Space Arc Engineering, an Authorized Project Distributor for STP Limited, supplies ShaliPrime® ZnSl — a two-component moisture-cured solvent-based zinc-rich ethyl silicate primer from STP Limited for protection of steel against severe corrosive environments. Zinc silicate primers provide inorganic (mineral-based) binder with zinc cathodic protection — superior to organic binders in fire resistance and high-temperature environments.

What is the advantage of zinc silicate over epoxy zinc-rich primers?
Zinc silicate uses an inorganic binder which is heat-resistant and weldable through the primer. Epoxy zinc-rich has organic binder — good chemical resistance but not thermally resistant to welding.
Does ZnSl require blast cleaning?
Yes — zinc-rich primers require near-white blast cleaning (Sa 2.5 minimum) for the zinc metal-to-steel electrical contact needed for cathodic protection.
