Fosroc Nitoflor EPU2000
A 2 mm self-smoothing epoxy-polyurethane floor topping that delivers a seamless, dust-free, easy-to-clean surface for pharma, food, electronics and clean-room facilities.
What is it?
A self-smoothing epoxy-polyurethane (EPU) resin floor topping laid at around 2 mm thickness over a primed concrete base to form a jointless, hygienic surface.
Where is it used?
Pharmaceutical and food-processing plants, hospital clean rooms, laboratories, electronics and switchgear assembly, showrooms and light-industrial dry-process areas across Delhi NCR and Pan-India.
Why use it?
It gives a seamless, pore-free finish that is dust-free, simple to clean and resistant to many industrial chemicals, so it suits facilities where hygiene and a smooth appearance matter.
How is it applied?
Supplied in pre-weighed packs; the primed substrate receives Nitoprime 25, then the mixed EPU2000 is poured and spread to self-level into an even monolithic film.
About Fosroc Nitoflor EPU2000
Fosroc Nitoflor EPU2000 is a self-smoothing epoxy-polyurethane floor topping from Fosroc’s high-technology Nitoflor flooring range. It is a factory-blended system of selected epoxy resins, curing agents and graded inert fillers that, once mixed and poured, flow out to form a continuous resin floor at roughly 1.6 to 2 mm thickness. Because the material levels under its own weight, it produces a smooth, jointless surface without the trowel marks and texture variation associated with hand-applied screeds.
The product sits in the flow-applied (“self-levelling”) family of the Nitoflor portfolio, alongside the purely epoxy Nitoflor SL series. What distinguishes EPU2000 is the polyurethane component blended with the epoxy, which gives the cured floor a tougher, slightly more forgiving film while retaining the clean, glossy aesthetic facilities managers expect from a resin floor. The system is designed as a complete build-up: the prepared concrete is first sealed with Nitoprime 25, a two-part epoxy primer supplied in matching pre-weighed packs, and the EPU2000 topping is then laid over it.
For Indian facilities, EPU2000 is positioned as a mid-build, premium-finish floor for areas that need to be visibly clean and genuinely hygienic rather than simply hard-wearing. It is widely specified in pharmaceutical manufacturing, food and beverage processing, hospital and laboratory clean rooms, electronics assembly and similar controlled environments where a dust-free, seamless, easily sanitised floor is a regulatory and operational requirement. Space Arc Engineering supplies and applies EPU2000 as an authorised Fosroc distributor and applicator, covering Delhi NCR and Pan-India projects.
The technical insight
The “EPU” designation reflects the hybrid chemistry: an epoxy backbone modified with polyurethane. Pure epoxy self-levellers are hard and chemically robust but can be brittle and prone to a slightly yellowed, glassy film; adding a PU component improves toughness and impact tolerance and keeps the finish cleaner-looking over time. This makes EPU2000 a sensible step up from a basic epoxy SL floor where the client wants both hygiene and a degree of resilience, but does not need the extreme thermal-shock and steam resistance of a heavy-duty PU-cement screed such as Nitoflor TF120 UB. Two specification details matter most in practice. First, the build is thin (nominally 2 mm), so it is a topping, not a screed — it follows and relies on the substrate beneath it, and the concrete base should have adequate strength (Fosroc’s flooring guidance recommends a substrate compressive strength of at least 25 MPa for resin floor treatments) and be properly prepared. Second, it is part-of-a-system: the Nitoprime 25 epoxy primer is integral to adhesion, and skipping or under-applying the primer is the single most common cause of debonding on site.
Where it is used
- Pharmaceutical manufacturing and packaging halls requiring GMP-grade hygienic floors
- Food and beverage processing, dairy and confectionery dry-process areas
- Hospital clean rooms, operation-theatre support areas and laboratories
- Electronics and switchgear assembly plants and instrument rooms
- Showrooms, display areas and light-industrial production floors
- Corridors, gowning rooms and finished-goods storage in controlled facilities
Key advantages
- Self-smoothing formulation flows to a seamless, level finish with minimal applicator effort
- Jointless, pore-free surface is dust-free and very easy to clean and sanitise
- Good resistance to abrasion from foot and light vehicular (trolley/pallet-truck) traffic
- Very good resistance to many industrial chemicals encountered in pharma and food plants
- Supplied in pre-weighed packs, reducing on-site mixing errors and speeding application
- Available in a wide range of colours for zoning, branding and a clean appearance
- Fast, neat installation lowers labour cost and downtime versus hand-trowelled screeds
Limitations & considerations
- A 2 mm topping, not a heavy screed — unsuitable for heavy forklift loads, point impact or thermal-shock duty (use a PU-cement screed instead)
- Performance depends on the substrate; concrete must be sound, dry and adequately strong (around 25 MPa minimum) before laying
- Must not be applied when temperature is below 10C or expected to fall below 10C within 24 hours
- Substrate moisture should typically be below 75% relative humidity; damp slabs need a moisture-tolerant primer or remediation
- Requires the Nitoprime 25 epoxy primer as part of the system — omitting it risks debonding
- Epoxy-based topping can gradually yellow or chalk under strong direct UV, so it is intended for interior use
- Self-levelling resin floors are smooth by nature; a slip-resistant aggregate broadcast should be specified for wet or sloped areas
Selection & best practice
Specify EPU2000 as a complete system on a properly prepared base. Mechanically prepare the concrete (captive-shot blasting or grinding) to a clean, sound, open-textured surface, repair defects, and confirm the slab is structurally adequate (around 25 MPa minimum) and dry (typically below 75% RH). Apply Nitoprime 25 epoxy primer first and allow it to become tack-free before laying the topping. Mix EPU2000 in its full pre-weighed packs — never split packs — pour and spread to a nominal 2 mm, and roller with a spiked roller to release entrained air. Do not apply below 10C or when temperatures may fall below 10C within 24 hours. Because it is a thin self-leveller, plan saw-cut/expansion joints to be carried through and detailed, and broadcast a fine aggregate into wet resin where slip resistance is needed. For exact per-pack coverage, primer consumption and pot-life figures, work from the current country-specific Fosroc India Technical Data Sheet for the project conditions; Space Arc Engineering can confirm quantities and provide application support.

How we position Fosroc Nitoflor EPU2000
Within the Fosroc Nitoflor range, EPU2000 occupies the middle ground of flow-applied resin floors: more resilient than a basic epoxy self-leveller such as Nitoflor SL2000/SL3000, but lighter-duty than heavy PU-cement screeds like Nitoflor SL3000 UT or Nitoflor TF120 UB, which are the right choice for forklift-heavy, wet-process, steam-cleaned or thermal-shock environments. Where a thicker, more abrasion-resistant epoxy screed is needed, Nitoflor TF5000 is the natural step up, and conductive areas would move to the Nitoflor SL Conductive/Dissipative system. Against competitor products, EPU2000 is comparable to self-smoothing epoxy/PU toppings in the Sika Sikafloor range (for example the Sikafloor self-levelling epoxy systems) and the MBCC/Master Builders Solutions MasterTop epoxy floors, while genuinely heavy-duty hygienic duty is the domain of PU-cement systems such as Ucrete. For most pharma, food and clean-room interiors that need a seamless, hygienic, good-looking floor without extreme mechanical or thermal demands, EPU2000 is a well-matched, cost-effective specification — and as an authorised Fosroc distributor and applicator, Space Arc Engineering can advise honestly on when a heavier screed is the better long-term investment.
