What is it?

A three-component (resin, hardener, coloured filler) epoxy tile joint filler from STP, formerly sold as Epoxy Tile Grout, engineered to replace cement grout where chemicals, hygiene and traffic matter.

Where is it used?

Chemical plant floors, food and pharma facilities, hospital and laboratory areas, commercial kitchens, swimming pools and any tiled surface needing a non-porous, easy-clean joint.

Why use it?

It gives a dense, non-shrink joint that resists acids, alkalis and staining, stays hygienic because it does not absorb moisture, and supports tile edges against spalling under wheeled traffic.

How is it applied?

Mix Parts A and B, blend in the Part C filler to a stiff paste, pack the clean joints full with a rubber float, strike off the excess and sponge-clean the tile face before the epoxy sets.

About STP ShaliTile Grout E

STP ShaliTile Grout E is the epoxy answer to a problem that cement grout cannot solve: tiled floors that are washed constantly, walked and wheeled over, or exposed to spillage from chemicals, oils and food acids. Cement joints are porous, so they soak up moisture, harbour bacteria, stain, and crumble at the edges under trolley wheels. This three-component system, supplied as a resin (Part A), a hardener (Part B) and a colour-matched filler powder (Part C), cures into a hard, dense, closed matrix that behaves completely differently. Once set, the joint is effectively non-absorbent, wipes clean, holds its colour and shrugs off the aggressive cleaning regimes that industrial and healthcare floors demand.

The product carries the “moisture insensitive” tag for a practical reason. On real sites, tile joints are rarely bone dry, and many epoxy grouts blush or fail to cure properly in damp conditions. ShaliTile Grout E is formulated to be tolerant of residual moisture during grouting, which makes it far more forgiving in wet processing areas, wash-down zones and pool surrounds than a standard epoxy. Because the cured grout is rigid and bonds tightly to the tile arris, it also reinforces the vulnerable edge of every tile, reducing the chipping and spalling that ordinarily starts at the joint and works its way across a floor. As an authorised STP distributor and applicator across Delhi NCR and pan-India, Space Arc supplies the material with the shade selection and site guidance needed to get it in correctly the first time.

The technical insight

The performance comes from the chemistry of a fully reacted epoxy. Parts A and B are a resin and an amine-type hardener that, once mixed, cross-link into a thermoset polymer with almost no interconnected porosity. Part C, a graded inert filler and colour pack, is dispersed through that matrix to build body, control shrinkage and give the finished shade. Because the network is chemically bonded rather than water-set like cement, there is no free lime to be attacked and very little capillary structure for liquids to penetrate — that is precisely why the joint resists acids, alkalis, salts and staining, and why it stays hygienic in food and pharma settings. The trade-off is that the reaction is a race against time: once A, B and C are combined the mix has a limited working window before it stiffens, so it must be placed and cleaned off the tile face while still fresh. Cured hardness is what gives the anti-spalling edge support, and the moisture-insensitive formulation lets that cure proceed reliably even when the joints are not perfectly dry.

Where it is used

  • Chemical process plant floors where tiled surfaces face acid, alkali and solvent spillage
  • Food and beverage processing units, dairies and commercial kitchens needing hygienic, wash-down joints
  • Hospitals, laboratories and pharmaceutical clean areas where non-porous, bacteria-resistant joints are specified
  • Swimming pool tiling, decks and surrounds subject to constant water contact and pool chemicals
  • Warehouse and industrial tiled floors carrying trolley, pallet-truck and forklift traffic
  • Ceramic, vitrified and quarry tile joints on both floors and walls in wet or corrosive environments
  • Toilets, wet rooms and utility areas that demand a stain-resistant, easy-to-clean grout
  • Replacement grouting where cement joints have eroded, stained or failed under chemical attack

Key advantages

  • Non-porous, closed epoxy matrix that resists water absorption, staining and bacterial growth
  • High resistance to a broad range of acids, alkalis, salts and cleaning chemicals
  • Moisture insensitive, so it can be grouted reliably in damp and wet-area conditions
  • Hard, rigid joint that supports tile edges and reduces spalling under wheeled traffic
  • Hygienic, easy-to-clean surface suited to food, pharma and healthcare compliance
  • Colour-fast filler pack gives a consistent finished shade that does not fade or wash out
  • Clearly superior to cement grout in chemical and continuously wet environments
  • Convenient factory-proportioned three-part kit that removes site guesswork on ratios

