What is it?

A liquid, organic-based stabilizing admixture from MC-Bauchemie’s Centrament range that thickens the cement paste to keep aggregate and water in suspension in highly flowable, pumped, or lightweight concrete.

Where is it used?

Ready-mix and precast plants producing pumped concrete, lightweight and aerated concrete, lightweight masonry mortar, and any mix prone to bleeding or segregation across Delhi NCR and pan-India sites.

Why use it?

Cuts bleeding and segregation, keeps aggregate suspended during pumping and placement, and improves the homogeneity and surface finish of high-slump concrete without cutting into strength.

How is it applied?

Dosed at the batching plant at 2-50 g per kg of cement (roughly 0.2-5.0% by cement weight, fixed by trial mix), added after aggregate, cement and water are mixed and generally before air-entrainers or retarders.

About MC-Bauchemie Centrament Stabi

Centrament Stabi is MC-Bauchemie’s organic-based liquid stabilizer for ready-mix and precast concrete, built to solve a problem every RMC batcher in Delhi NCR knows well: high-slump, pump-primed concrete that looks fine in the drum but bleeds, segregates, or loses its aggregate suspension by the time it reaches the pour. Chemically it is an aqueous polymer solution — not a plasticizer, not a retarder — that thickens the cement paste just enough to hold water and fines in suspension without fighting the flowability a PCE superplasticizer has already built into the mix. It is supplied liquid, ready to dose, and complies with EN 934-2 as a Type T4 stabilizing admixture, manufactured under MC-Bauchemie’s ISO 9001 factory-controlled system.

For the Indian market, the case for a dedicated stabilizer is mostly logistics: long haul times from an RMC plant to a Gurugram or Noida high-rise, extended pump lines climbing 20-30 floors, and summer site temperatures that push contractors toward wetter mixes just to keep concrete workable long enough to place. All three conditions invite bleeding and segregation — visible laitance layers, pump-line blockages, and inconsistent surface finish on exposed concrete. Centrament Stabi is dosed directly at the batching plant alongside the mix’s existing plasticizer, and because it is chloride-free and free of corrosion-promoting constituents, it carries no penalty for reinforced structures. MC-Bauchemie also makes a powder grade in the same family, Centrament Stabi M 15, purpose-built for underwater and tremie concrete — worth knowing if a project needs both surface-finish stability and underwater placement.

The technical insight

The working chemistry is water-retention, not water-reduction. Centrament Stabi’s polymer backbone binds part of the mix water within the cement paste, raising its viscosity at rest so aggregate and fines stay suspended — broadly the same mechanism behind viscosity-modifying admixtures (VMAs) used globally in SCC design, though MC-Bauchemie classifies it under the European stabilizer category, EN 934-2: T4, rather than as a VMA. Because the effect is on viscosity rather than set time or air content, it layers cleanly on top of whatever superplasticizer is already dosed, and its density sits close to water at ca. 1.01 ± 0.02 kg/dm³, so it doesn’t meaningfully disturb batch water accounting. The recommended dosage band — 2-50 g per kg of cement, roughly 0.2-5.0% by mass — is wide because the right figure depends on how flowable the base mix already is and how porous the aggregate is, which is why MC-Bauchemie insists on trial batching rather than publishing one fixed number for every mix.

Where it is used

  • Pumped ready-mix concrete for high-rise columns, beams and slabs prone to long vertical pump runs
  • Self-compacting and highly flowable concrete where segregation resistance is critical
  • Lightweight and aerated (porous) lightweight concrete
  • Lightweight masonry mortar for low-dead-load block laying
  • Precast concrete elements needing a uniform, laitance-free surface finish
  • Mixes at risk of bleeding from site water additions or high-slump corrections
  • Underwater and tremie concrete placement, via the companion powder grade Centrament Stabi M 15
  • Foamed and cellular concrete where air-void stability during placement matters

Key advantages

  • Significantly reduces bleeding and sedimentation, giving a denser, more homogeneous concrete matrix
  • Chloride content below 0.1% and free of corrosion-promoting constituents — safe for reinforced concrete
  • Improves pumpability and reduces internal friction, cutting pump pressure and the risk of line blockages
  • Compatible with standard PCE superplasticizers and most cements used in Indian RMC plants
  • Liquid, ready-to-dose form — no premixing, straightforward to meter at the batching plant
  • EN 934-2 compliant with factory production control to DIN EN 934-2/6 and ISO 9001 manufacturing
  • Wide dosage band (2-50 g per kg cement) gives flexibility across different mix designs
  • Helps stabilize entrained air voids when used alongside foaming or air-entraining agents

