Master Builders Solutions MB GLEN series
PCE-based high-range water reducers from Master Builders Solutions for flowable, durable concrete, supplied and site-supported by Space Arc across Delhi NCR.
What is it?
MB GLEN (MasterGlenium) is Master Builders Solutions’ modified-polymeric-ether high-range superplasticizer family, led in India by MasterGlenium SKY 8940, a ready-to-use liquid dosed into fresh concrete at the batching plant.
Where is it used?
RMC batching plants, precast and prestressed yards, and metro or highway pours needing high-performance, pumpable or self-compacting concrete across Delhi NCR and pan-India projects.
Why use it?
It cuts mixing water sharply at low dosage, so concrete gains higher strength and durability without losing flow, while staying chloride-free and safe for reinforced and prestressed steel.
How is it applied?
Added into the mixing water at the batching plant, never onto dry cement, at 300-1200 ml per 100 kg cementitious material, with a 60-second minimum mix cycle and dosage set via job trial mixes.
About Master Builders Solutions MB GLEN series
Under the old BASF Construction Chemicals naming, Glenium was the brand that brought polycarboxylate-ether chemistry into mainstream Indian concreting, carrying through via MBCC Group into today’s Master Builders Solutions India Private Limited. On Delhi NCR sites, engineers still shorten Master Builders Solutions to “MB”, and MB GLEN has become shorthand for the Glenium-based superplasticizer family Space Arc distributes. The chemistry sets it apart from older naphthalene- or melamine-sulphonate plasticizers: long polymer side chains add a steric barrier between cement grains on top of the usual electrostatic repulsion, letting concrete flow at a lower water-cement ratio for the same slump.
That matters beyond a lab sheet. Delhi summers push site concrete past the 25°C benchmark in the technical data, so workability retention and retarder pairing matter as much as raw water reduction. NCR developers are also leaning harder on fly ash and GGBFS replacement, and MB GLEN is documented compatible with exactly those blends. Space Arc supplies MasterGlenium SKY 8940 alongside its wider Master Builders Solutions range plus batching-lab support, so a site doesn’t have to solve dosage, retarder pairing and curing separately for every pour.
The technical insight
The gap versus conventional Indian-market plasticizers is mechanism, not marketing. Naphthalene and melamine formaldehyde types disperse cement purely through electrostatic repulsion. MB GLEN’s polymeric ether does that too, but its long side chains add steric hindrance, a physical spacing effect layered over the electrostatic one, reaching the same workability at a lower water-cement ratio. Verified data: relative density 1.08 ± 0.02 at 25°C, solids not less than 38% by weight, pH above 6, chloride ion content below 0.2%, workability retention over 45 minutes at 25°C. It holds IS 9103:1999, IS 2645:2003, ASTM C494 Type F&G, and EN 934-2 (T3.1/3.2) certification, and is compatible with the MasterPozzolith and MasterSet series, pairing with MasterMatrix 2 as a viscosity-modifier for self-compacting mixes.
Where it is used
- Ready-mix concrete for commercial and infrastructure clients
- High-durability concrete for marine and industrial structures
- Precast/prestressed elements needing rapid strength for demoulding
- Self-compacting concrete with a viscosity-modifying agent
- Fly ash, GGBFS and microsilica blended concrete
- Fast-track construction needing high early strength
- Mass pours and rafts needing low permeability, shrinkage control
- Reinforced and post-tensioned structures needing chloride-free dosing
Key advantages
- Sharp water reduction at low dosage lifts early and ultimate strength
- Chloride-free, non-corrosive, safe for RCC and prestressed steel
- Workability window over 45 minutes at 25°C cuts slump-loss rejections
- Works well with fly ash, GGBFS and microsilica blended mixes
- Triple-standard compliance (IS, ASTM, EN) suits institutional projects
- Improves E-modulus, steel bond and carbonation resistance
- Reduces shrinkage and creep versus conventional plasticized mixes
- Space Arc’s batching-lab support helps fix the right local dosage
Limitations & considerations
- No universal dosage; each cement/aggregate combination needs its own trial mix
- Overdosing risks delayed setting and bleeding, demanding batching discipline
- Must go in with the mixing water, never onto dry cement or aggregate
- Cannot be freely combined with other admixtures without technical sign-off
- Performance is temperature-sensitive; Delhi summers often need a retarder
- Site storage needs cover and temperatures above +5°C, unlike ordinary plasticizers
Selection & best practice
Run a job-specific trial mix first; the 300-1200 ml per 100 kg range is only a starting point. Add it once 50-70% of mixing water is in, with at least a 60-second mix cycle. In peak summer, pair it with MasterSet RT55 retarder rather than over-dosing. Store drums under cover, above +5°C, and never add a second untested admixture without sign-off.

How we position Master Builders Solutions MB GLEN series
Within Space Arc’s Master Builders Solutions range, MB GLEN pairs with MasterSet RT55 for hot-weather workability, MasterMatrix 2 for self-compacting concrete, and curing products like MasterKure and MasterLife SRA on the same pour. Specifiers often benchmark it against Fosroc’s Auramix 400, a genuinely comparable PCE-based superplasticizer worth trial-mixing side by side. For simpler, cost-driven RMC work, Fosroc’s SNF-based Conplast SP430 remains a common lower-tier substitute, though it won’t match MB GLEN’s water-reduction ceiling on demanding specifications.
Fosroc Auramix 400 — Specifiers wanting a second PCE-based high-range superplasticizer to benchmark against MB GLEN in trial mixes, particularly for pumped or self-compacting concrete, often shortlist Fosroc’s Auramix 400 alongside it.
