MC-Bauchemie MC-TechniFlow FK02
A retarding PCE superplasticizer engineered to keep ready-mix concrete workable through long hauls and slow pours, without giving up early strength.
What is it?
A chloride-free, PCE (polycarboxylate ether) combination-based retarding superplasticizer, supplied as a light brown liquid for ready-mix and precast concrete.
Where is it used?
RMC batching plants, precast concrete units, mass concreting, marine and other massive structures, and any pour needing extended slurry workability.
Why use it?
Combines high-range water reduction with built-in retardation, so concrete stays pumpable and bleed-free over longer transit and placement times while still gaining strong early and final strength.
How is it applied?
Dosed at 0.3-2.0% by weight of cementitious material, added with the mixing water (best after ~80% of water is in), never onto dry cement or aggregate, with dosage confirmed by site trial.
About MC-Bauchemie MC-TechniFlow FK02
MC-TechniFlow FK02 (previously sold as Muraplast FK 02) is MC-Bauchemie’s high-range water-reducing superplasticizer built specifically around retardation. Where a standard PCE superplasticizer is optimised purely for flow and early strength, FK02’s blended-PCE polymer system is tuned to hold that flow for longer — which matters enormously for ready-mix concrete moving through Delhi NCR, Gurugram or Noida traffic on a summer afternoon. A batch that leaves the plant workable can arrive at a congested high-rise site an hour later stiff and unpumpable if the admixture chemistry isn’t built for it. FK02 is formulated to push that window out, keeping the concrete homogenous, bleed-free and pumpable right through placement.
Chemically it sits in the polycarboxylate ether (PCE) family, chloride-free and non-toxic, and is dosed at 0.3-2.0% by weight of cementitious material depending on the workability, water reduction and retardation the mix design calls for. It’s supplied as a light brown liquid with a density of roughly 1.080 kg/dm³, in 230 kg barrels or 30 kg cans, and MC-Bauchemie explicitly positions it for RMC batching plants, precast units, mass concreting and marine or otherwise massive structures where slurry has to stay workable for an extended period. It isn’t a general-purpose plasticizer for small site pours — it’s a technical tool for producers who need engineered retardation on top of PCE-level water reduction, and who are prepared to run trial batches to lock in the right dosage for their specific cement and aggregate combination.
The technical insight
The “blended PCE” in FK02’s description is the real differentiator. Standard polycarboxylate ether superplasticizers work by steric hindrance — long polymer side-chains physically keep cement particles apart, which is what gives PCE admixtures their strong water reduction and flow compared to older sulphonated naphthalene or lignosulphonate chemistry. But a single PCE polymer type tends to lose that dispersion effect fairly quickly as cement hydration progresses, which is why plain PCE mixes can slump-lose fast in hot weather or long transit. MC-Bauchemie combines multiple PCE polymer structures in FK02 specifically to stagger that dispersion release — part of the polymer blend acts early, part continues releasing plasticizing effect later in the hydration process, which is what produces the flatter consistency-retention curve MC-Bauchemie documents against a standard PCE benchmark. In practice, that’s the difference between concrete that’s still workable when it reaches the pump after a Delhi NCR traffic delay, and concrete that has to be rejected or dosed with site-added superplasticizer (a practice that itself carries quality-control risk).
