Space Arc Engineering, an Authorized Project Distributor for STP Limited, supplies ShaliProtek® 2E MIO 40 — a two-component high-build polyamide-cured coating from STP Limited, pigmented with micaceous iron oxide (MIO). MIO flakes create a lamellar barrier in the coating film, extending the moisture diffusion path to the steel substrate. Formerly known as ShaliPoxy MIO.

Is 2E MIO 40 a primer or intermediate coat?
Intermediate coat — applied over zinc-rich or epoxy primer, before PU or epoxy topcoat. Not a primer.
Why is MIO used in intermediate coats?
MIO provides lamellar barrier — forces moisture to take a longer path, dramatically extending the time for corrosion to reach the steel under damaged areas.
