What is it?

A factory-blended, single-component cementitious precision grout that only needs on-site water. It flows freely, resists shrinkage through controlled expansion, and cures to high strength for load-bearing gaps.

Where is it used?

Under machine base plates, bridge bearings, turbine and compressor foundations, precast column-beam joints, crane rails and wind-tower base plates where full contact and zero settlement matter.

Why use it?

It fills the entire cavity without air pockets, keeps its volume as it sets, and develops the compressive strength needed to carry static and dynamic loads reliably.

How is it applied?

Mixed with a measured quantity of clean water using a slow-speed drill, left to release air, then poured continuously from one side into a formed cavity and moist-cured.

About Sika SikaGrout-214 IN

SikaGrout-214 IN is Sika India’s general-purpose precision grout, supplied as a ready-to-mix dry powder in 25 kg bags. On site you add only clean water, so there is no batching of separate cement, sand and additives and far less scope for the mix-ratio errors that cause grout failures. Once mixed it behaves as a self-levelling, pourable slurry that finds its way under base plates and into narrow annular gaps, filling voids that a hand-packed mortar would leave behind. As it stiffens, built-in expanding agents produce a small, controlled volume gain that offsets the natural plastic settlement of a cementitious mix, so the hardened grout stays in intimate contact with both the steel it supports and the concrete beneath it.

For engineers and contractors across Delhi NCR and the rest of India, that combination of easy site handling and dependable performance is what makes it a routine specification for foundation and bearing work. The grout reaches roughly 60 MPa at 28 days, is chloride-free so it will not initiate corrosion in embedded reinforcement or anchor bolts, and generates relatively low heat as it cures, which reduces the risk of early thermal cracking in thicker pours. Space Arc Engineering supplies SikaGrout-214 IN as an authorised Sika distributor and applicator, with technical guidance on cavity preparation, water dosage and curing for each site.

The technical insight

The performance of any precision grout comes down to one thing: staying in full contact with the surfaces it is meant to load. An ordinary cement-sand mortar shrinks as it loses water and cures, pulling away from the underside of a base plate and leaving thin voids that concentrate stress and let a machine rock under vibration. SikaGrout-214 IN counters this with a dosed expanding system that generates a slight positive volume change while the grout is still plastic, compensating for that settlement so the set grout bears against the plate across its whole footprint. The pre-blended, graded formulation also lets the grout flow at a high consistency without the aggregate segregating or the mix bleeding, which is why a single-side pour can travel across a wide base plate and push air out ahead of it rather than trapping it. The result is a dense, uniform bed that transfers both static dead loads and cyclic dynamic loads from equipment into the foundation without the drumminess or progressive loosening that voided grout produces.

Where it is used

  • Grouting steel and machine base plates onto concrete foundations
  • Bedding bridge bearings and structural support pads
  • Filling foundations under turbines, generators, compressors and pumps
  • Anchoring holding-down bolts, dowels and starter bars into pockets
  • Grouting precast column-to-foundation and beam-column connection joints
  • Base-plate grouting for wind-turbine towers and tall equipment
  • Grouting crane rails and runway beam supports
  • Filling cavities, gaps and voids in structural concrete

Key advantages

  • Supplied ready-to-mix, so only clean water is added on site with no separate batching
  • Self-levelling, pourable flow reaches under base plates and fills narrow gaps completely
  • Controlled expansion offsets plastic settlement and keeps the grout in full contact
  • Develops high compressive strength, around 60 MPa at 28 days, for load-bearing duty
  • Chloride-free, so it is safe against corrosion of embedded steel and anchor bolts
  • Lower heat of hydration reduces the risk of thermal cracking in deeper pours
  • Handles both static and dynamic machine loads without voids or drumminess
  • Consistent factory-blended quality removes on-site mix-ratio variability

Limitations & considerations

  • Neat grout is limited to a defined pour thickness per lift; deep or wide cavities need graded aggregate extension or staged pours
  • It is a rigid cementitious grout, not a flexible or chemical-resistant epoxy grout for aggressive or high-vibration duty
  • Performance depends on accurate water dosage; over-watering reduces strength and causes bleeding
  • The cavity, base plate and formwork must be clean, saturated-surface-dry and leak-tight before pouring
  • Placing and curing outside roughly +5°C to +40°C needs cold- or hot-weather precautions
  • Working time is limited, so the grout must be poured promptly and continuously after mixing

Selection & best practice

Start by degreasing and roughening the concrete, blowing out debris, and soaking the substrate so it is saturated but with no standing water; steel surfaces should be free of oil and loose rust. Build tight, non-absorbent formwork with a head box on the pour side and a slightly larger gap on the far side to let air and grout escape. Add the powder to about 80 to 90 percent of the recommended water and mix for at least three minutes with a slow-speed drill under 500 rpm to avoid entraining air, adjusting the remaining water only to reach a pourable, non-segregating consistency. Let the mix stand briefly to release air, then pour continuously from one side only, keeping a constant head so a single advancing front pushes air out ahead of it, and place within the working time to make full use of the expansion. Never trowel or vibrate stiffened grout back to life. Cure exposed edges by keeping them moist or covered for several days so the surface does not dry and craze.

Frequently asked questions

How much water do I add to a 25 kg bag of SikaGrout-214 IN?
Around 3.5 to 4.0 litres of clean water per 25 kg bag. Start at the lower end, add the powder to most of the water, then adjust to a pourable consistency without exceeding the maximum, since over-watering lowers strength and causes bleeding.
What compressive strength does it reach?
It develops roughly 60 MPa (N/mm²) at 28 days, gaining strength progressively over the early days, which is why it suits load-bearing machine and structural foundations.
Is it truly non-shrink?
Yes. It uses a controlled expanding system that produces a small positive volume change while plastic, compensating for settlement so the hardened grout stays in full contact with the plate and substrate.
What is the maximum thickness I can pour in one go?
Neat grout has a defined maximum lift thickness. For deeper or wider cavities you either extend the grout with clean graded aggregate or pour in stages; our team can advise the right approach for your gap.
Can I use it to anchor bolts and bars?
Yes. Its free flow lets it fill bolt pockets and annular gaps around dowels and starter bars completely, and being chloride-free it will not promote corrosion of the embedded steel.
How is it different from an epoxy grout?
It is a cementitious grout, ideal for the great majority of machine and structural foundations. For chemically aggressive exposure or very high dynamic loads, an epoxy grout is the specified choice instead.

How we position Sika SikaGrout-214 IN

SikaGrout-214 IN is the go-to general-purpose choice within Sika’s grouting range. Where a job needs faster early strength or a higher-performance grade, the wider SikaGrout family and Sika’s structural anchoring adhesives extend the same system, and site preparation often pairs it with a Sika bonding or curing product. For genuinely demanding duty, an epoxy grout is the right step up from a cementitious one. Buyers who prefer a Fosroc specification will find the Conbextra range covers the same applications, and across our other brands MC-Bauchemie and Dr. Fixit offer comparable cementitious grouts. As an authorised distributor for multiple brands, Space Arc can match the grade to the load, gap and site conditions rather than to a single label.

Preferred brand · Fosroc equivalent

Fosroc Conbextra GP2 — A specifier standardised on Fosroc, or working to a project spec that names Conbextra, may prefer GP2 as the directly equivalent free-flow non-shrink cementitious precision grout at a similar 28-day strength.
