Master Builders Solutions Ucrete PRG
Thixotropic polyurethane-cement primer and pore filler that anchors Ucrete RG renders to walls, kerbs and plinths — overcoatable within the hour and proven in wash-down zones.
What is it?
A water-based, thixotropic primer and pore filler built on the Ucrete heavy-duty polyurethane-cement binder, supplied in pre-weighed 1.43 kg kits for full-unit mixing.
Where is it used?
On walls, kerbs, plinths, bund faces and drainage surrounds before Ucrete RG render or detailing mortar — food and beverage plants, pharma blocks, chemical facilities.
Why use it?
It seals substrate pores and develops over 2.0 N/mm² adhesion with failure in the concrete itself, so the render neither pinholes nor debonds in service.
How is it applied?
Brushed or rolled at 0.15–0.2 kg/m² onto prepared substrate by a licensed Ucrete applicator; the render follows in roughly an hour at 20°C.
About Master Builders Solutions Ucrete PRG
Ucrete PRG is the dedicated primer for the Ucrete RG vertical render system — the wall-and-detail counterpart to Ucrete’s famously punishing-duty polyurethane-cement floors. Developed under Master Builders Solutions and now carried forward in the Sika Ucrete portfolio after the MBCC acquisition, it uses the same heavy-duty binder chemistry as the renders it sits beneath. Its job is unglamorous but decisive: fill the pores of blockwork, concrete and masonry so that entrapped air cannot blow through the fresh render, and give the render a surface it can grip with more strength than the concrete behind it. Because it is thixotropic, it stays where a brush puts it — no sagging down a bund wall, no pooling at a kerb root.
For Indian process plants, the detail work is usually where hygienic finishes fail first — coving junctions, machine plinths, drain surrounds and splash walls take the hits from trolleys, hot wash-down and CIP chemicals. Space Arc Engineering supplies Ucrete PRG in genuine pre-weighed kits and, as an authorised applicator, installs the complete Ucrete render and detailing system across Delhi NCR and pan-India, so the primer, render and coving arrive on site as one warranted package rather than a mix of trades.
The technical insight
Two properties do the real work here. First, thixotropy: the mixed primer shear-thins under the brush, flowing into open pores and blowholes, then recovers its body the moment shearing stops — so on a vertical face it holds a continuous film instead of curtaining downwards. That filled, sealed surface matters because porous substrates outgas as temperature rises; an unsealed wall pushes air bubbles through fresh render, leaving pinholes that later harbour bacteria in a food plant. Second, chemistry continuity: because the primer shares the Ucrete polyurethane-cement binder, the render overcoated onto it bonds chemically as well as mechanically, which is why EN 1542 pull-off tests exceed 2.0 N/mm² and break in the concrete, not at the interface. The water-based hybrid formulation also tolerates young substrates — 7-day concrete and 3-day polymer screeds — where solvent-based epoxies would demand a 28-day wait.
Where it is used
- Priming concrete and blockwork walls before Ucrete RG render in food and beverage processing halls
- Sealing machine plinths, kerbs and equipment bases ahead of Ucrete detailing mortar
- Preparing bund walls and tank plinths in chemical and agrochemical storage areas
- Pore-filling drainage channel surrounds and upstands in wet process zones
- Priming coving junctions where Ucrete floors turn up into wall renders
- Vertical surface preparation in pharmaceutical and beverage production blocks
- Priming mild steel, exterior-grade plywood and insulated wall panels where the render carries onto mixed substrates
Key advantages
- Non-slump, thixotropic consistency holds on fully vertical faces without curtaining
- Pull-off adhesion above 2.0 N/mm² to EN 1542, with cohesive failure in the concrete substrate
- Overcoatable in about 1 hour at 20°C — primer and render go on in the same shift
- Accepts 7-day-old concrete and 3-day-old polymer screeds, compressing project programmes
- Non-tainting from the end of mixing and low-VOC — workable near live food production
- Seals pores and blowholes, preventing pinholing and outgassing defects in the finished render
- Bonds to concrete, brick, mild steel, exterior plywood and insulated panels in one product
- Small 1.43 kg pre-weighed kits mean full-unit mixing with minimal ratio errors and waste
Limitations & considerations
- Not permitted for horizontal flooring — it is strictly a primer for vertical renders and detailing work; floor grades use their own primers
- Application is restricted to trained, licensed Ucrete applicators, so it cannot be handed to a general painting contractor
- Substrate must be at least 30 N/mm² compressive and 1.5 N/mm² tensile strength — weak plasters and friable renders must come off first
- Working conditions are bounded: substrate 5–30°C and at least 3°C above dew point, which needs monitoring in humid coastal plants and cold-store surrounds
- The short overcoat cycle demands a coordinated crew — priming far ahead of the render team wastes the window
- Consumption climbs on very porous blockwork, so material budgets should allow for local second applications
Selection & best practice
Preparation decides the pull-off number. Mechanically prepare the substrate — grit-blasting or equivalent — to remove laitance, coatings and anything friable, then confirm it is clean, dry and above the strength thresholds. Condition the kits to 15–25°C before mixing; in a North Indian summer that means shaded storage, in winter an overnight indoor soak. Mix complete units only — never split a kit — and blend until uniform. Apply by stiff brush or roller at 0.15–0.2 kg/m², scrubbing the material into pores and blowholes rather than laying a thick film; the aim is a sealed, uniformly wetted surface, not a coating. Check substrate temperature sits 3°C or more above dew point before starting. At 20°C and 50% RH, follow with Ucrete RG render after roughly one hour — sequence the crews so the primer never becomes yesterday’s work. Never leave PRG exposed as a finished surface.

Industry use cases
Dairy & Food Processing
Primes splash walls and coved wall–floor junctions in wash-down halls, so Ucrete RG renders survive daily hot-water and caustic cleaning without debonding at the detail lines.
Breweries & Beverage Plants
Seals kerbs, tank plinths and drainage surrounds in filling and fermentation areas where spilled product and CIP chemistry attack ordinary cementitious repairs.
Pharmaceutical Facilities
Prepares vertical surfaces for hygienic, non-tainting renders in production and utility blocks where audit teams inspect pinhole-free, cleanable junctions.
Chemical & Agrochemical Plants
Anchors chemically resistant Ucrete renders onto bund walls and containment plinths, including onto mild steel and mixed substrates around tank farms.
Commercial Kitchens & Abattoirs
Provides the bond coat for coving and kerb details that take trolley impact, animal fats and aggressive sanitisers in high-throughput facilities.

How we position Master Builders Solutions Ucrete PRG
Ucrete PRG only makes sense as part of the system it primes for: Ucrete RG render for walls and vertical details, and Ucrete detailing mortars for coving, kerbs and plinths. On the horizontal side, the floors those details meet are typically Ucrete MF, DP or UD200 screeds — each with its own primer regime, so do not carry PRG across. Following Sika’s acquisition of MBCC, the family now sits alongside Sikafloor PurCem, and for lighter-duty areas we also supply Fosroc Nitoflor and MasterTop epoxy systems where full polyurethane-cement performance is not warranted. Talk to Space Arc and we will match the grade to the actual exposure.
