What is it?

A ready-to-use, mineral-oil-based chemical mould release agent from Fosroc that forms a thin water-repellent barrier between formwork and fresh concrete so shutters strip cleanly without staining or surface damage.

Where is it used?

Cast in-situ and precast concrete works, formwork yards and shuttering operations across building, infrastructure and precast projects in Delhi NCR and Pan-India.

Why use it?

It gives quick, clean release with fair-faced finishes, protects and extends the life of timber, steel, aluminium and plastic formwork, and is supplied ready to apply with no on-site dilution or mixing.

How is it applied?

Stir well, then apply one thin, even coat by brush, sponge or mould-oil spray over clean, dry formwork before placing reinforcement and pouring concrete.

About Fosroc Reebol 2010

Fosroc Reebol 2010 is a ready-to-use mineral release agent engineered to make the stripping of moulds and formwork quick, clean and predictable on busy Indian construction sites. Rather than a plain mineral oil that simply lubricates the shutter face, Reebol 2010 belongs to Fosroc’s chemically active Reebol family: it is a formulated blend of mineral oils and active chemicals that react with the free alkali in fresh concrete to form a thin, strongly hydrophobic, water-repellent skin at the mould interface. This skin is what delivers a true release rather than a smear, allowing the hardened element to part from the formwork without tearing, picking or leaving a build-up of cement paste behind.

On a typical reinforced-concrete or precast job in Delhi NCR, the consequences of a poor release agent show up immediately: blow holes, dusting, staining, honeycombing at arrises, and shutters that need heavy scraping before re-use. Reebol 2010 is designed to attack all of these at once. Because it is supplied as a golden-yellow liquid ready for direct application, crews do not have to gauge water dilution ratios in the field, which removes one of the most common sources of inconsistent finish on Indian sites where labour and supervision vary from pour to pour. It suits virtually all formwork materials, metal, timber and plastic, and remains effective with or without steam curing, making it equally at home in a precast yard running accelerated cycles and on a conventional cast in-situ frame.

A practical advantage for monsoon-prone regions is that once Reebol 2010 is applied it has low sensitivity to wash-out by rain, so a coated shutter left standing overnight before a delayed pour does not automatically have to be re-treated. The film also protects steel and aluminium formwork against corrosion and shields timber from alkali attack, which in Indian conditions is a major cause of premature shutter failure and warping. Critically for architectural and white-cement work, the cured concrete surface is left clean and non-stained, so it readily accepts subsequent paints, renders and protective coatings without an additional preparation step. Space Arc Engineering supplies Reebol 2010 as an authorised Fosroc distributor, pairing the product with application guidance for repetitive shuttering and precast operations.

The technical insight

The performance of Reebol 2010 comes from chemistry, not just lubrication. Conventional neat mould oils rely purely on a physical oil film, which is easily displaced by vibration and hydrostatic pressure, leaving dry contact points that bond and tear. Reebol 2010 instead carries reactive chemicals in a mineral-oil carrier; on contact with the high-pH pore solution of fresh concrete (typically pH 12.5 to 13.5), these react with the alkali to deposit a water-repellent metallic-soap-type skin directly on the shutter face. That skin repels the surplus bleed water that would otherwise pool at the interface, preserving uniform surface texture and colour and sharply reducing surface blow holes by letting trapped air escape as the concrete is poured and vibrated. The mineral-oil base also means the product has a relatively high flash point of around 160 C (COC) and a low specific gravity of roughly 0.88 to 0.89 at 25 C, so it spreads thinly and economically, only the thinnest film that fully wets the surface should be used, as excess application is wasteful and can cause surface dusting on the struck face.

Where it is used

  • Cast in-situ reinforced concrete frames – columns, beams, slabs and shear walls cast against steel or plywood shutters
  • Precast and prestressed concrete yards producing panels, beams, hollow-core and architectural units, including steam-cured cycles
  • Fair-faced and exposed architectural concrete where a clean, stain-free struck surface is specified
  • White-cement and light-coloured concrete elements where non-staining release is essential
  • Protection of new timber shutters against alkali attack to extend usable life
  • Coating of GRP, resin-faced and previously Reebol-coated wooden form surfaces for repeat use
  • Infrastructure formwork – bridge piers, retaining walls, box culverts and water-retaining structures
  • Repetitive shuttering operations where fast, clean turnaround between pours is required

Key advantages

  • Ready to use straight from the container – no site dilution, gauging or mixing required, giving consistent results across crews
  • Chemically active release reaction with concrete alkali produces a clean break and minimises cement-paste pick-up on the shutter
  • Reduces blow holes and surface blemishes by allowing trapped air to escape during pouring and vibration
  • Non-staining – safe to use with white cement and leaves a surface ready for paints and coatings
  • Suitable for all formwork types – timber, steel, aluminium and plastic – and protects them against corrosion and alkali attack
  • Low sensitivity to wash-out by rain, useful in monsoon conditions and for shutters coated ahead of a delayed pour
  • Effective with or without steam curing, suiting both precast yards and cast in-situ work
  • High coverage rate of roughly 20 to 60 m2 per litre keeps applied cost competitive against conventional mould oils
  • High flash point (around 160 C) gives a low flammability risk in normal site handling
  • Extends formwork life and reduces cleaning between re-uses, lowering overall shuttering cost

