MC-Bauchemie MC-Color E
A two-component epoxy floor paint that seals, dust-proofs and colours concrete without the cost of a thick self-levelling screed.
What is it?
A two-component, solvent-borne epoxy floor paint from MC-Bauchemie, applied as a thin-film protective coating for concrete and screed floors.
Where is it used?
Warehouse and storage floors, automotive and general workshops, parking decks, light factory bays, and steel surfaces needing a colour-sealed, dust-free finish.
Why use it?
It stops concrete dusting, resists oils and mild chemicals, and delivers a wipe-clean coloured floor at a fraction of the material cost of a self-levelling epoxy system.
How is it applied?
Prime the prepared substrate, then apply two coats by brush, short-nap roller or airless spray to build 200-400 microns dry film thickness.
About MC-Bauchemie MC-Color E
MC-Color E is MC-Bauchemie’s thin-film answer to a very common problem on Indian industrial floors: bare or power-floated concrete that keeps generating dust, stains under oil drips, and looks tired within months of the building being commissioned. Rather than committing to a 2-3 mm self-levelling epoxy, which many warehouse and workshop budgets cannot justify, MC-Color E lays down a tough coloured film only a few hundred microns thick that seals the surface pores, locks in the dust, and gives the slab a clean, uniform finish that is easy to sweep and wash. It is a two-component product: the pigmented epoxy base is mixed with its hardener on site, and once combined the two react chemically to cure into a hard, bonded coating rather than simply drying like a conventional paint.
For engineers and contractors, the appeal is the balance it strikes. You get genuine epoxy performance, real bond to concrete, real resistance to oil, grease, dilute acids, alkalis and detergents, without the pricing, thickness build-up or extended downtime of a heavy-duty flooring system. The trade-off is honest and worth stating up front: because the film is thin, MC-Color E is built for foot traffic, trolleys and light vehicles, not for the constant grinding of loaded forklift tyres or steel-wheeled traffic. Specified for the right duty, it is one of the most cost-effective ways to convert a dusty grey slab into a sealed, colour-coded working floor.
The technical insight
The performance of MC-Color E comes from the epoxy chemistry rather than film thickness. As a solvent-borne system, the resin is carried in a solvent that lowers viscosity at the point of application, so the coating wets the concrete thoroughly and the resin is drawn into the surface pores before the solvent flashes off. That penetration is what gives the film its mechanical key into the slab, so the coating stays bonded instead of peeling as a surface skin. Once the base and hardener are mixed, the epoxy groups and the amine hardener cross-link into a dense three-dimensional network. That cured matrix is chemically inert to oils, lubricants and dilute acids, alkalis and detergents, and it is impermeable enough to block the fine particles that a raw slab constantly sheds. Because it cures by reaction and not evaporation, the mixed material has a limited working window, roughly 45 to 60 minutes of pot life at 23 degrees C, and that window shortens noticeably as ambient temperature rises, which is the single most important thing to plan for on a warm Indian site.
Where it is used
- Dust-proofing and sealing bare or power-floated concrete warehouse floors
- Colour-sealing automotive service, repair and general engineering workshop bays
- Coating parking structure decks and internal ramps subject to foot and light-vehicle traffic
- Finishing light industrial and factory floors where wipe-clean hygiene is needed
- Protective thin-film coating on steel surfaces and plant structures
- Painting safety demarcation lines, walkways and zone markings in RAL colours
- Refreshing older screeds that have started dusting or staining
- Store rooms, packing halls and dispatch areas needing an easy-to-clean surface
Key advantages
- Economical thin-film alternative to thick self-levelling epoxy, with far lower material cost
- Seals concrete pores to eliminate surface dusting and airborne dust
- Good chemical resistance to oils, lubricants, dilute acids, alkalis and detergents
- Strong substrate wetting and penetration for a durable bond to concrete
- Full RAL colour range enables zoning, safety marking and clean uniform floors
- Fast, low-labour application by brush, roller or airless spray
- Smooth, wipe-clean finish that simplifies routine housekeeping
- Two-coat system builds a controlled, verifiable film thickness
Limitations & considerations
- Not suitable for heavy forklift, steel-wheel or high-abrasion traffic; the thin film wears through under such loads
- Being solvent-borne, it needs adequate ventilation and fire precautions during application and cure
- Short pot life of roughly 45-60 minutes at 23 degrees C, reducing further in hot weather
- Bond and durability depend heavily on correct surface preparation and a dry, sound substrate
- No inherent crack-bridging ability, so it will telegraph and reopen over active substrate cracks
Selection & best practice
Success with MC-Color E is decided almost entirely at the preparation stage. Mechanically prepare the concrete by grinding or shot-blasting to remove laitance, curing compounds and contamination, and open the surface pores. The slab must be structurally sound and dry, with residual moisture within the manufacturer’s limits, since trapped moisture is the most common cause of blistering and delamination. Prime with the appropriate MC-Bauchemie primer to consolidate the surface and improve adhesion of the coloured coat. Mix the base and hardener thoroughly in the correct ratio, scraping the sides and base of the container, and only mix what the team can lay within the pot life; on warm days, mix smaller batches. Apply two coats to build 200-400 microns total dry film thickness, respecting the overcoat interval between coats, and keep the area ventilated and free of ignition sources until the solvent has flashed off. Protect the fresh coating from traffic and water until it has cured.

Industry use cases
Warehousing & Logistics
Seals large storage and dispatch floors to stop concrete dusting that contaminates packed goods, giving a colour-coded, easily swept surface for trolley and pallet-truck movement.
Automotive Workshops
Provides an oil- and lubricant-resistant, wipe-clean floor for service bays and repair shops that would otherwise stain and dust under constant grease exposure.
Light Manufacturing
Delivers a hygienic, uniform coloured floor for assembly, packing and store areas where budgets do not justify a full self-levelling epoxy build.
Parking Structures
Coats decks and internal ramps handling foot traffic and light vehicles, sealing the concrete and allowing clear zone and directional marking in RAL colours.
General Engineering
Protects steel plant surfaces and light-duty factory floors with a thin, economical film that resists routine chemical and oil contact.

How we position MC-Bauchemie MC-Color E
MC-Color E sits at the economical, thin-film end of the industrial flooring range, so pair it correctly by duty. Within the MC-Bauchemie family, always specify it over the matching MC-Color primer for concrete, and step up to a self-levelling MC-DUR epoxy (such as the MC-DUR 1200 range) wherever the floor will see forklift or heavy mechanical traffic that a thin film cannot survive. Where an owner prefers a low-odour interior application, a solvent-free coating is the better route. Across our other brands we can offer equivalent dust-proofing and coating solutions from Fosroc and Sika, and we also supply the surface repair mortars and joint sealants needed to make a sound substrate before coating. As the authorised distributor and applicator, Space Arc can advise on the right system for the actual traffic, chemical exposure and downtime your project allows.
Fosroc Nitoflor FC150 — Choose the Fosroc FC150 when the floor needs a higher-build, solvent-free epoxy with stronger chemical and abrasion resistance for wet or aggressive industrial areas, rather than an economical thin-film seal.
