, alkalis and solvents would strip an epoxy topping within seasons.
Commercial Kitchens & Hospitality
Hotel and institutional kitchens where hot oil, steam and detergent meet constant foot traffic – the light texture keeps staff safe on a wet floor that still mops clean.
Cold Chain & Warehousing
Chill stores and blast-adjacent corridors down to -25 degrees C where pallet-truck traffic and condensation defeat ordinary coatings.

How we position Master Builders Solutions Ucrete MT
Within the Ucrete family, MT is the wet-area workhorse: specify Ucrete MF where a smooth finish suits drier production, step up to Ucrete UD200 (6-9 mm) or HF60RT where steam cleaning and severe thermal cycling govern, and add Ucrete TC as a coloured top coat where appearance matters. For lighter-duty adjacent areas — corridors, packing stores, utility rooms — a Sika Sikafloor or Fosroc Nitoflor epoxy system from our range often makes better commercial sense than extending PU concrete everywhere. Space Arc engineers this zoning plant-by-plant so you pay for Ucrete only where the duty demands it.