Limitations & considerations

  • Mineral-oil based and not a water-based emulsion – confirm the correct Reebol grade where a water-thinnable or low-VOC release agent is specified
  • Coverage varies widely (about 20 to 60 m2/litre) with the porosity and texture of the mould, so trial application is needed to set true consumption
  • Over-application is counterproductive – excess film is uneconomical and can cause dusting on the struck concrete face
  • Requires clean, dry formwork – old cement deposits and previous oil films must be removed before coating
  • Containers must be stirred thoroughly before each use to keep the blend uniform
  • Shelf life is limited to around 12 months and the product must be stored cool, closed and well ventilated
  • Not a curing compound, bonding aid or coating – it is solely a formwork release agent and does not replace those products
  • Normal oil-handling precautions apply – gloves, eye protection, ventilation and no naked flame or smoking during use

Selection & best practice

Always apply Reebol 2010 to clean, dry formwork: strip away all old cement deposits and previous release-oil films first, and protect new timber shutters with a coat of Reebol before their first use to guard against alkali attack. Stir the container thoroughly, then apply a single thin, even coat by brush, sponge or correctly-nozzled mould-oil sprayer – aim for the thinnest film that fully wets the surface, because excess leads to dusting and wasted product. Wipe off any loose particles before placing reinforcement, and avoid letting the coated face contact reinforcement steel that will be cast in. On repeat pours, a light wipe-down and one fresh coat is normally enough to return shutters to service. For architectural or white-cement work, run a small trial panel first to confirm finish and consumption, and keep containers closed between uses.

Frequently asked questions

Is Fosroc Reebol 2010 ready to use or does it need dilution with water?
Reebol 2010 is supplied ready to use as a golden-yellow mineral-based liquid for direct application. Unlike water-based emulsion release agents, it is not thinned with water on site – you simply stir it and apply one thin, even coat. This removes the risk of inconsistent dilution that can cause finish variation on site.
What coverage can I expect from Reebol 2010?
Coverage is typically between 20 and 60 square metres per litre, depending on the porosity and texture of the mould surface. Smooth steel and plastic shutters sit at the higher end; rough or absorbent timber consumes more. Because only the thinnest effective film should be applied, a trial run is the best way to set true consumption for a given formwork.
Which types of formwork can Reebol 2010 be used on?
It is suitable for virtually all formwork – steel, aluminium, timber and plastic, as well as GRP and resin-faced and previously Reebol-coated surfaces. It also protects steel and aluminium against corrosion and shields timber from alkali attack, which helps extend formwork life through repeated re-use.
Will Reebol 2010 stain the concrete or affect later painting?
No. Reebol 2010 is non-staining and can be used safely even with white cement. It leaves a clean, uniform struck surface that retains its texture and colour, so the concrete readily accepts paints, renders and protective coatings without an additional cleaning or preparation step.
Does Reebol 2010 work with steam-cured precast concrete?
Yes. It is effective with or without steam curing, which makes it well suited to precast and prestressed yards running accelerated curing cycles as well as conventional cast in-situ work. It also has low sensitivity to wash-out by rain, useful for shutters coated ahead of a delayed pour.
How is Reebol 2010 different from the water-based Reebol emulsion grades?
Reebol 2010 is a ready-to-use, mineral-oil-based grade applied neat, whereas emulsion grades such as Reebol Emulsion are concentrates diluted with water on site. Choose Reebol 2010 when you want a no-mixing, rain-resistant, ready-to-apply agent; choose an emulsion grade where a water-thinnable, lower-odour option is specified. Space Arc Engineering can advise on the right grade for your specification.

How we position Fosroc Reebol 2010

Within the Fosroc Reebol mould release range, Reebol 2010 sits as the ready-to-use, mineral-oil-based grade for sites that want consistent, no-mixing release without on-site dilution. Where projects need a water-thinnable or lower-odour option, the Reebol Emulsion / Emulsion Xtra concentrates are the alternative Fosroc choice, while Reebol Standard and the Reebol M-series (M1, M10) cover other application and economy tiers. It naturally pairs with other Fosroc formwork and concreting products such as Concure curing compounds and Conplast admixtures on the same pour. Against the wider market, Reebol 2010 competes with chemically active release agents like Sika Separol, MBS Coat / MYK release agents, Dr. Fixit Mould Release and STP (Pidilite) shuttering agents; the honest differentiator is Fosroc’s chemically reactive mineral-oil formulation, high coverage and ready-to-use convenience rather than a price-led neat mould oil. Space Arc Engineering, as an authorised Fosroc distributor for Delhi NCR and Pan-India, supplies Reebol 2010 with grade-selection and application support so the specified finish is achieved economically.
