Master Builders Solutions MasterTop 410
High-performance non-metallic dry-shake surface hardener that turns fresh concrete into a dense, non-slip, abrasion-resistant industrial floor. Formerly sold as MasterTop 100E.
What is it?
A ready-to-use dry-shake floor hardener from Master Builders Solutions, blending specially graded non-metallic natural aggregates with cement, broadcast over fresh concrete to form a monolithic wearing surface.
Where is it used?
Factories, warehouses, food and beverage plants, cold stores, ramps, loading docks and showrooms — anywhere Indian concrete floors carry moderate to heavy wheeled traffic.
Why use it?
It cuts 60-minute ASTM C779 wear from over 1.4 mm to 0.34 mm versus plain concrete, stays non-slip when wet and never rusts, at a fraction of the cost of a bonded topping.
How is it applied?
Broadcast at 3–8 kg/m² over freshly bull-floated concrete, worked in with power floats, then cured with an approved curing compound — never water-cured.
About Master Builders Solutions MasterTop 410
MasterTop 410 — sold for years as MasterTop 100E — is a factory-blended dry-shake surface hardener from Master Builders Solutions, the construction-chemicals business that grew out of BASF. The blend combines specially graded, hard-wearing non-metallic natural aggregates with cement, supplied site-ready in 25 kg moisture-resistant bags. Broadcast over freshly floated concrete and trowelled in, it becomes part of the slab itself, producing a dense, non-slip monolithic wearing surface rather than a separate layer that can debond later.
For Indian projects it occupies the practical middle ground of floor engineering: far more durable than plain trowelled concrete, yet quicker and more economical than a bonded screed or resin topping. Dosage is tuned to duty — from 3–5 kg/m² for light traffic up to 6–8 kg/m² for heavy-duty workshops — so one product covers everything from showrooms to factory bays. Space Arc Engineering supplies MasterTop 410 across Delhi NCR and pan-India, and supports consultants and contractors with dosage selection and experienced applicator crews for both monolithic and vacuum-dewatered floors.
The technical insight
A dry-shake hardener works by exploiting the bleed phase of fresh concrete. When MasterTop 410 is broadcast over a freshly bull-floated slab, its cement fraction draws up bleed water from below and hydrates in place, locking the graded aggregates into the top few millimetres — exactly where abrasion happens. Because those aggregates rate 8–9 on the Mohs scale, well above the sand and stone in ordinary concrete, wheel traffic polishes the surface instead of grinding it away: ASTM C779 testing records 0.34 mm of wear at 60 minutes against more than 1.4 mm for plain 33 MPa concrete. The densified matrix also closes surface capillaries, so oil and grease sit on top rather than soaking in. All mixing moisture must come from the slab itself — sprinkling water onto the shake destroys the monolithic bond and leads to delamination.
Where it is used
- Production floors in factories and engineering workshops
- Warehouse and distribution-centre slabs, including VDF/Tremix floors
- Food and beverage processing halls where a non-rusting floor is essential
- Freezers, chillers and cold stores carrying forklift traffic
- Ramps, stairs, landings and loading docks in wet or dry service
- Showrooms and display areas needing a coloured, dust-free finish
- Goods-handling and packing bays with continuous pallet-truck movement
Key advantages
- Only 0.34 mm wear at 60 minutes under ASTM C779, against more than 1.4 mm for plain 33 MPa concrete
- Non-metallic aggregate cannot rust, so washdown zones and wet processing areas stay stain-free
- Non-slip texture improves safety for personnel and forklifts in wet or dry conditions
- Dense surface resists penetration by oils and grease, simplifying housekeeping
- Monolithic bond with the base slab — no separate topping to debond later
- Floor is ready for full service as soon as the concrete has cured, with no extra flooring programme
- Tolerates higher ambient application temperatures — a genuine advantage on Indian sites
- Aggregate hardness of 8–9 on the Mohs scale, with coloured finish options for aesthetics
Limitations & considerations
- Not recommended where the floor is exposed to acids, their salts or chemicals that attack concrete — a resin system such as the MasterTop 1200 series or Ucrete is the right choice there
- Performance depends on the base slab: minimum 25 MPa concrete, no more than 3% entrained air and no added calcium chloride
- A dry-shake is timing-critical and must go onto freshly floated concrete — it cannot upgrade an existing hardened slab
- Water, burlap and polyethylene curing are prohibited; only approved curing compounds may be used
- Dosage on vacuum-dewatered floors is capped at 5 kg/m², limiting the heavy-duty rating on Tremix slabs
- Shelf life is 6 months, so order against a confirmed pour schedule rather than stockpiling
Selection & best practice
Treat MasterTop 410 as part of the concreting programme, not an afterthought. Get the roof on first — the TDS recommends application under cover except for modest slabs. Pour concrete of at least 25 MPa with no added calcium chloride, no more than 3% entrained air and only approved admixtures. Bull-float, then broadcast the shake evenly, typically in two passes at the dosage matched to duty, letting bleed moisture wet it out — never add water to the surface. Power-float and trowel to a closed finish. Saw joints as early as the concrete allows without ravelling, and cure only with an approved curing compound; water ponding, wet hessian and polyethylene sheet are all specifically prohibited. Above all, engage an experienced flooring crew — dry-shake quality is largely workmanship and timing.

Industry use cases
Warehousing & Logistics
Distribution hubs around Delhi NCR increasingly specify dry-shake hardeners on VDF (Tremix) slabs. MasterTop 410 suits these floors at up to 5 kg/m², giving racking aisles a dust-free, low-maintenance running surface.
Food & Beverage Processing
The non-rusting, non-slip surface is built for wet processing and washdown areas where a metallic hardener would stain. For acid-exposed zones such as dairies and breweries, step up to Ucrete.
Engineering & Manufacturing
Workshops, fabrication shops and machine halls take the heavy-duty dosage of 6–8 kg/m² to withstand trolley traffic, dropped components and continuous forklift movement.
Cold Chain
Freezers and chillers with forklift traffic are a TDS-listed application — the hardened, non-slip surface performs under low temperatures and persistent condensation alike.
Showrooms & Commercial
At 3–5 kg/m² with a coloured finish, it delivers an economical, dust-free display floor for automobile showrooms and retail back-of-house areas.

How we position Master Builders Solutions MasterTop 410
Within the Master Builders Solutions family, MasterTop 410 is the workhorse non-metallic hardener: pair it with an approved MasterKure curing compound and MasterGlenium admixtures in the base concrete, and finish joints with MasterSeal sealants. Where chemicals or hygiene demands exceed a cementitious surface, move up to the MasterTop 1200 series resin floors or Ucrete polyurethane-concrete. Among the other brands Space Arc distributes, Fosroc Nitoflor Hardtop and Sikafloor Chapdur are comparable non-metallic dry-shakes when project specifications call for brand parity — our team will match the system to your traffic, exposure and budget.
