Asian Paints SmartCare SmartCare AkrylMax
Asian Paints’ paintable, odourless acrylic sealant for the frame gaps, switchboard cutouts and masonry joints every Delhi NCR site needs closed before the final coat goes on.
What is it?
A one-part, water-based acrylic emulsion sealant that cures into a flexible, paintable rubber-like seal for joints 4-25 mm wide.
Where is it used?
Window/door frame perimeters, switchboard and conduit gaps, masonry and brickwork joints, skirting boards, and ceiling-wall junctions, interior and exterior.
Why use it?
It’s odourless enough for occupied interiors, non-corrosive on aluminium frames, and — unlike most silicones — takes ordinary water-based paint straight over the top.
How is it applied?
Gun it into a clean, dry, masked joint, tool it smooth within ~5 minutes before it skins over, then let it cure 3-4 days before top-coating.
About Asian Paints SmartCare SmartCare AkrylMax
SmartCare AkrylMax is Asian Paints’ one-part, water-based acrylic sealant for the everyday joints every Delhi NCR site collects — the gap between a window frame and the plastered wall, a switchboard cutout, a hairline masonry crack. Supplied in a standard 280 ml cartridge that fits any sealant gun, it does what most silicones won’t: once cured, it takes ordinary water-based wall paint straight over the top, so the seal disappears into the wall colour instead of sitting there as a visible bead. For contractors handing over a unit with a matched paint finish, that’s usually the deciding factor over a clear or grey silicone.
It’s an emulsion-based sealant (density 1.58 g/ml) that skins over in about five minutes at room conditions but needs three to four days to cure through a 3-5 mm bead at 25-27°C — longer in Delhi’s monsoon humidity or winter fog. It carries an ISO 11600 F-7.5P rating: a low-modulus sealant built for joints moving up to roughly 7.5% of their width, which suits a window frame or masonry hairline comfortably but stops well short of a genuine structural expansion joint. Rated joint width is 4-25 mm, and it ships only in white.
The technical insight
The number worth remembering is F-7.5P. “F” means low-modulus — soft enough to tool cleanly and flex without cracking the paint film over it — and 7.5P caps design movement at 7.5% of joint width, so a 10 mm joint shouldn’t move more than about 0.75 mm either way. That’s fine for plastered masonry and frame joints under normal thermal cycling, but it’s not a structural expansion-joint sealant. And skin-over (5 minutes) isn’t cure: full strength through a 3-5 mm bead takes 3-4 days at 25-27°C, and painting before that is the most common cause of a cracked topcoat.
Where it is used
- Perimeter sealing between window/door frames and masonry before painting
- Switchboard, conduit and electrical-box gap filling in plastered walls
- Masonry, brickwork and skirting-board joint sealing
- Butt joints on painted wood or anodised aluminium frames
- Ceiling-to-wall junctions prone to hairline cracking
- General crack and gap filling ahead of a paint job
- Touch-up sealing during repaint and renovation cycles
Key advantages
- Fully paintable — the joint blends into the wall colour instead of showing a bead
- Water-based and odourless, practical for occupied interiors
- Non-corrosive on aluminium and other metal frames
- Easy manual tooling with just a sealant gun and a wet finger
- ±7.5% movement capability, adequate for frame and masonry joints
- Familiar Asian Paints brand, easy to pair with an existing SmartCare spec
- No added lead, mercury or chromium; non-flammable
Limitations & considerations
- Not for continuous water immersion or permanently wet surfaces
- Won’t bond reliably to PE, PP, PTFE or bituminous surfaces
- White only — coloured or clear-joint work needs a different sealant
- Modest movement rating (F-7.5P) next to true expansion-joint sealants
- 3-4 day cure and a 5-hour rain-free window make monsoon scheduling tight
Selection & best practice
Prime porous substrates before applying — diluted AkrylMax itself, or Decoprime indoors / Exterior Primer outdoors — and prime again before top-coating; skipping this is the usual cause of adhesion failure. Mask both sides of the joint, tool it within the ~5-minute skin-over window, and give butt joints their second coat only after 6 hours. Hold off on rain exposure and final painting until cure is complete — 3-4 days per 3-5 mm depth at 25-27°C, longer in humid weather.

Industry use cases
Residential handover
Sealing window and door frame perimeters before the final coat so the finish reads as one continuous colour.
Electrical/MEP finishing
Filling switchboard and conduit cutouts in plastered walls ahead of painting.
Renovation and repainting
Re-sealing opened-up masonry and skirting joints as prep work before a repaint cycle.
Light-commercial interiors
Sealing ceiling-wall junctions where a visible sealant line isn’t acceptable to the design brief.

How we position Asian Paints SmartCare SmartCare AkrylMax
Within the SmartCare range, AkrylMax handles the ordinary dry-side joint — frames, switchboards, masonry. For sanitary and wet-area joints where continuous moisture rules AkrylMax out, SmartCare Xtremoseal neutral silicone is the in-brand swap, with SmartCare Repair Polymer or Textured Crack Filler as the usual crack-prep companions before sealing. Where a joint genuinely sits in permanent water contact — expansion joints in tanks, STPs or reservoirs — that’s beyond any acrylic sealant’s design; Space Arc also stocks Fosroc Nitoseal MS600, a one-part MS polymer sealant built for exactly those immersed, movement-heavy joints, and it’s the natural step up once AkrylMax’s F-7.5P rating and no-immersion caveat rule it out. As an authorised SmartCare distributor and applicator, Space Arc supplies and applies both lines on the joint’s real exposure, not brand loyalty.
Fosroc Nitoseal MS600 — Specify Nitoseal MS600 instead when the joint sits in continuous water contact — a water tank, reservoir or sewage structure — since AkrylMax’s acrylic emulsion chemistry explicitly rules out permanent immersion.
