What is it?

The antistatic member of the textured Ucrete DP polyurethane concrete range — a multi-layer, water-based polyurethane cement hybrid floor built over an earthed copper-tape grid, holding resistance to ground below 1 x 10^6 ohm.

Where is it used?

Electronics plants and data centres, pharmaceutical production, defence estates, and chemical or solvent-handling process areas — wet or dry — where an uncontrolled static discharge could damage components or ignite vapours and dusts.

Why use it?

One floor delivers verified ESD control to IEC 61340, R12 wet slip resistance, 54 N/mm2 compressive strength and Ucrete-grade resistance to aggressive chemicals, impact and heat — no trade-off between static safety and arduous duty.

How is it applied?

Installed only by trained, licensed applicators: copper earthing tape at up to 10 m spacing, Ucrete BC 6 AS base at 10-12 kg/m2, Ucrete F 20 AS broadcast at 5 kg/m2, sealed with Ucrete TC — and back in service in roughly 24 hours.

About Master Builders Solutions Ucrete DP AS

Ucrete DP AS is the static-dissipative version of Ucrete DP, the defined-profile heavy-duty polyurethane concrete floor from the Master Builders Solutions stable (developed under BASF Construction Chemicals and now manufactured within the Sika group, where the current India data sheet is issued as Sika Ucrete DP20 AS). The system is a water-based polyurethane cement hybrid laid in three coordinated layers — a BC 6 AS base coat, an F 20 AS antistatic broadcast and a TC top coat — over a copper-tape earthing grid bonded into the floor itself. The result behaves like standard Ucrete under punishment from forklifts, hot spillage and aggressive chemicals, but adds a measured, certifiable path to earth: resistance to ground below 1 x 10^6 ohm and body voltage generation under 100 V.

Space Arc Engineering supplies Ucrete DP AS across Delhi NCR and pan-India as an authorised project distributor, and coordinates installation through licensed Ucrete applicators — a condition of the system, not a preference. For an ESD floor this matters more than for most finishes: the earthing layout has to be agreed with your electrical contractor before a single pack is mixed, and the finished slab has to prove its resistance readings at handover. We manage that sequence, from substrate assessment through post-cure ESD verification, so consultants get documented compliance rather than a promise.

The technical insight

An ordinary resin floor is an insulator, so every trolley wheel and rubber sole generates triboelectric charge that has nowhere to go — until it finds a sensitive circuit board or a solvent vapour cloud. Ucrete DP AS solves this structurally rather than with a sacrificial coating. Conductive additives are distributed through the base and broadcast layers, forming a continuous electrical network through the full thickness of the floor. That network terminates at a grid of copper tapes — laid at a maximum of 10 m between strips — which is bonded to the building earth. Charge therefore drains away as fast as it is generated: measured resistance to ground stays below 1 x 10^6 ohm (EN 1081 and IEC 61340-4-1), and a person walking the floor accumulates less than 100 V of body voltage (IEC 61340-4-5). Because conductivity is built into the polyurethane cement matrix, not painted on top, it survives the abrasion, thermal cycling and chemical attack that would strip a conductive lacquer within months. The same dense, impermeable matrix delivers 54 N/mm2 compressive strength, a Bfl-s1 fire classification and bond to concrete stronger than the concrete itself.

Where it is used

  • Electronics manufacturing, SMT assembly lines and test areas handling ESD-sensitive components
  • Data centres and server halls where floor-generated static threatens hardware
  • Pharmaceutical production, granulation and filling suites where solvents and fine powders coexist
  • Defence estates, ordnance and munitions handling buildings requiring certified static control
  • Solvent stores, drum-decanting and flammable-liquid dispensing rooms
  • Chemical processing plants combining aggressive spillage with explosion-hazard zoning
  • Powder milling, blending and spray-drying areas in food and beverage plants where combustible dust accumulates

Key advantages

  • Certified static control: resistance to ground below 1 x 10^6 ohm (EN 1081, IEC 61340-4-1) and body voltage under 100 V (IEC 61340-4-5)
  • R12 slip rating (DIN 51130) with wet pendulum values of 45-55 (EN 13036-4) — static safety without sacrificing footing in wet process areas
  • Heavy-duty mechanicals: 54 N/mm2 compressive and 14 N/mm2 flexural strength, with adhesion above 2.0 N/mm2 ending in concrete failure
  • Programme-friendly: applies to 7-day-old concrete or 3-day-old polymer screed without special primers, and returns to service in about 24 hours
  • Impermeable to liquids and resistant to bacterial and mould growth, with HACCP suitability and Halal certification for regulated plants
  • Low-emission and non-tainting from the end of mixing — holds Indoor Air Comfort Gold certification to EN 16516
  • Bfl-s1 reaction-to-fire classification (EN 13501-1) alongside very good resistance to heat, impact and aggressive chemicals
  • Eleven standard colours from grey and cream through red, green and blue for zoning and demarcation

