What is it?

A multi-component polyurethane flooring system from Master Builders Solutions, built up from an epoxy primer (MasterTop Primer 2), a flexible self-smoothing PU body coat (MasterTop BC 375 filled with SRA No. 1 quartz) and a pigmented PU seal coat (MasterTop TC 441).

Where is it used?

Production and assembly halls, loading bays, warehouses, hospitals, schools, exhibition halls, service corridors and aircraft hangars — anywhere a floor takes constant traffic and impact but still needs to look presentable.

Why use it?

Unlike rigid epoxy screeds, the elastomeric body coat absorbs impact and accommodates minor substrate movement, so the floor resists chipping and reflective cracking. The finish is matt, seamless and available smooth or slip-resistant.

How is it applied?

Onto blast-cleaned or ground concrete: prime, pour and trowel the self-smoothing body coat, spike-roll to release air, then seal with one to two coats of TC 441. Trained applicators only — Space Arc handles supply and installation.

About Master Builders Solutions MasterTop 1324

MasterTop 1324 sits in an interesting middle ground of resin flooring. Epoxy self-levellers give you hardness but very little give; rubber and vinyl give you comfort but wear quickly under trolleys and forklifts. This system uses polyurethane chemistry to hold both ends of that trade-off: the cured body coat reaches roughly 65 N/mm² in compression and Shore D 75 hardness, yet still stretches about 10% before breaking. In practice that means a floor that shrugs off dropped tools and pallet traffic instead of chipping, and one that tolerates the small movements every suspended slab or vibrating production floor goes through.

The system is laid seamless at 1.5 to 2.5 mm — no joints or weld lines even around columns — which matters as much for hygiene as for looks. Hospitals, pharma packing halls and food-adjacent areas get a surface with nowhere for dirt to lodge, while the light-stable TC 441 topcoat keeps colours from yellowing under lights or daylight. Slip resistance is tested to BS 7976-2:2002, and a profiled anti-skid finish can be built by broadcasting quartz into the body coat where ramps or wet zones demand it. Space Arc Engineering supplies the full system and executes application through trained crews across Delhi NCR and pan-India.

The technical insight

The reason MasterTop 1324 behaves differently from an epoxy screed comes down to the elastic modulus of the body coat. MasterTop BC 375 cures to a modulus of roughly 1,200 N/mm² (DIN 53457) — an order of magnitude softer than typical rigid epoxies — while still carrying around 30 N/mm² tensile and 32 N/mm² flexural strength. Impact energy that would concentrate at a point and fracture a brittle screed instead deforms the PU matrix momentarily and dissipates. The same elasticity lets the membrane bridge static hairline cracks in the substrate rather than telegraphing them through. The graded 0-0.3 mm SRA No. 1 quartz (15 kg per 30 kg unit of resin) bulks the body coat economically and adds wear resistance without killing the self-smoothing flow, and the epoxy primer beneath develops adhesion greater than the cohesive strength of good-quality concrete — so a properly prepared substrate fails before the bond does.

Where it is used

  • Production and assembly halls in engineering and automotive plants
  • Warehouses, loading bays and forklift/pallet-truck aisles
  • Hospitals, cleanrooms-adjacent corridors and pharma packing areas
  • Schools, colleges and other high-footfall institutional buildings
  • Exhibition halls and showrooms needing a decorative matt floor
  • Aircraft hangars and MRO bays
  • Suspended floors and mezzanines subject to vibration or deflection
  • Service corridors and back-of-house circulation routes

Key advantages

  • Elastomeric body coat absorbs impact — far less chipping than rigid epoxy screeds
  • Bridges static hairline cracks and tolerates minor substrate movement
  • Seamless, joint-free surface that is easy to clean and hygienic
  • Light-stable matt finish holds decorative colours without yellowing
  • Available in smooth or slip-resistant profile (tested to BS 7976-2:2002)
  • High mechanical performance: ~65 N/mm² compressive, Shore D 75, ~30 N/mm² tensile
  • Primer bond exceeds the cohesive strength of sound concrete
  • Suits concrete, steel and timber substrates with correct preparation

Limitations & considerations

  • Substrate moisture must not exceed 5% by weight — new or damp slabs need drying time or a moisture-tolerant primer strategy first
  • Substrate temperature must stay between +10°C and +35°C during application, which constrains scheduling in peak summer or cold stores
  • Full chemical resistance develops slowly — about 3 days at 15°C, 5 days at 5°C — and TC 441 takes roughly 48 hours before bearing loads
  • It bridges static cracks only; live structural cracks and movement joints must still be cut, carried through and sealed separately
  • At 1.5-2.5 mm it follows the slab profile — badly uneven concrete needs repair or levelling first, not a thicker pour
  • Application demands trained crews with spiked rollers and shoes; it is not a DIY or general-contractor product

