Sika SikaGrout-214 IN S
A ready-to-mix, shrinkage-compensated cementitious grout that flows into machine bases and anchor pockets under its own weight and builds to 65 N/mm2 by 28 days.
What is it?
A single-component, cement-based precision grout supplied as a dry powder that you mix with water on site to a pourable or flowable consistency.
Where is it used?
Under machine base plates, in anchor and holding-down bolt pockets, precast column and beam joints, and cavities or voids that carry static and dynamic load.
Why use it?
It sets without shrinking, expands slightly to fill the gap completely, and develops high early and final strength so equipment can be commissioned quickly.
How is it applied?
Mix a full 30 kg bag with 4.2 to 4.8 litres of water using a slow-speed drill, let it stand briefly to release air, then pour continuously from one side into a pre-soaked, formed pocket.
About Sika SikaGrout-214 IN S
SikaGrout-214 IN S is Sika India’s general-purpose precision grout, built for the everyday grouting jobs that keep plant rooms, structural steel, and precast frames working. It arrives as a factory-blended dry powder of cement, selected fine aggregate (2.36 mm maximum grain), and performance additives, so the only site variable is the water you add. That consistency in the bag is what makes it dependable: batch after batch behaves the same way, which matters when you are grouting a run of column bases or a line of pump plinths and cannot afford one pocket setting differently from the next.
What sets a precision grout apart from ordinary cement mortar is dimensional stability. A normal cementitious mix shrinks as it cures, leaving hairline gaps under a base plate that concentrate load and let vibration loosen the fit over time. SikaGrout-214 IN S is engineered to do the opposite. It generates a controlled expansion of up to 4 percent in the plastic state and shows no shrinkage after initial set, so the hardened grout stays in intimate contact with both the base plate above and the foundation below. For contractors and consultants in Delhi NCR and across India, that translates into full bearing, predictable load transfer, and grouted connections that hold up under the impact and vibration of running machinery.
The technical insight
The performance rests on two mechanisms working together. First is the shrinkage-compensation system: while the grout is still plastic, a gas-generating expansion reaction lifts the mix by up to 4 percent (measured to ASTM C1090), pushing it hard against the underside of the plate and the walls of the pocket. Because this expansion happens before the grout stiffens, it cancels the plastic settlement and drying shrinkage that would otherwise open a gap, and Sika confirms no shrinkage after initial set. Second is the graded, low water-demand matrix. A tight water-to-powder ratio of 0.14 to 0.16 (just 4.2 to 4.8 litres per 30 kg bag) keeps the water-cement ratio low, which is what drives both the free-flowing rheology and the high strength: 45 N/mm2 at 7 days rising past 65 N/mm2 at 28 days (ASTM C109). The fine 2.36 mm aggregate lets the grout stay fluid enough to travel through deep, narrow gaps under a modest head, yet dense enough to carry heavy dynamic load without the bleeding or segregation you would get from a site-batched sand-cement mix.
Where it is used
- Grouting under machine foundation base plates for pumps, compressors, turbines and boilers
- Filling anchor bolt and holding-down bolt pockets in concrete
- Bedding steel column and stanchion base plates on foundations
- Grouting joints in precast concrete column and beam connections
- Filling cavities, gaps and voids in load-bearing concrete
- Sealing around pipe and service penetrations through slabs and walls
- Post-fixing of starter bars, dowels and fixtures set into hardened concrete
- Grouting bridge bearing and support pads subject to dynamic load
Key advantages
- Non-shrink with controlled expansion up to 4 percent, giving full contact and complete pocket filling
- High strength development, exceeding 45 N/mm2 at 7 days and 65 N/mm2 at 28 days
- Ready-to-mix single-component powder, adjust only the water for pourable or flowable consistency
- Very good flow lets it reach deep, narrow gaps under its own head with no vibration
- Resists impact and vibration, suited to machinery on continuous duty
- Non-corrosive to embedded steel and reinforcement
- Non-toxic and not flammable, straightforward to handle on site
- Consistent factory-blended quality removes site-batching guesswork
Limitations & considerations
- Grouting product only; not for patch repair or overlays in unconfined, open areas
- Single-pour layer thickness is limited to 100 mm; deeper lifts need extended grout with 6 mm aggregate at 2:1 by weight
- Short working window, pot life is only about 20 minutes at +30 C, so mix in placeable quantities
- Water dosage is strict; adding water beyond the recommended range causes bleeding, weakness and discolouration
- Formwork must be genuinely watertight or the fluid grout leaks out before it sets
- Six-month shelf life from production, shorter than many admixtures, so rotate stock and check dates
Selection & best practice
Success is mostly about substrate prep and disciplined mixing. Pre-soak the concrete for 2 to 6 hours to reach a saturated surface-dry state, then sponge off every trace of standing water before you pour. Use a full 30 kg bag with a slow drill mixer under 500 rpm, add the powder to about 80 to 90 percent of the water, mix at least three minutes, then trim in the balance to hit your target flow. Let the batch stand around five minutes to release entrained air, then pour continuously from one side only, keeping a head of grout so displaced air escapes ahead of the flow rather than being trapped. Place within about 15 minutes to capture the expansion, keep the exposed surface area small, and cure the fresh grout against premature drying with wet hessian, polythene or a curing compound. In peak Indian summer use chilled mixing water to protect pot life; in cold weather use warm water to keep strength gain on track.

Industry use cases
Power and process plants
Bedding turbine, compressor, boiler and pump base plates where continuous vibration demands a non-shrink, impact-resistant grout in full contact with the plate.
Precast concrete construction
Grouting column-to-foundation joints and beam connections so precast frames achieve monolithic load transfer on a tight erection schedule.
Structural steel fabrication
Grouting stanchion and column base plates and holding-down bolt pockets to lock erected steel onto its foundations at design bearing.
Infrastructure and bridges

How we position Sika SikaGrout-214 IN S
Within the Sika grouting range, SikaGrout-214 IN S is the dependable general-purpose choice for machine bases, anchors and precast joints up to 100 mm deep. Where a project needs faster commissioning or higher early strength, step up to a premium Sika precision grout in the SikaGrout family; for very deep or heavily confined pours you can extend this product with graded aggregate as the data sheet allows. Pair it with Sika anchoring adhesives such as the Sika AnchorFix range for chemically fixed bolts and rebar, and with Sikadur epoxy grouts where chemical resistance or the highest strength is called for. Across our other brands, we also supply Fosroc Conbextra grouts, Dr. Fixit and MC-Bauchemie systems, so we can match the grade to the loading, gap depth and site conditions rather than force one product to fit every pocket.
Fosroc Conbextra GP2 — Choose the Fosroc GP2 when the specification, main contractor or client standard is written around Conbextra, since it is the directly equivalent general-purpose non-shrink precision grout at a comparable 28-day strength.