Where it is used
- Ready-mix concrete production for medium to higher-strength grades
- RMC batching plants supplying congested urban sites with long transit times
- Precast concrete manufacturing where consistent flow and finish matter
- Mass concreting for rafts, mat foundations and other large monolithic pours
- Marine and other massive structures requiring extended slurry retention
- Pumped concrete for high-rise construction across Delhi NCR and other metros
- Concrete exposed to aggressive agents where a dense, well-compacted matrix is needed
- Transit-mixer deliveries where on-site dosing or extended haul distances are unavoidable
Key advantages
- Chloride-free formulation, so it’s safe to use in reinforced and post-tensioned concrete without corrosion risk to rebar or tendons
- Non-toxic and non-inflammable, which simplifies handling, storage and transport at a batching plant
- High water reduction that improves the effective water-cement ratio, supporting both early and final compressive strength
- Retardation built into the same dose as the water reducer, so batching plants don’t need a separate retarder for long-haul RMC deliveries
- Produces homogenous, pumpable concrete that resists bleeding and segregation even at higher slump
- Documented slump-retention advantage over standard PCE superplasticizers, per MC-Bauchemie’s own consistency-development data
- Compatible with other MC-Bauchemie admixtures (accelerators, air-entrainers) for producers who need to fine-tune a mix design
- Works across medium to higher-strength concrete grades, giving RMC plants one admixture for a fairly wide product range
Limitations & considerations
- Overdosing — especially in hot weather or on longer retention pours — can push retardation too far and cause bleeding, segregation or delayed setting, so it isn’t a ‘more is safer’ admixture
- Must not be added to dry cement or aggregate; it only performs as intended when dosed into the mixing water
- Optimum dosage shifts with cement source, aggregate grading, temperature and site conditions, so it genuinely needs a trial batch rather than a fixed recipe carried over from another supplier’s cement
- Built for RMC/precast-scale batching accuracy — not really suited to small, hand-dosed site pours without proper metering
- It’s a superplasticizer only; it does no waterproofing, corrosion inhibition or structural repair work, so it has to be paired with the right curing and protection measures separately
- 12-month shelf life and storage sensitivity to heat, direct sun and frost mean older or improperly stored drums should be checked before use
Selection & best practice
Never add FK02 to dry cement or aggregate — it works best dosed into the mixing water, ideally after roughly 80% of the water has already gone in, and mixed long enough for the plasticizing effect to fully develop. Because cement source, aggregate grading, ambient temperature and site conditions all shift the optimum dose, run trial batches at your target dosage within the 0.3-2.0% window before committing to a production mix, and keep MC-Bauchemie’s technical team in the loop for anything outside routine RMC work. Store drums in original, unopened packaging away from direct sun, rain, frost and heat, and use within the 12-month shelf life. On site, pair it with a proper curing regime — MC-Bauchemie itself recommends its Emcoril curing compound range — since a retarded, high-slump mix loses surface moisture faster if curing is delayed.

Industry use cases
RMC / Ready-Mix Concrete
Batching plants supplying high-rise and infrastructure sites across Delhi NCR, where 60-90 minute transit through traffic makes slump retention a hard requirement, not a nice-to-have.
Precast Concrete
Precast units producing elements that need consistent flow into moulds, smooth finish and predictable strength gain without bleeding or segregation.
Mass Concreting
Raft foundations, mat slabs and other large monolithic pours where retarding the set helps avoid cold joints across a long, continuous placement.
Marine & Infrastructure
Massive or marine structures where slurry has to stay workable over extended placement periods and the concrete needs resistance to aggressive exposure conditions.
High-Rise Pumped Concrete
Vertical pumping on tall structures, where FK02’s flow and retention support pumpability without the compaction effort a stiffer mix would demand.

How we position MC-Bauchemie MC-TechniFlow FK02
Within MC-Bauchemie’s own admixture range on Space Arc, FK02 sits as the retardation-focused, high-range option: Centrament Flow 100 covers standard flowable-concrete needs without the extended retardation, Centrament N and Centrament N BV are the everyday normal-range plasticizers for routine RMC work, and Centrament Retard K 33 is the choice when a job needs straightforward set retardation without PCE-level water reduction. FK02 is the product to reach for specifically when a mix needs both — strong water reduction and engineered slump retention — in one dose. For specifiers or RMC plants already standardised on Fosroc’s admixture line, or working to a spec that names Fosroc by brand, Auramix 400 is a genuine like-for-like PCE alternative built for similar self-compacting and extended-workability applications; the choice between the two usually comes down to existing plant relationships, IS/ASTM documentation requirements and site-specific trial results rather than any major chemistry gap.
Fosroc Auramix 400 — Specifiers already standardised on Fosroc, or running IS:9103/ASTM C494 Type G compliance documentation, may prefer Auramix 400 — a comparable PCE superplasticizer built for self-compacting and pumped concrete with extended workability retention.
