STP ShaliFloor Deck Coat
A two-component, low-solvent thixotropic epoxy that lays down a fine textured, anti-skid wearing surface on car park decks, ramps and workshop floors.
What is it?
A two-pack, low-solvent, pigmented epoxy textured coating (Component A natural grey, Component B reddish brown) that finishes a floor with a fine, uniform non-skid surface.
Where is it used?
Car park decks and ramps, maintenance workshops, garages, exhibition floors and as the final texture coat over broadcast multi-layer epoxy systems.
Why use it?
It gives concrete and screeds a slip-resistant, abrasion-tough, chemically durable wearing coat in a single seamless application, keeping vehicles and foot traffic safe on inclines.
How is it applied?
Prime with ShaliPrime 2E SF, mix the pre-weighed A and B packs, trowel-apply ShaliFloor Deck Coat and finish with a textured roller in one coat at 0.8-0.9 kg/m2.
About STP ShaliFloor Deck Coat
STP ShaliFloor Deck Coat is the wearing coat that engineers reach for when a floor has to grip as much as it has to protect. Made by STP Limited, it is a two-component, low-solvent, thixotropic epoxy resin loaded with a special additive that leaves behind a fine, uniform textured finish rather than a slick gloss. That texture is the whole point: on a multi-level car park deck, a ramp or a workshop floor slick with oil, a mirror-smooth coating becomes a hazard, while this eggshell-matt, non-skid surface holds tyres and boots steady. It cures to a hard, abrasion-resistant film that shrugs off the constant scuffing of vehicle traffic and stands up to a broad range of chemicals.
For a distributor and applicator working across Delhi NCR and pan-India, its appeal is practical. It arrives as a pre-weighed 10 kg composite pack (8.7 kg Component A plus 1.3 kg Component B), so there is no site guesswork on the 87:13 mix ratio. It goes down seamless and joint-free in a single trowel-plus-roller coat over a ShaliPrime 2E SF primer, and the level of anti-slip texture can be dialled up or down to suit the deck. On the deck of a busy commercial complex, that means a floor that is both safe underfoot and quick to turn around.
The technical insight
The performance comes from three properties working together. First, the thixotropic rheology: the resin holds its shape rather than flowing off camber, which is exactly what a car park deck and its ramps demand. Second, the built-in texturing additive, which raises a controlled non-skid profile at the surface so friction is engineered into the film rather than relying on a separate broadcast of grit. Third, a highly cross-linked epoxy backbone at roughly 91% solids by weight (84% by volume) that hardens to Shore D 70-75 and holds abrasion loss to just 85-100 mg over 1000 CS-10 cycles. The bond to concrete measures 1.5-1.8 N/mm2, and critically the failure occurs in the concrete itself, not at the interface, meaning the coating is anchored more strongly than the substrate it sits on. At around 300-500 micron dry film from a single 0.8-0.9 kg/m2 coat, that combination is what lets one thin layer survive years of point-loaded tyre contact.
Where it is used
- Multi-level car park decks and inclined ramps needing a slip-safe wearing surface
- Maintenance workshops and vehicle service bays exposed to oils and fuels
- Garage floors and internal ramps in commercial and residential complexes
- Exhibition halls and display areas requiring a durable, seamless finish
- Final texture coat over broadcast multi-layer epoxy flooring systems
- Anti-slip coating for concrete and cement screeds in trafficked zones
- Loading and turning areas where vehicles brake, steer and pivot
- External and semi-covered decks where a matt non-skid look is preferred
Key advantages
- Fine textured, anti-slip finish keeps vehicles and pedestrians secure on ramps and decks
- Variable texture levels let the same product suit gentle walkways or steep ramps
- High abrasion resistance (85-100 mg loss, ASTM D 4060) for long service under tyre traffic
- Good resistance to a wide range of chemicals, oils and fuels
- Seamless, joint-free film with no dirt-trapping grout lines
- Thixotropic body holds on inclines and vertical transitions without slumping
- Pre-weighed 10 kg pack removes on-site batching errors
- Strong bond to concrete (1.5-1.8 N/mm2, concrete-side failure)
Limitations & considerations
- Must be applied over a ShaliPrime 2E SF primer, not directly onto bare concrete
- Cannot be laid where rising or trapped moisture exists; substrate moisture must stay below 4%
- Application window is tight: +15 to +35 C, relative humidity under 85%
- A single 10 kg pack covers only about 11-12.5 m2 as a texture coat, so large decks need careful logistics
- Freshly applied film must be protected from water and condensation for at least 24 hours
- Heat resistance tops out at about 85 C; prolonged higher exposure dulls the finish
Selection & best practice
Success starts below the coating. Mechanically grind or shot-blast the deck, remove every trace of old coating, oil and laitance, and make good blow holes and level defects with an appropriate repair mortar before you prime. Confirm the substrate is below 4% moisture and that there is no rising damp, then apply a smooth, continuous ShaliPrime 2E SF coat at 0.35-0.40 kg/m2 and let it dry 6-12 hours. Mix Component B fully into Component A with a low-speed (300-400 rpm) stirrer for about two minutes, decant into a clean container and remix two minutes more, avoiding over-mixing that entrains air. Work within the 35-45 minute pot life: trowel the material at 0.8-0.9 kg/m2 and finish immediately with a textured roller for a uniform non-skid profile. Keep surface temperature stable and rising, never falling, to avoid pinholes, and protect the fresh floor from water for 24 hours. Open to foot traffic after 1 day; allow 7 days for full cure and chemical exposure. Clean tools at once with STP Thinner.

Multi-level decks and ramps in malls and office complexes get a slip-safe, matt wearing coat that copes with constant braking, steering and turning.
Automotive workshops
Service bays and maintenance areas keep grip and clean up easily despite spilled oils, fuels and de-icing salts.
Warehousing and logistics
Internal ramps and turning zones stay non-skid for forklifts and vehicles moving between levels.
Institutional and public buildings
Exhibition halls, basement parking and garage floors get a seamless, durable, low-maintenance finish.

How we position STP ShaliFloor Deck Coat
Within STP’s own flooring range, ShaliFloor Deck Coat is the anti-skid epoxy texture coat and pairs with its mandatory primer, STP ShaliPrime 2E SF. Where a project instead calls for a UV-stable, colour-fast car deck top coat, STP ShaliFloor 2PU FC (a low-VOC 2K polyurethane) is the better choice for exposed upper decks that see direct sunlight. Across our other brands, a specifier wanting a heavier-duty solvent-free chemical-resistant epoxy floor for wet industrial areas should look at Fosroc Nitoflor FC150, which covers workshops and car parks with anti-slip grains added. For traffic-deck waterproofing that must bridge fine cracks as well as resist wear, consider our Dr. Fixit or MC-Bauchemie deck membrane systems alongside the coating.
Fosroc Nitoflor FC150 — Choose the Fosroc option when the priority is a solvent-free, high-build epoxy with proven acid, alkali and solvent resistance for wet industrial areas, adding anti-slip grains where slip resistance is needed.