Limitations & considerations

  • Installation is restricted to trained, licensed Ucrete applicators — this is not a supply-only or in-house-labour product
  • Application window is +12 to +30 degrees C for both substrate and ambient air, which needs planning in NCR peak summer or unheated winter sheds
  • The R12 textured profile holds soiling more than a smooth floor; disciplined mechanised cleaning is needed to preserve both hygiene and ESD readings
  • Measured ESD performance is influenced by floor cleanliness, footwear, humidity and test equipment — periodic re-verification should be budgeted
  • Finish is industrial and matt with a defined colour palette; it is not a decorative or high-gloss floor
  • It costs more than conductive epoxy or ESD vinyl — justified where heavy traffic, chemicals or thermal shock would destroy those systems, not for light-duty rooms

Selection & best practice

Get the earthing design settled first: agree the copper-tape layout (maximum 10 m between strips) and the connection points to the building earth with the electrical contractor before mobilising. Prepare the substrate mechanically — captive shot-blasting or diamond grinding to remove laitance and expose sound concrete; the slab can be as young as 7 days (or a 3-day-old polymer screed), one of Ucrete’s genuine programme advantages. Hold substrate and ambient temperatures between +12 and +30 degrees C throughout application. Lay the copper tape grid, then apply Ucrete BC 6 AS base coat at 10-12 kg/m2, broadcast Ucrete F 20 AS at 5 kg/m2 into the wet base, and seal with Ucrete TC at 0.7-1.2 kg/m2 once cured. Always mix full packs — part-mixing shifts both the chemistry and the conductivity. Terminate day joints and detail drainage falls, coving and movement joints per the specification. After roughly 24 hours the floor can carry traffic; before handover, test resistance-to-ground at the agreed grid of points and record the readings as the compliance baseline for future audits.

Industry use cases

Electronics & Data Centres

Assembly floors, SMT lines and server halls where walking-generated static must stay below component damage thresholds — body voltage under 100 V keeps handling areas within typical ESD programme limits.

Pharmaceuticals

Granulation, solvent-based coating and powder-filling suites where static is both a product-quality and ignition risk, and where the impermeable, mould-resistant matrix supports GMP cleaning regimes.

Defence & Ordnance

Propellant, explosives and munitions handling buildings on defence estates, where certifiable resistance-to-ground readings are a mandated part of facility acceptance.

Chemical & Solvent Handling

Drum stores, decanting bays and processing rooms in explosion-hazard areas — the floor removes the static ignition source while shrugging off the acids and solvents being handled.

Food & Beverage

Flour milling, powder blending and spray-drying zones where combustible dust meets wet-process cleaning — R12 slip resistance and HACCP suitability cover both hazards at once.

Frequently asked questions

How is Ucrete DP AS different from standard Ucrete DP?
Mechanically they are siblings — same defined-profile texture, similar strengths and chemical resistance. DP AS adds a conductive network through the base and broadcast layers plus a copper-tape earthing grid, giving measured resistance to ground below 1 x 10^6 ohm. Standard DP is an insulating floor; DP AS is specified where static discharge itself is the hazard.
Which ESD standards does it comply with?
Resistance to ground is tested below 1 x 10^6 ohm to both EN 1081 and IEC 61340-4-1, body voltage generation is under 100 V and person-to-earth resistance under 35 Mohm to IEC 61340-4-5. These are the parameters most electronics and defence specifications call up, and they are verified on the finished floor, not just claimed from the lab.
How is the floor actually earthed on site?
Copper tapes are laid onto the prepared substrate at a maximum of 10 m between strips and connected to designated building earth points, then the antistatic layers are built over them. The earthing layout is agreed with your electrical contractor before installation — we coordinate this as part of the package.
Can it go onto new concrete, and how much downtime should we plan?
Yes — DP AS can be applied to 7-day-old concrete or a 3-day-old polymer screed without special primers, which regularly saves weeks on new-build programmes. On the other end, the finished floor can return to service in roughly 24 hours, so shutdown windows stay short.
Will cleaning and traffic degrade the antistatic performance?
Conductivity is built through the body of the floor, not applied as a surface lacquer, so normal wear does not strip it. Readings are, however, influenced by floor cleanliness, humidity and footwear — keep the R12 texture properly cleaned and re-verify resistance periodically as part of your ESD programme.
When should we choose Ucrete MF AS instead of DP AS?
MF AS is the smooth-finish antistatic Ucrete, suited to drier areas like electronics assembly where easy cleaning outranks wet grip. DP AS carries an R12 profile for wet or greasy process floors. If your area sees washdowns, oils or spillage underfoot, specify DP AS; if it is dry and cleanliness-critical, MF AS is usually the better fit.

How we position Master Builders Solutions Ucrete DP AS

Ucrete DP AS sits at the top of the antistatic flooring hierarchy: specify it where ESD control must coexist with heavy traffic, chemical attack, thermal shock or wet processing. Within the same family, Space Arc also supplies standard Ucrete DP where static control is not required, Ucrete MF AS and MF40 AS where a smooth antistatic finish suits drier electronics or pharma areas, and Ucrete TC as the system top coat. Since Ucrete now sits within the Sika group, we can also propose conductive Sikafloor epoxy systems where the duty is light enough that polyurethane concrete would be over-specification — an honest saving we will flag rather than hide. For the surrounding works, our Fosroc and Sika ranges cover the joint sealants, coving mortars and concrete repair products that a compliant ESD floor package typically needs around it.
