What is it?

A heavy-duty, trowel-applied polyurethane-cement (PU concrete) render and coving mortar from Master Builders Solutions, engineered to finish vertical and detailing work on a Ucrete floor.

Where is it used?

Floor-to-wall coving, equipment plinths, tank bases, kerbs, upstands and drainage channels in food, beverage, dairy, pharmaceutical and chemical processing plants across India.

Why use it?

It removes the sharp, dirt-trapping junction where floor meets wall, giving a continuous radiused surface that can be washed down and steam-cleaned without cracking or harbouring bacteria.

How is it applied?

Steel-trowelled at 4–9 mm onto a primed, sound substrate — typically pre-formed as a radius cove at slab-to-wall junctions and around bases, then colour-matched to the adjacent Ucrete floor.

About Master Builders Solutions Ucrete RG

Ucrete RG is the detailing partner in the Ucrete flooring family. A poured Ucrete floor is only as hygienic as its edges, and the weak point in any wet-process plant is the 90-degree corner where the floor meets a wall, a machine base or a drainage gully. Left as a hard angle, that corner traps product residue, standing water and cleaning chemicals, and it becomes the first place a coating fails. Ucrete RG solves this by being stiff enough to hold a shape: it is a thixotropic, trowel-grade polyurethane-cement mortar that a skilled applicator can build up and radius into a smooth cove, upstand or plinth that flows seamlessly out of the floor finish. Because it shares the Ucrete resin chemistry, it bonds to and cures alongside the floor as one monolithic system rather than a bolted-on afterthought.

For Space Arc’s clients — the consultants, PMC teams and specialist applicators building food factories, dairies, breweries, pharma blocks and chemical units around Delhi NCR and pan-India — the appeal is practical. The render is solvent-free and non-tainting (independently assessed by the Campden & Chorleywood Food Research Association), so it can be installed in operating-standard environments without contaminating product. It takes the same aggressive wash-down, thermal shock and chemical exposure as the floor it borders, and it is available in a range of colours so coving can either match the floor for a clean monolithic look or contrast it to zone a facility. In short, it is what makes a Ucrete installation genuinely seamless from the drain to the top of the plinth.

The technical insight

Ucrete RG is a four-component system — polyurethane binders, a reactive isocyanate hardener, graded aggregate and a cementitious filler — that cures by chemical polyaddition rather than by drying or solvent loss. That distinction is what gives the material its durability: there is no shrinkage from evaporation and no residual solvent to taint product, so a 9 mm cove built in a single pass cures dense and dimensionally stable. The cured matrix is effectively non-porous, which is why it is impervious to liquids and resists bacterial and fungal colonisation — there is simply nowhere for contamination to lodge. The polyurethane-cement hybrid chemistry also gives it a coefficient of thermal expansion close to that of the concrete substrate, so when a wall cove is hit with boiling wash-down water or steam and then cold rinse, the render expands and contracts broadly in step with the slab behind it instead of debonding. Combined with roughly 52 N/mm² compressive strength and better-than-2.0 N/mm² adhesion (bond failures occur in the concrete, not at the interface), this is what lets the same detail survive years of daily cleaning at temperatures up to +120°C.

Where it is used

  • Radiused floor-to-wall coving that continues seamlessly from a Ucrete floor in food and beverage halls
  • Equipment plinths, machine bases and tank supports in dairies, breweries and processing lines
  • Bunds, kerbs and upstands around chemical storage and dosing areas
  • Drainage-channel edges, gully surrounds and trapped-effluent detailing
  • Vertical wall render and splash-zone protection in wet-process rooms
  • Column bases, door thresholds and step nosings that need the same wash-down resistance as the floor
  • Pharmaceutical clean-area plinths and equipment bases requiring hygienic, jointless detailing
  • Repair and re-profiling of damaged coving within an existing Ucrete installation

Key advantages

  • Creates seamless, radiused coving that eliminates dirt- and water-trapping junctions
  • Dense and effectively non-porous — impervious to liquids and resistant to bacteria and mould
  • Solvent-free and non-tainting (assessed by Campden & Chorleywood), so it suits food and pharma environments
  • Withstands aggressive wash-down, steam cleaning and thermal shock up to +120°C
  • Shares Ucrete chemistry and colours, so details bond as one system and colour-match the floor
  • Trowel-grade and thixotropic — holds shape on verticals and builds up to 9 mm in a single pass
  • Strong chemical and impact resistance for demanding industrial detailing
  • Can be applied over relatively young substrates (7-day concrete / 3-day polymer screed), shortening programmes