Limitations & considerations

  • Not a substitute for correct mix design — over-dosing can excessively thicken the mix and hurt flow
  • Optimum dosage must be fixed by trial batches per mix; there is no universal one-size dosage
  • Formulated for lightweight, pumped and highly flowable concrete — not a general-purpose water reducer
  • Liquid form has a finite shelf life and needs frost-free, sealed storage to stay stable
  • Genuinely underwater or tremie placement needs the powder-form Stabi M 15 grade, not the liquid 508/520 grades
  • As an imported specialty admixture, pack sizes (180 kg drums / 1,000 kg IBC) and lead times suit RMC plant indents more than small retail buyers

Selection & best practice

Treat dosage as a variable, not a constant. Cement fineness, aggregate porosity and ambient temperature all shift how much stabilizer a mix needs, so run a trial batch at two or three dosages inside the 2-50 g/kg range before locking a plant recipe. Add Centrament Stabi after aggregate, cement and water have already been mixed, generally before any air-entrainer or retarder goes in, so it acts on a paste that has already formed. Store drums sealed and frost-free — like most aqueous polymer admixtures, freeze-thaw cycling or prolonged heat exposure can destabilize the solution before it reaches the mixer. And because it is a stability admixture, not a strength additive, don’t use it to mask an under-designed mix — if concrete is segregating badly, check aggregate grading and water-cement ratio first, then bring in Centrament Stabi to hold the corrected mix together through pumping and placement.

Industry use cases

High-rise RMC / pumped concrete (Gurugram, Noida)

Dosed into pump-primed column and slab concrete lifted through vertical pump lines on multi-storey towers, holding the mix together so it doesn’t bleed or block the line before reaching the pour.

Precast and architectural concrete

Used in highly flowable precast mixes to keep the surface homogeneous and free of laitance streaking on exposed, form-finished panels.

Lightweight block and aerated concrete units

Prevents lightweight aggregate from floating to the surface during compaction, keeping porous lightweight concrete and aerated block mixes uniform.

Lightweight masonry mortar plants

Stabilizes ready-mixed lightweight mortar for low-dead-load partition block laying, reducing water separation in the silo or mixer.

Underwater and tremie concreting

For genuinely underwater placement, MC-Bauchemie’s companion powder grade Centrament Stabi M 15 is the correct product in the family and is worth specifying alongside the liquid grade on marine or foundation projects.

Frequently asked questions

Is Centrament Stabi a substitute for our plasticizer or superplasticizer?
No. It is a stabilizer, not a water reducer — it is dosed alongside your existing PCE plasticizer to control bleeding and segregation, not instead of it.
Does it affect setting time or strength development?
It is not classified as a retarder or accelerator, so the effect on setting time is minimal at recommended dosage, but any change to a mix design should be confirmed with a trial batch before full-scale use.
What dosage should we start with for a typical Delhi NCR pumped RMC mix?
MC-Bauchemie’s published range is 2-50 g per kg of cement; most pumped ready-mix designs sit in the lower-to-mid part of that band, but the exact figure has to be fixed by trial casting with your actual cement and aggregate.
Is it safe to use in reinforced concrete?
Yes — it is free of corrosion-promoting constituents with chloride content held below 0.1% by mass, well within limits for RCC.
What pack sizes can Space Arc supply, and is it available off the shelf?
It comes in 180 kg drums and 1,000 kg IBC containers. As an imported specialty admixture it is typically supplied against RMC plant indents rather than held as small-pack retail stock, so lead time should be built into project planning.
How is this different from the powder stabilizer in the same range?
Centrament Stabi (the 508/520 liquid grades) is for pumped, lightweight and highly flowable concrete. MC-Bauchemie also makes Centrament Stabi M 15, a powder grade formulated specifically for underwater and tremie concrete — the two are not interchangeable.

How we position MC-Bauchemie Centrament Stabi

Within MC-Bauchemie’s own Centrament range, Stabi pairs naturally with Centrament Rapid 621 (a chloride-free hardening accelerator) on the same admixture shelf, and with whichever PCE superplasticizer is doing the actual water-reduction work — Stabi is a companion product, not a replacement for either. For specifiers comparing brands, Sika’s Stabilizer/ViscoCrete VMA line and BASF’s MasterMatrix range serve the same segregation-control role and are the products most often cross-quoted against Centrament Stabi on Indian RMC tenders. Fosroc’s India catalogue — Conplast, Auramix, Structuro — is strong on plasticizers and self-compacting concrete admixtures, but does not currently list a directly equivalent stabilizer/VMA product, so for genuine bleeding and segregation control on pumped or lightweight mixes, Centrament Stabi remains the more direct fit; Space Arc can quote it alongside Fosroc’s Conplast/Auramix range on projects that need both.