Limitations & considerations

  • Limited working time once mixed — the whole batch must be placed and cleaned before it sets
  • Excess grout and haze must be sponged off the tile face while fresh; cured epoxy is very hard to remove
  • More expensive and more labour-intensive to apply than ordinary cementitious tile grout
  • Being rigid, it is not a substitute for a movement or expansion joint sealant
  • Uncured resin and hardener can irritate skin and eyes and filler dust should not be inhaled — PPE is required
  • Full chemical and traffic resistance is only reached after the epoxy has properly cured

Selection & best practice

Start with clean, dry-to-damp joints raked to a uniform depth and free of dust, tile spacers and loose debris; do not clean the tiles with acidic cleaners beforehand. Mix only what the crew can place within the working window: blend Parts A and B fully, then add Part C and mix to a stiff, uniform paste. Work the grout into the joints with a hard rubber float held diagonally so every joint is packed solid with no voids, then strike off the surplus. Begin cleaning the tile face with a damp sponge and clean water within a few minutes of placing, changing water often, and finish by dragging a clean towel to lift residue before any haze hardens. Keep fresh joints off foot and wheeled traffic until the epoxy has cured, protect the work in cold weather where curing slows, and wear gloves and eye protection throughout. Always confirm the tile is suitable and, on large or polished-porcelain areas, test-clean a small section first.

Industry use cases

Food & Beverage Processing

Tiled production floors and wash-down bays get a non-porous, acid-resistant joint that meets hygiene audits and survives daily caustic and hot-water cleaning.

Pharmaceutical & Healthcare

Laboratories, clean rooms and hospital wet areas gain bacteria-resistant, easy-to-sanitise joints that will not soak up spillage or harbour contamination.

Chemical & Industrial Plants

Floors exposed to acid, alkali and solvent spillage keep sound joints, while the rigid grout protects tile edges from forklift and trolley spalling.

Frequently asked questions

How is ShaliTile Grout E different from ordinary cement tile grout?
Cement grout is porous, so it absorbs water, stains, harbours bacteria and crumbles under chemical attack and wheeled traffic. ShaliTile Grout E cures into a dense, non-porous epoxy joint that resists acids, alkalis and staining, stays hygienic and reinforces tile edges — which is why it is specified for industrial, food, pharma and pool floors rather than a normal cement joint.
Why is it called moisture insensitive, and can I grout damp joints?
Many epoxy grouts blush or cure poorly if the joints are damp. ShaliTile Grout E is formulated to tolerate residual moisture during grouting, so it is far more forgiving in wet-area, wash-down and pool applications. It still performs best on joints that are clean and not flooded, but it does not demand the bone-dry conditions a standard epoxy would.
What pack sizes and colours does it come in?
It is supplied as a factory-proportioned three-part kit, typically in a 5 kg pack, with a smaller 1 kg (one-fifth) unit also available. The standard shade stocked is white via the Part C colour-pack filler. Speak to Space Arc for current shade availability before you place an order.
What joints and tiles is it suitable for?
It is designed for ceramic, vitrified, quarry tile and stone joints on both floors and walls, in environments where chemical resistance, hygiene or heavy traffic matter. It is a joint filler between tiles, not a movement-joint sealant, so genuine expansion and movement joints should still be treated with a flexible sealant.
How long before the floor can be used after grouting?
As a three-part epoxy it has a limited working time once mixed and must be placed and cleaned off the tile while fresh. Curing is temperature dependent, so keep fresh joints off traffic until the grout has hardened — allow longer in cold conditions where the reaction slows. Full chemical and traffic resistance develops once the epoxy is properly cured.
Do you supply and apply it, and where?
Yes. Space Arc is an authorised STP distributor and applicator covering Delhi NCR and pan-India. We can supply the material with shade selection and application guidance, or arrange trained applicators for larger industrial and hygiene-critical floors so the grout goes in and gets cleaned off correctly the first time.

How we position STP ShaliTile Grout E

Within the STP ShaliTile range, ShaliTile Grout E is the chemical- and hygiene-grade epoxy option; where a project only needs a decorative, everyday joint on domestic or dry-area tiling, the cement-based ShaliTile Grout is the lower-cost choice, so specify the epoxy only where chemicals, wet processing or heavy traffic justify it. For fixing the tiles themselves, pair it with an STP ShaliTile tile adhesive rather than sand-cement. On projects standardised around other brands we stock, the equivalent chemical-resistant epoxy tile grouts are Sika’s SikaCeram / epoxy grout line and Dr. Fixit’s tile-grout range, and where an epoxy injection or equipment-base grout is needed instead of a tile joint filler, STP’s own ShaliGrout EP and ShaliGrout EI systems are the correct products. Talk to Space Arc if you need help matching the grout to the tile, the exposure and the relevant hygiene or chemical-resistance specification.
