STP ShaliFloor SL AS 3PU
A three-component, self-levelling polyurethane floor that drains static charge while giving you a seamless, chemical-resistant, clean-room-grade surface.
What is it?
A 3K (three-component) polyurethane self-levelling floor topping engineered to be static-dissipative, laid seamless at 3-5 mm over a primed concrete base.
Where is it used?
Pharma clean rooms, biotech and electronics manufacturing, battery and fuel-cell lines, chemical labs, operating theatres and any zone where static discharge is a risk.
Why use it?
It bleeds off electrostatic charge into an earthing grid (typically 10^6-10^9 ohm) while resisting solvents and pharma cleaning agents better and more flexibly than epoxy.
How is it applied?
Applied as a multi-layer system over ShaliPrime AS primer, with a copper earthing grid embedded, then a self-levelling anti-static base and top coat trowelled and pin-rolled to a monolithic finish.
About STP ShaliFloor SL AS 3PU
ShaliFloor SL AS 3PU is STP Limited’s three-component polyurethane self-levelling flooring system built for one specific job: keeping static electricity under control on a floor that also has to stay hygienic and chemically robust. Unlike a simple coating, it is a layered build-up. A conductive primer (ShaliPrime AS) goes down first, a copper earthing grid is laid into it and connected to the building earth, and then the self-levelling anti-static base and top coats are applied over the top. The result is a jointless, non-porous surface that carries stray charge away to earth instead of letting it accumulate on the floor, on equipment or on a person walking across it. STP typically quotes a dissipative resistance band in the region of 10^6 to 10^9 ohm, and the system is referenced against BS 2050 and ASTM D257, the standards specifiers use to prove a floor’s electrical behaviour.
For Indian engineers and contractors, the practical appeal is that the floor solves two problems at once. Being polyurethane rather than epoxy, it holds up to the aggressive cleaning regimes of pharma and biotech facilities, tolerates thermal movement better and is more forgiving of the micro-cracking that rigid epoxy floors can suffer. Being self-levelling, it flows out to a smooth 3-5 mm thickness with no joints for contaminants or bacteria to hide in, which is exactly what clean-room and GMP audits look for. Space Arc Engineering supplies ShaliFloor SL AS 3PU as an authorised STP distributor and can execute the full system, including the earthing network, across Delhi NCR and pan-India.
The technical insight
Static control is not a coating property you can spray on. It depends on giving charge a continuous, low-enough-resistance path to earth. That is why this is a system and not a single product. The conductive primer and the embedded copper grid form the drainage network; the self-levelling anti-static topping sits above it and is formulated with conductive fillers so that charge picked up at the walking surface travels down through the topping, into the grid and out to the building earth. The target is deliberately dissipative rather than fully conductive, roughly 10^6-10^9 ohm, because a floor that dissipates charge in a controlled, gradual way avoids the sudden discharge spikes a highly conductive floor can produce, which is what protects sensitive electronics and prevents ignition risk around solvents. The polyurethane chemistry is what lets it do this while staying flexible and chemically tough, so the anti-static performance is not sacrificed the first time the floor flexes or gets scrubbed with a harsh cleaning agent.
Where it is used
- Pharmaceutical and biopharma clean rooms with ESD and hygiene requirements
- Electronics, semiconductor and PCB assembly areas sensitive to static discharge
- Battery, cell and fuel-cell manufacturing lines
- Chemical and QC laboratories where static control and solvent resistance both matter
- Hospital operating theatres and sterile suites
- Flammable-solvent handling, blending and packing rooms where discharge is an ignition risk
- Server, telecom and control rooms needing a dissipative walking surface
- Areas fitted with raised access floors that still require a static-safe substrate finish
Key advantages
- Controlled static dissipation in the region of 10^6-10^9 ohm when correctly earthed
- Seamless, non-porous, monolithic finish that suits clean-room and GMP hygiene audits
- Polyurethane chemistry gives better flexibility and crack resistance than rigid epoxy
- Strong resistance to solvents and pharmaceutical cleaning agents
- Tolerates aggressive cleaning and steam-cleaning regimes
- Available in a range of colours for zoning and wayfinding
- Self-levelling flow produces a smooth, even surface with minimal trowel marks
- Referenced to recognised standards (BS 2050, ASTM D257) that specifiers can cite
Limitations & considerations
- Anti-static performance is only realised when the copper earthing grid is installed and correctly connected to the building earth; the topping alone will not dissipate charge
- It is a multi-coat system (primer, conductive grid, base, top coat), so it needs skilled applicators and is not a single-pack DIY floor
- Exposed areas can chalk or shift shade under UV; an aliphatic seal such as ShaliFloor 2PU TC is advised for colour retention
- Needs a sound, dry, contamination-free concrete base with an adequate DPM, or the whole build-up can debond
- Earth-continuity and surface-resistance readings should be verified on site after curing, which adds a commissioning step
- Higher installed cost than a plain epoxy or PU floor because of the earthing network and multiple layers
Selection & best practice
Start with the substrate: the concrete must be structurally sound, mechanically prepared (shot-blasting or grinding), dry and free of oil or laitance, with a working damp-proof membrane beneath the slab. Prime with ShaliPrime AS, then lay the copper earthing grid and bond it to the building earth before the topping goes down; plan at least one earth connection per zone as your electrical consultant specifies. Apply the self-levelling anti-static base and top coats within the primer’s recommended overcoat window, spike-roll to release trapped air, and maintain a stable temperature and low humidity during application and cure. Where the floor sees UV or you need long-term colour stability, finish with an aliphatic ShaliFloor 2PU TC seal at around 60-70 micron. Before handover, confirm surface resistance and earth continuity with a proper meter against your target band, and always work to the current STP technical data sheet for exact consumption, mix ratios and overcoat times.

How we position STP ShaliFloor SL AS 3PU
ShaliFloor SL AS 3PU is STP’s premium static-dissipative PU floor and sits at the top of the anti-static range. Where a lower-build or coating-grade static floor is enough, STP’s epoxy anti-static systems (the ShaliFloor ESD/AS epoxy family) are a lighter-duty alternative; where the priority is heavy-duty thermal and chemical abuse rather than ESD, STP’s cementitious polyurethane (PU screed / EPU) floors are the better fit. On exposed or UV-lit areas, pair it with STP’s aliphatic ShaliFloor 2PU TC top seal for colour stability. Within our wider brand shelf, if a project standardises on a different manufacturer, comparable static-dissipative PU/epoxy floors are available from Fosroc, Sika and MC-Bauchemie; our team can cross-map the specification either way. Talk to Space Arc for substrate assessment, earthing design input and the correct system selection.