Selection & best practice

Everything hinges on preparation. Captive shot-blast or diamond-grind the concrete to remove laitance, oil and anything friable; cut out weak patches and reinstate them with a compatible repair mortar before priming. Confirm moisture is under 5% by weight and substrate temperature is within +10°C to +35°C. Apply MasterTop Primer 2 at 0.15-0.3 kg/m² depending on porosity, and respect its recoat window (about 12 hours at 20°C). Mix BC 375 components A:B at 5:1 by weight for a full two minutes at 300-400 rpm, blending in 15 kg of SRA No. 1 quartz per 30 kg unit, then re-pot and remix briefly — the double-mix step prevents unmixed streaks. Spread with a pin screed or notched trowel to thickness and spike-roll within five minutes to release entrapped air. Allow about 12 hours at 20°C before light traffic, then seal with TC 441 at 0.10-0.12 kg/m² per coat for UV protection. On steel, blast to SA 2½ with a profile over 20 microns first.

Industry use cases

Pharma & Healthcare

Seamless, easily sanitised matt floors for hospital corridors, diagnostics areas and pharma secondary packing, where joint-free hygiene and steady trolley traffic both matter.

Automotive & Engineering

Assembly and production halls where dropped components, vibrating machinery and tow-cart traffic would chip a rigid epoxy — the elastomeric build absorbs the abuse.

Warehousing & Logistics

Loading bays, pallet-truck aisles and dispatch zones needing abrasion resistance plus a slip-resistant profiled option at ramps and dock edges.

Aviation & MRO

Hangar floors that take point loads from jacks and staging, with a light-stable finish that stays presentable under high-bay lighting.

Schools, exhibition halls and showrooms where the floor is part of the interior — decorative colour choice with genuinely industrial wear performance.

Frequently asked questions

How is MasterTop 1324 different from an epoxy self-levelling floor?
Chemistry and stiffness. Epoxy self-levellers are hard but brittle; this is a polyurethane system with about 10% elongation and a much lower modulus, so it absorbs impact and bridges static hairline cracks instead of chipping or mirroring them. Choose it where slabs vibrate, deflect or take impact; choose rigid epoxy where maximum point-load stiffness matters more.
What is the material consumption per square metre?
Budget 0.15-0.3 kg/m² of Primer 2, roughly 2.5-4.0 kg/m² of BC 375 body coat blended with SRA No. 1 quartz, and 0.10-0.12 kg/m² of TC 441 per seal coat. Actual figures depend on target thickness within the 1.5-2.5 mm range and substrate texture.
How soon can the floor take traffic?
The body coat accepts light foot traffic after about 12 hours at 20°C. The TC 441 topcoat is walkable in around 16 hours and load-bearing after roughly 48 hours. Full chemical resistance takes about 3 days at 15°C, so hold off wet processes and chemical exposure until then.
Can it be applied over old or cracked concrete?
Yes, with preparation. The slab must be shot-blast or ground clean, weak concrete cut out and reinstated with a repair mortar, and moisture verified below 5%. The system bridges fine static cracks, but live cracks and movement joints must be treated as joints and carried through the flooring.
Is a slip-resistant version available?
Yes. The standard build gives a smooth matt surface; a profiled finish is created by broadcasting quartz aggregate into the body coat and sealing over it. Slip resistance is tested to BS 7976-2:2002 — sensible for ramps, wet areas and loading docks.
Does the colour hold up under sunlight and factory lighting?
The TC 441 topcoat is light-stable and exists precisely to give UV protection to the body coat, so colours stay true in daylit halls and under high-bay lighting — a real advantage over standard epoxies, which tend to amber.

How we position Master Builders Solutions MasterTop 1324

Within the Master Builders Solutions flooring family, MasterTop 1324 is the flexible heavy-duty option. Where you need outright rigidity and a glossier economical build, look at the epoxy-based MasterTop self-levelling range such as MasterTop 1225. For food and beverage plants with hot-wash-downs, thermal shock or aggressive chemistry, step up to Ucrete polyurethane-concrete floors — MasterTop 1324 is not designed for that duty. Pair the installation with MasterEmaco repair mortars for slab reinstatement before coating. Space Arc also carries Sikafloor and Fosroc flooring systems, so if your spec is brand-agnostic we can price the closest equivalent build alongside this one.
