Sika MultiSeal T
Self-Adhesive Butyl Rubber Sealing Tape for Construction Joints and Waterproofing Overlaps
Authorized Project Distributor — Sika India | Space Arc Engineering, Ghaziabad
Product Overview
Sika MultiSeal T is a self-adhesive, flexible waterproofing and sealing tape based on a butyl rubber compound with a double-sided adhesive system. It is designed for sealing joints, laps, interfaces, and penetrations in waterproofing assemblies on roofs, basements, terraces, and below-grade structures. The tape consists of a flexible butyl rubber core — which provides the waterproofing and elastomeric performance — sandwiched between two release films. On one face the butyl compound is exposed and highly tacky, providing immediate adhesion to concrete, masonry, metal, and most waterproofing membranes without the need for a separate primer. On the opposite face the tape may have an aluminium foil or polypropylene facing for UV resistance and mechanical protection on exposed applications. Sika MultiSeal T performs excellently across the wide temperature range encountered in Indian construction — from the sub-zero temperatures on high-altitude infrastructure projects in the Himalayas to the extreme summer heat of roof-level applications in Delhi NCR and Rajasthan. The butyl rubber compound retains flexibility and adhesion across this range and does not become brittle in cold or flow in heat. It is compatible with the full range of Sika sheet waterproofing membranes including SikaProof and Sarnafil systems, and bonds well to Sika liquid-applied membrane systems used on terraces, podiums, and balconies. A key practical advantage is the zero-primer requirement on most substrates — the butyl compound self-adheres to clean, dry concrete and masonry, saving both time and cost on site. Space Arc Engineering supplies Sika MultiSeal T for terrace waterproofing repairs, basement joint sealing, and new construction waterproofing details throughout Delhi NCR and Uttar Pradesh.
Applications
- Sealing laps and overlaps in sheet waterproofing membrane systems — Sarnafil, SikaProof, bitumen
- Sealing construction joints and movement joints in basement walls and raft slabs
- Sealing pipe and conduit penetrations through waterproofing membranes on roofs and terraces
- Flashing tape at termination edges of liquid-applied terrace and balcony waterproofing membranes
- Bridging cracks and joints in concrete substrate prior to application of liquid waterproofing
- Sealing interfaces between different waterproofing materials or between membrane and metal upstand
Key Advantages
- Self-adhesive butyl rubber — bonds to concrete, masonry, metal, and waterproofing membranes without primer
- Highly flexible — accommodates movement at joints without cracking or debonding
- Excellent adhesion in the wide temperature range of Indian construction — Delhi NCR heat and mountain cold
- UV-resistant foil or polypropylene facing on exposed applications — no immediate covering required
- Watertight seals at membrane laps and penetrations — eliminates the weakest point in sheet membrane systems
- Easy hand-cut application — no hot works, torches, or specialist equipment required

Frequently Asked Questions
On which substrates can Sika MultiSeal T be applied without primer and what surface preparation is required?
Sika MultiSeal T bonds without primer on the following substrates when correctly prepared: clean, smooth or lightly textured concrete; cement render and plaster; engineering brick and blockwork; galvanised steel and aluminium sheet; most thermoplastic (PVC, TPO) and bitumen waterproofing membrane surfaces. Surface preparation requirements for all substrates are: Dry — the substrate must be surface-dry at the time of Sika MultiSeal T application. Butyl rubber adhesive does not bond reliably to wet or damp concrete. On basements where water is actively seeping from the substrate, stop the water ingress using a rapid-setting hydraulic plug product before Sika MultiSeal T application. Clean — the substrate must be free of dust, laitance, grease, oil, curing compound residue, and any other contamination that would break the adhesive bond. Wipe concrete surfaces with a dry cloth and if oil or grease contamination is present, clean with a suitable solvent before tape application. Free of loose material — any loose concrete, spalled sections, or crumbling mortar must be cut out and filled flush before applying the tape over the repaired area. On some substrates where very strong adhesion is needed — for example on aged bitumen membranes with dusty or chalky surfaces, or on powder-coated metal — a Sika-approved primer may improve adhesion and peel strength. Contact Space Arc Engineering for primer recommendations specific to your substrate.