Limitations & considerations

  • A trowel-applied, hand-formed material — cove quality depends heavily on applicator skill and is not a DIY product
  • It is a detailing render, not a floor screed; the trafficable floor field still needs a Ucrete floor grade such as UD200
  • Requires a sound, primed and correctly prepared substrate; poor preparation or untreated cracks can lead to reflective cracking and reduced service life
  • Application and material temperatures must be controlled (typically product around +15 to +22°C and substrate/ambient within the specified window) — hot Indian sites need shading and planning
  • Pre-weighed kits must be fully mixed and used within their working time; part-mixing or over-thick single passes risk defects
  • Colour is functional rather than decorative-grade, and slight batch-to-batch shade variation can occur across large areas

Selection & best practice

Treat the coving as part of the floor sequence, not a follow-on trade. The substrate must be sound, dry and mechanically prepared, with a cut-in chase at the wall junction and any cracks or joints treated before priming with the compatible Ucrete primer. Because Ucrete RG cures by reaction, temperature drives everything: bring kits to the recommended material temperature, work within the stated substrate and ambient limits, and on warm Delhi-NCR sites shade the working area and plan pours for cooler parts of the day so you keep full working time. Mix each pre-weighed kit completely — never split a kit — and form the cove to a consistent radius using a former or profiling tool, feathering it smoothly into the floor so there is no lip to catch dirt. Build to the required thickness in a controlled pass (up to 9 mm), protect fresh work from water and traffic until it has developed strength, and colour-match batches deliberately by keeping one batch to one visible zone. Above all, use trained applicators — Space Arc can supply both the material and application support.

Frequently asked questions

Is Ucrete RG a floor finish or just for coving and detailing?
It is a detailing render, not a trafficable floor screed. Use it for coving, plinths, upstands, kerbs and drainage details, and pair it with a Ucrete floor grade such as UD200 for the main floor field. The two share chemistry and colours so they finish as one system.
What thickness and coverage should I plan for?
Ucrete RG is trowelled at 4–9 mm and can be built to 9 mm in a single pass. Budget roughly 8–9 kg/m² at 4 mm, 12–13 kg/m² at 6 mm and 18–20 kg/m² at 9 mm, then add for the extra cross-section a radiused cove requires.
Is it safe to use in an operating food or pharma facility?
It is solvent-free and non-tainting, independently assessed by the Campden & Chorleywood Food Research Association, and the cured surface is dense and non-porous so it resists bacteria and mould. It is well suited to hygienic environments, though installation zones should still be isolated from active production.
Do I need a primer, and what substrate condition is required?
Yes — the substrate must be sound, prepared and primed with the compatible Ucrete primer, with cracks and joints treated first. It can be applied over 7-day-old concrete or 3-day-old polymer screed, which helps compress site programmes.
How hot a wash-down can the coving take?
The cured render tolerates service temperatures up to about +120°C, covering steam cleaning and hot CIP wash-down. Its thermal expansion is close to concrete, so it handles the hot–cold cycling of wash-down routines without debonding.
Can Space Arc supply and apply it across India?
Yes. Space Arc Engineering is an authorised distributor and applicator serving Delhi NCR and pan-India, and can supply Ucrete RG together with the matching floor grade, primer and trained application support for hygienic flooring projects.

How we position Master Builders Solutions Ucrete RG

Ucrete RG is the detailing member of the Master Builders Solutions Ucrete family and is almost always specified alongside a Ucrete floor grade — most commonly the heavy-duty UD200 for the trafficked field, a medium-duty finish such as Ucrete MF/MT where loads are lighter, the Ucrete primer for substrate preparation, and a Ucrete topcoat where a sealed or colour-refreshed surface is wanted. Buy the coving render as part of that system rather than in isolation, because the value of RG is that it matches the floor’s chemistry, colour and wash-down performance. Where a project is standardised on a different manufacturer, Space Arc can offer equivalent PU-concrete (polyurethane-cement) hygienic systems from our other principals — Sika’s Sikafloor PurCem range and comparable heavy-duty flooring from Fosroc and MC-Bauchemie — so the specification stays on one brand family from floor to cove. For lighter-duty or budget-driven areas that do not face the same thermal and chemical load, an epoxy floor-and-coving system may be the more economical call, and our team can advise where PU concrete is genuinely warranted versus where epoxy will do.
